That might have been a clip from Blue Peter by the underaged pre-teen cheers. I know. A children's show who puts on real music/ complex bands? Trust it to be from the UK, in the USA we'd never dare do that, it goes where it "belongs" on American bandstand with an 17+ age group audience, If the band was popular enough to make an appearance of course.
I have noticed a difference between North American and English cultures, in that in England popular music tends to be pan-generational, whereas in the States it seems to be more rigidly defined as being for "X" age group. Not quite sure how to express it, but it's just something I've noticed.
1980 definitely, that's the gear they wore that year and the blonde Gibson and Will's Jag were their main axes. Crocodiles came out in 1980 so they were doing the UK TV shows to promote it.
My fave band ever. Never seen any old footage of them. God bless youtube and the cool folks who posted all of these great videos. Wish I woulda been old and wise enough to see them in the early '80s.
This guys voice reminds me of David Bowies voice sort of... Any relation I wonder lol, I typed in echo, one of trapt's songs and came up with this... they are pretty good.. I like this band!!
Obviously, he was and will always be cooler and more relevant than Bono. I love U2's post-punk phase but I guess they were not that original and they turned to be coporate whores.
It would had been awsome to see McCulloch float above Bono's pretentious arrogance, the Bunnymen were the REAL THING! FUCK U2!
Saw them live in Liverpool a year after this, 30 years ago!!

camera never went to ~Will - who done some great guitar work on that - hidden in smoke which was cool!!!
Bunnymen were great - Mac should give up the mic these days - Cohen grew old gracefully, Mac hasn't.
