I remember watching these nationals - and thought he should have won the freeskate - that he was dropped to 4th shows you how political the judges felt about sending Wylie to Worlds and taking a wooden lifeless skater like Eldridge (back then) to win. He should have been to the 91 worlds and 92 Olympics where he got put behind Wylie who skated a far worse performance...
It appears that Mark was a consistent performer from 1990-1992, however, he was always the one left off the World and Olympic teams. At least now he is having a great deal of success with his coaching career. Hopefully he will finally be able to go to the Olympics with at least one of his students.
I think Sandra Bezic did this program. Those were the days when she could take a skater and use their strengths to create a masterpiece. This program is fabulous. I remember being upset at the time that Paul Wylie beat him for the bronze. Looking back on it, the weakest program of the top 4 was Eldredge!
He should have gone to the 91 Worlds with this performance. Beautifully skated and interpreted. He has such pure, straight-forward, clean lines. My fave part of the program is his entrance into the 3sal; great ice coverage, wonderful movements, and a very quiet edge coming out of the jump.
How utterly refreshing. Complete and wonderful and interesting music and choreography. Skating has taken a wrong turn somewhere and performances like this bring me back. This was a real treat!
sigh...skating of that quality is sometimes so obviously lacking today. I've always admired Mark's attention to every detail--not a finger or toe out of place...ever.
Such a GREAT performance, Mark! I greatly admire your skating.

2:25 to 2:55 is fascinating and beautiful. Wonderful camel spin as well at 2:55.
