  • Love it

  • I loved seeing you nerd out in this video. Great review.

  • you should review Go Kart Mozart.

  • @kylel515 agreed.

@Anthony at least check out the song Here Is A Song by Go Kart Mozart.

  • I totally agree! did not enjoy the lo-fi second album. this one is sweet.

  • gonna review the new mark lanegan album?

  • YES ANTHONY FANTANO.

    YES ANTHONY.

    YES.

    .

    YES.

  • gotta have those suspenders when reviewing steve albini shit.

  • oh and also no sentiment is really great :)

  • hahaha the emo bit was funny

  • Comment removed

  • This album has gotten over 30 plays all the way through (no sentiment and no future/no past have at least double that each) since i got it, and it's fantastic, thank you for showing me this.

  • how did u not like cloud nothing's old stuff...

  • LOVE IT. By the end of Wasted Days I was emotional from all the feeling that is given out in his voice and how much I relate to it. No Sentiment and No Future No Past.

I have to admit, I DID like their older work as well, but as you said, this is obviously more memorable and leaves a big impression.

The name "Attack on Memory," they said was an 'attack' of people's previous image of them.

I have only known about them a few months and they're one of my favorites.

  • He said "reverby:, washed out, or fuzzed out, That's two straight shots of whiskey.

  • @Octavian951 hahahahaha

  • Mark Lanegan- Blues funeral

  • their last album was straight up power pop/punk. this is a huge sound change, based on the one song ive heard.

  • Awesome album

  • I'm with you on Fall In. It doesn't fit at all.

  • Oh man, just stumbled upon "wasted days". It completely caught me off guard. Glad to see you doing a review for this band, they deserve the praise.

  • this band remind me a lot of seahaven. you should check em out, they put out an album a couple months ago called winter forever

  • To review next: Silkie - City Limits Volume 1

  • Do a review on anything by corinne bailey rae

  • It looks like you're wearing a backpack, but you're not and it's really annoying me for some reason

  • 'Fall In' is such a shitty song, everything else on the album is great.

  • I am lovin' the hell out of this album. It sounds a bit like a cross between Green Day, The Strokes, Fugazi, and Clarity-era Jimmy Eat World (cool emo). I'd give it a strong 9.

  • Excited!

  • this dude's a tool. lll if you don't like this entire album then fuck you and what i would assume is you thinking you've got a great life.

  • Oh and Dylan Baldi kind of recorded the self-titled by himself...in a basement...with a crappy mic.

  • I'm sorry but "Fall In" is one of my favorites.

  • @josieomgz dont worry, he trashed bon iver's self titled

  • the guys voice is horrible...how can anyone like this garbage?

  • @jdwilliams202000 the words he uses are good.

  • FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! SOMEONE MAKE A GIF OF 1:58-2:05

  • honestly i didn't like it too much, droned on too long with forgettable melodies

  • Comment removed

  • i found this one to be very generic sounding. like one of the countless bands that record modern punk/pop styled stuff in a basement. fugazi is way better than this.

  • warning warning bell end alert

  • oh god no that howler album is total shit, cloud nothings... winner of best album this month

  • Really enjoyed the review and agree with you after listening to it. The instrumentation is really tight, I just wish the vocals were more indie rock and less punk.

I'd love to hear what you have to say about Howler's album America Give Up.

  • Totally feeling the 'old school cool ass emo' vibes! Also Drive Like Jehu <3

  • Can someone make an endless loop of the final, distorted, vibrating "EURGH" at 2:05 please? Thanks.

  • cleveland represent!

  • Fantano is FINE

  • good review, been listening to it on soundcloud. Was slightly insure at first due to the dodgy vocals, but the band is tight. A grower for sure.

  • reminds me of sunny day real estate

  • Just started watching your videos, you do some damn good work!

  • Nice t-shirt. HPSU!

  • hate to do this but it sounds like a watered down version of a Strokes song.

  • @martyman5000 totally agree especially on stay useless

  • nice review

  • Y U NO REVIEW FUTURE THIS???

  • That album is quite amazing! Think i'm gonna buy it on vinyl when i'll find it!

  • suspenders...there, i said it.

  • I fuckin love this album and in particular 'No Sentiment'. Mainly because It reminds me of Nirvana's in utero album, but with that said, it sounds original and heavy in its own way. The emotions coming through are strong and honest which is what I look for in music.

  • I want to listen to this album but I just can't get passed the horrid faux green day vocals.

  • 2 times.

  • I THOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUGGHHHHHHHHHHTTTTTTTTTTTT, I WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLDDDDDDDDDDD, BEEEEE MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEE, THAN THIS!!!!

  • 8/10 are you serious ?! That album is terrible...actually only the instrumentals are good.

  • @Road2Summer Yeeeeeah, you're stupid.

  • Review Nada Surf - The Stars are Indifferent to Astronomy

  • Review My Darkest Days: Casual Sex.

  • anthonys an emo

  • you don't like it but your description makes me want to get this album!

  • You getting the giggles at the start of every video seems to be a recurring theme now.

  • STOP DOWNLOADING! Bands deserve to get paid. It doesn't make them "sellouts"..If your boss doesn't pay you for your job at Mc d's you are getting ripped off like downloaders rip off bands.Cool bands cant recoup costs from their labels and are getting dropped. We will be stuck with GaGa and Beiber cuz 12 yr olds pay for music more than "indie" kids do. It is also compromising the state of the internet. It's a human problem not a music problem.Give something back to music and the net.

  • in uetro 2

  • @edibletalkingchairs ed-i could not agree more on the first track i streamed i said wow the production especially sounds so similar to in utero; then i found out Albini produced it. lol good ears huh

  • whats with the back pack dude?

  • ya did good fantano, you did good

  • new Anthony green a,bum, Beautiful Things

  • I have a sneaking suspicion that 'Attack On Memory' will be one of my favourite releases of 2012. It's unique, it's energetic, it has character and that jam on Wasted Days is incredible.

  • yeah, keep doing that thing where you vibrate

  • loved it. review sharon van etten

  • our preferences overlap yet again, great pick

  • My biggest gripe with this band has officially been cured. The first album (Turning On, its worth a listen imho) was a bit too juvenile and generic, but definitely great music coming from a kid who dropped out of college at 19. In the two years since that release, it sounds like he's grown up a bunch and has just made his music more awesome.

Cloud Nothings, welcome to my skiing/workout playlist

  • that emo bit was good

  • This Cloud Nothings album is a breath of fresh-air. I know that sounded cliche, but this album sounds right. A nice, aggressive, rock-out, album. No Synths, Computer sounds, etc, etc. Solid songs.

  • great review!

  • love you, man. LOVE. YOU. keep doing that thing where you vibrate.

  • Time to shave fagtano.

  • Can't say Cloud Nothing's are my favorite indie rock band, but they do pack a punch on "Stay Useless", and I think I would enjoy them more in a live concert than the studio versions of some of their songs-sometimes I find that a lot of bands sound better live than they do on their albums.

  • 1:58 - 2:05 best moment in the history of The needle drop

  • @TheDeepestblue14 dude the cal rap

  • The 1 dislike is an emo

  • stay passionate Tony, I cant wait to listen to this one.

  • Enter Shikari - Flash Flood Of Colour.

    English metal experementers.

  • I want you to review a John Zorn album!! : )

  • Hi.

What do u think about reviewing Linda Mirada's Fabuloso San Jose EP (2011). I especially like Sabore Biccoro's rework of the song 'Solo'.

It 'd also be great if u revied some ratatat's album. I love this band.

    Take care

  • Review The Act of Sitting Down in the Shower

  • I wish there was a better term for indie rock than "indie rock."

  • @UPaDRIVWAY there is. it's called "Rock".

  • @UPaDRIVWAY IKR. alternative kinda works but that kinda refers to more harder rockish stuff like foo fighters i think.

  • I miss Cal ... :'( ... WAAAAAAAAH!!!

  • GODDAMIT I'M 17 AND the one time he hasn't played a non-21+ show in Atlanta, it was an instore and i was late and missed the ENTIRE SHOW!

    terrific album btw.

  • Though our tastes in electronic music typically differ, please review Lindstrom's "Six Cups of Rebel." I'm curious what you'll think of what I consider a pretty damn great album (and "De Javu" is one hell of a track).

  • driftless pony club?

  • Its pretty neato

  • That feeling when you are driving through CT late at night and suddenly Anthony Fantano tells you in a calm voice that the BBC World Service is coming on.

  • Overalls?

  • whats good emo music? if ye dont mean the shit heap of bands everyone is thinkin of.... just curious......

  • @AlexVerdonMusic I was a big fan of Brand New, particularly "the devil and god are raging inside of me". but that was back in my angsty teenage years I'd still recommend it though

  • @AlexVerdonMusic

    My Bloody Valentine

  • This album is my fav of 2012 so far. Glad you liked it aswell.

  • music is dumb

  • shout out to the drive like jehu album on the wall!

  • I sincerely appreciate the reviews you are doing. Very well put together. Thanks.

  • I have found the one person who disliked and have neutralized him....

  • I agree with this review except for how you said the last album wasn't memorable. How could you not remember them repeating one line for a few minutes? Haha, anyways, great review!

  • Painfully bland album.

  • Great review! Im really digging this album as well :)

  • You have to review Kid CuDi's WZRD when it releases this month

  • Hello. I'd like it if you reviewed Becoming by Abigail Williams. In case you haven't heard it, it's a really ambient, experimental, black metal album that I think you would like.

  • Review Give Me My Flowers While I can Smell Them by Blu & Exile

  • Review Bangarang by Skrillex

  • @po1s0ned no

  • Brawny commercial spot later today? :)

  • I feel as though you reviewed this album twice with two different opinions and then spliced the two reviews together. It seemed like a lukewarm on the fence kind of review and yet it was given a light 8....

  • Luv dat get-up.

  • REVIEW THE JOYFUL NOISE SOUNDTRACK

DOLLY PARTON & QUEEN LATIFAH FTW

  • I love this album! Really intense while still being heaps of fun. Love the new direction for cloud nothings :)

  • Toro Y Moi's new EP "Freaking Out" for your next review!

  • 1:57 well said there, Igor

  • LA Riot Thurz

  • Thanks, Fantano. I've been really out of the loop with pretty much all of rock for the past year or so. I decided to watch this review, and it sounds like it's worth a listen or two.

  • I dug this album. It's an Albini record, yes, but it carries a unique spin on that sound that makes it stand out. Cloud Nothings have produced a very solid record here.

  • I thought "Stay Useless" was going to be a "Hard to Explain" cover.

  • nice review sir

  • new sleighbells trk comeback kid: it's that annoying teen pop stuff, and that annoying teen punk stuff, but AT THE SAME TIME. boys and girls. (it's interesting.) do a track review? well they fixed the levels so it's not bursting into the reds w every crescendo. that was ur main gripe of their debut, right?

  • of Montreal - Paralytic Stalks pls

  • thank for feeling the same as i do about Lo-Fi. I don't feel as guilty now for basically writing off a whole genre. I find listening to Lo-Fi bands is a frustrating experience. Sometimes you can hear what may be a great song but it's been buried in this murky reverb drenched mix so in the end its easily forgettable. Ok yea.. thanks.. vent over...

  • Been waiting for this since you introduced us to No Future No Past in one of your podcasts. Awesome.

  • track review the new sleigh bells single, "Comeback Kid"!

  • You should probably review the upcoming Ulrich Schnauss & Mark Peters collab...
