I really wish that more of the RPG games out there had smithing that was as in depth as this sort of thing.
Just pressing a button to automatically create something is lame as fuck, and is the reason raw materials cost more than a finished product on those games
I'd love to learn how to work metal for real. I almost did, but the guy showing me how to do it knew less than I did ._.
@weylin6 quit your excuses and start working metal. there is so much material on smithing, metal work and how to get started on youtube that there is absolutely no reason for you not to go ahead and do it. you need a hammer an anvil (any big solid iron chunk will do, a piece of railroad track is great) then you search yt for home made forges and tongs...the rest is pactice (books on the matter helps too). every black smith on yt will be glad to answer any qustions you may have...enjoy.
Confusing trade designations confuses the public and helps no one. Also possibly pisses off other education and trade groups. The two terms and their differences are emphasized for a good reason. Clarity.
@johnnysgretsch There's always one out there to bag it. The world was a better place 20 years ago when everything was shod and no one EVER questioned the farrier. The Internet has ruined that.

Put your safety glasses on! If you get hot slag in your eye your shoeing days and most of the rest of your life is over. Think about it!

Ferrier, NOT BLACKSMITH. This is horseshoeing, not blacksmithing. Figure it out, people.

@jablonsky67: Was there a horse in the clip? A farrier shoes horses. A blacksmith makes horse shoes...among other things.
dLimboStick 1 month ago 2
@jablonsky67 Isn't a farrier a specialization of blacksmithing?
peachy6969 1 month ago
@peachy6969 yes a farrier is a blacksmith who has the knowledge of how to care for horses.
