    A New Friend

  • Very good video, I was not aware that people went there with the entire family and evangelized Africa. That was a true and a hard work for the Lord God.

Thank you for sharing this fabulous video.

I admire the families who went there.

  • thanks nice video

  • So sad they didnt know God.

Knew enough to make a living though.

  • Interesting documentary, although it seems this particular belief has the wrong viewpoint. In particular the Bible does not advocate neglecting ones own offspring. If one does not provide for ones own they have disowned the faith and are worse than a person without faith. So it is contradictory to search for lost souls then neglect those you already have. God never did this Jesus offered himself willingly for mankind's welfare.. In our belief Missionaries do not have children it frees them up.

  • I too am a product of an overseas boarding school experience. And while there are some parallels, we were spared the extent of the brutality (at least most of us were) to those described at in this documentary.

  • @kenwanders We're glad to know that your experience was much better. Fortunately, like yourself, most were spared the extreme extent of brutality. But from what we understand even the early separation of children from their parents can leave life-long scars for some people.

  • @GHWP Now, that there are long-lasting (negative) results from being sent away from parents from the age of 5 ... I have no doubt. While MKs now have the advantage of 'professional psychological and spiritual help', in my life time ... at least when I was much younger than I am now, I had no such option, making every relationship ... especially in the immediate family much more difficult than might otherwise been.

But as one who believes in the sovereignty of God, I cling to His higher purpose.

  • What shocks me still, is the inappropriate application of Scripture ... to rationalize the "sacrificing of one's children for the sake of other lost ones" ... All I can think is that there had to be a lot of zealous folk, with little true understanding or comprehensive knowledge of the Scriptures.

  • @kenwanders Having said the above about "what shocks me" I have to follow up with the fact that I likely have little idea of the wickedness of my own heart, and my own areas of blindness ... but for the grace of God, and therefore, if I were in a place to "restore such a one ... must do so in a spirit of gentleness, considering myself lest I also be tempted. For if I were to think myself to be something [better], when I am nothing, I deceive myself" (Gal.6:1-3).

  • What a twisting of Scripture to have the notion that because God the Father sacrificed His Son ... missionaries should sacrifice their children (to hell if necessary) so as to reach and evangelize. One simply has to twist Scripture to come up with this notion ... and then by authoritarian means implement it. It's truly devilish. This required missionaries to meekly - and without question - obey a false notion that is in itself contrary to Scripture's mandate for parents to raise their kids.

  • Hello Very Good!

    I'm Working in chidren!

    Congratulations - Dinha.

  • @vincycacau Thank you, Dinah.

  • My heart goes out to all the families who have suffered both in the past and present at the hands of those so called priests who for their own twisted desires defiled, and betrayed the sanctity of God. Sadly this had been happening for centuries and will continue to happen as long as the Church continues to protect its own interests rather than the victims. It's no wonder why many have turned away from Church.

  • @sognodiangeli Thank you for your heartfelt thoughts.

    Viele Gruesse,

    Luci

  • You are all heros and great fighters in my book. I grew up in a little boarding school called Fanda in Senegal and I sat in shock as I watched your story. It's so similar to ours. Thank you, thank you for being brave and for fighting for what's RIGHT in the face of opposition.

  • @kedougou24 Thank you for your kind words. I'm sure the Mamou children and parents appreciate them.

We are all very familiar with the story of the Fanda Eagles. We admire your group for stepping up and fighting for the rights of the children of Fanda and the other countless schools. We always mention Fanda as an example that this was not something that stopped happening in the 70s but is still frighteningly common!

Keep up the good fight and much strength on your healing journey.

  • Wow this must have been a big project for you both, to put such a documentary together. I'd love to have a go at that myself.

  • @EdEditz Yes, Eddy, you're right. It was a really big project, which took several years to complete. The story is so important and everyone appearing in the film was so gracious, that we were able to keep going even through some set-backs. You really need to have good reason to get started on something of larger scope.

    Best wishes,

    Luci

  • @GHWP I can understand your drive in wanting to make this. It's an important message you're sending out, something which will touch and or shock a lot of people in their hearts. I really admire you and your partner for making this and I hope it gets lots of publicity.
