America is very different from the UK. The entire point of Skins is to portray BRITISH teens. Not american ones. Even the name of the show is titled after cigarette papers (called skins in the UK). No one calls cigarette papers skins in the US, people don't really roll their own cigs in the states. People don't even really smoke here! It just seems like americanizing a show meant to portray england is a bit strange. They could've just picked another name and done their own thing.

American can't translate this show without watering it down. No, literally, by law, we can't air it in the same way that England was able to. Especially not if it's going to be on MTV. I am an American and liked Skins. But I ll have to agree an American Skins would suck because we would censor the hell out of it. I watched it on Netflix and really enjoyed the rawness of it. The way it focuses on the characters was brilliant! Allot of us Americans just want to stay in our bubbles. I haven't seen Series 3 or anything past that but I must say the first 2 series were just plain out fun! I know the 3rd one t changes characters and leaves Effie in. Cant wait to watch it.

America is very different from the UK. The entire point of Skins is to portray BRITISH teens. Not american ones. Even the name of the show is titled after cigarette papers (called skins in the UK). No one calls cigarette papers skins in the US, people don't really roll their own cigs in the states. People don't even really smoke here! It just seems like americanizing a show meant to portray england is a bit strange. They could've just picked another name and done their own thing.

American can't translate this show without watering it down. No, literally, by law, we can't air it in the same way that England was able to. Especially not if it's going to be on MTV. HBO or Showtime would've been able to, but not a basic cable station. It'll just be an American Degrassi rather than an American Skins. Skins is such an English show. Only England can execute it. i honestly have to say i only like the first two seasons of skins, i didn't really like the 3rd or 4th. i didn't grow any attachments and i couldn't understand why any of them were friends. they were all so awful to themselves and each other.
if they do make an american version (which i am 100 percent against, and i am american) i hope its closer to the original cast/plot because if they try to do their own version it'll just be a shitty degrassi.

I am an American and liked Skins. But I ll have to agree an American Skins would suck because we would censor the hell out of it. I watched it on Netflix and really enjoyed the rawness of it. The way it focuses on the characters was brilliant! Allot of us Americans just want to stay in our bubbles. I haven't seen Series 3 or anything past that but I must say the first 2 series were just plain out fun! I know the 3rd one t changes characters and leaves Effie in. Cant wait to watch it.

@theballer900 lol Skins is the best show ever what are you talking about, and yes, I watch all the shows you mentioned, but none of them is as good, not even close. Skins is realistic, and even if not, it's so much better, because the storylines are great.

They recorded it in mono... you need dual speakers to hear it and even then it only has sound on one side. Plug in ear buds.

from what i've watched (up to episode 8) they do replace all of the characters. the new characters are great but i miss the old ones :(

Have you tried Quick Silver Screen? Thats where I watch Skins.. just go to the tv section, or DivX tv section, and look for it. Alot of the time the show will be uploaded online the day after its broadcast in the UK.
