  • Ooooh,... This brings back some Great memories! Love It!

  • Love this! Thank you so much! I love the harmonies and the lyrics; what a picture they paint. Haven't we all seen (or been!) this guy?!

  • Sometimes I wonder where some get their inspirations for the songs?

So dark and gloomy but it's the melody that I listen for and not the lyrics.

  • Wayne Nelson and the guitar player really kick ass on this studio version,

  • The best moment in this great little song? In the third stanza, when the background singers chime in with "the night goes on and on ..." This is a terrific video -- I used to keep MTV/VH1 on all afternoon until this came up ... but that's back in the old days when they played ROCK VIDEOS ... anyone remember ?? hahaaaa

  • Those were the good old days... sure miss them. One of my favorite bands of the '70's.

  • Ya man! I dig it.

  • 30 years and still sounds current, like it came out yesterday. The definition of a true classic.

  • Great to hear and see the band play... Thanks!!!!

  • awesome song! Wish Time Life would get a collection of the video's of these classic songs on dvd's I would stock up on them. Wish music like this was still around.

  • Glenn Shorrock was the best era for the band, along with the four US hits John Farnham had with the band after Glenn left in the early 80's.

  • Still rock this song out 2011 love it!!!

  • Wolverine is on the drums...Gyeah

  • Thank you so much!

  • Remeber when music was played by musician with instruments? Remember how the songs had great lyrics and weren't filled with bitch, ho, and tons of cuss words. Ahhhh The good old days.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks for posting this- i always enjoyed hearing this song

  • I miss the days when ugly white guys made kick-ass music. No image makeovers here. Most of them look like junior-high teachers, but they sound AMAZING!

  • @jaxx0n5 No kidding and that's how it should be! About the music, not the boy band look. That's what's lacking in music these days.

  • LRB hit #6 in Billboard, 11-7-81. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • Very few bands have glorious harmonies and this is one of them :)

  • THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES FOR THIS SONG AND VID!!!!!

  • Killer guitar solos all the way ti the end!

  • @toymaster7425 Exactly, that solo at the end totally makes the song!

  • @RadioStarSF2 I saw the Little River Band at an outdoor festival in Vernon Hills, IL on August 22, 2001. I saw Wayne Nelson and went over and introduced myself to him across the fence, got his autograph right before they started. Unfortunately I don't know why but the same lead guitar player played parts of the solo like the original recording and then played some other licks too. Nothing beats the record. I saw Boston LIVE. Tom Scholz and Barry played the solo exactly like the record.

  • @toymaster7425 The solos I've seen played live on this song are good but I agree nothing beats the album version...it's one of those solos that sticks in your mind forever!

  • great song....!!!!!!!

  • I remember when this song came out i really liked it.I was 10 at the time.

  • @munster322 Yeah I was 10 at the time too, 4th grade

  • That is a real end of the world sound at 2:23-2:25

  • this is a Great song, thanks for posting it!!! I could listen to this song 24 hours a day and not get tired of it,EVER!!!!

  • @asom63 I totally agree, if I was stuck on an island I could never get tired of this song. Miss the days when thge radio would play it.

  • I hate that the current Little River Band has rearranged all of the good ole hits. NOW, the suck.

  • @c130man24 I hate it when bands do that to their classic hits, leave good enough alone.

  • David Briggs guitar solo at the end of this is one that sticks in your head forever, I miss when music sounded like this!

  • @CameronShaft I think Stephen Housden did the guitar solo at the end.

  • @cparkes92 You sure? I read the Little River band Wikopedia and it said that David Briggs left the band right as that album was being released which meant he must have recorded on it before leaving. I tried to post you the link but You Tube won't let me for some reason.

  • @CameronShaft It does look like Briggs in this video, so he did do this album. That means Housden and Farnham joined at about the same time.

  • @cparkes92 I believe that's how it went, Briggs quit because he didn't like the progressive direction the band was going which is a shame because it really exposed some of his best work. I think Schrock was fired shortly afterwards.

  • @RadioStarSF2 This video is posted with better quality elsewhere on YouTube and it looks like Stephen Housden is playing in this video (along with Take It Easy on Me), but I do know David Briggs played on the album. And I don't think Shorrock was fired; I think he left on his own accord.

  • @cparkes92 Really that's Stephen Houdsen playing the solo in the video? I read in the biography that Schrock was forced out of the band.

  • @cparkes92 I can't find this video in better quality. Can you help me find the one you're talking about?

  • And the other lead singer looks like Al Borland from Home Improvement!

  • Thank you for posting this awesome song, they don't make songs like this anymore!

  • My very favorite by this awesome band--80's music at it's best. Wolfsky9

  • @retrogirl85 I'm talkin SOLO career's. Not within the band.

  • I don't know what many of my old classmates had against this dang classic. I guess they didn't appreciate it because it wasn't headbanger music. To each his own.

  • @CaptGage I am a Headbanger but LRB rule.

  • Same here!

  • One of the truly awesome things about the Little River Band is they actually had 3 or 4 guys in the band sing lead vocals and they all had hit songs!! Takin a guess but i'm pretty sure your not going to find another band out there that did that.

  • @luvinevryminitofit88 You mean other than the Beatles? Or Eagles? Or BNL? Or ...

  • @jeff9499 Right on Stugotz....good call...lol.

  • @luvinevryminitofit88 Actually, KISS pulled it off. The original KISS had 4 members, they all sang lead vocals, and they all had hits. Not to detract from LRB, beacuse they obviously kick ass!!

  • @luvinevryminitofit88 Other than The Beach Boys, you're right. And I say that, as a lifetime BB Fan & of LRB also. Serious rockers, all. Wolfsky9

  • Little River Band toinght!

  • oww

  • LOVE THIS SONG<3

  • For those who thought LRB was just a soft-rock outfit needs to check out more of their heavier stuff from their earlier yrs. This is proably their hardest rocking hit from the Shorrick era.

  • Always loved the tenable power of this song.

As a DJ and Program Director, I knew this song was a radio hit immediately. I lived in Fresno 1981-93 and saw these guys at Fresno County Fairgrounds one summer Tuesday evening as part of the County Fair music program 1982(?). After they finished this song, the 15,000+ people went nuts on their feet screaming forever. I remember the singer said "...well, this may be Fresno and a Tuesday night, but you people are great!..." Never forgot that.

  • @GereDJ I used to live in Fresno and remember this song back in 1982. Which station did you DJ at?

  • he is the amreican bass player, your close

  • rook

  • love this song such a awesome band

  • awesome tune.....kool!!!!!

  • I can see why some think he looks like Ron Howard ijn this video, but they only show his profile here. If you look at "Lonesome Loser", they show him straight on and he looks nothing like Ron Howard. (Plus he has a good head of hair lol) Great voice, great band. We could use more like them these days, that's for sure.

  • @AlexaKL64 I agree he only looks like Ron Howard from the side view.

  • the always made such sad, dark , depressing sounding songs

  • this is a good song...why?....i dont know why...my mom played this always

  • i dont know about richie cunningham but i was scoping those lips!

  • Happy Days

  • theres nothing any 1 like night owls ever

  • AMAZING GROUP!!!!!!!!! So underrated!!!!!!!

  • I still have it on 45. Way back in the day........

  • I think I still have this on 8 track somewhere and I know I have on record, lol

  • XD I so love this band

  • if I produce my movie imma put this song on it coz it has the same meaning in it.

  • Okay,am I the only one here who thinks the singer looks like Ritchie Cunningham?

  • Uh yeah definitely looks nothing like richie cunningham...lol

    Just my opinion :)

  • Je, Je after you said that and I reviewed a couple of times..you are right..but it is at a quick glance!

  • no your not.

  • Maybe not Richie Cunningham, but perhaps Ron Howard:) Ha Ha, really though, youi're so right. I said the same thing 1st time I saw it.

  • Oh btw, besides the Richie Cunningham look, MAN THE GUY CAN SING!

  • i always thought i was the only one who thought he looked like Ron Howard

  • @mateo666555 No I think he looks like Angus Young donning Brian Johnson's hat.

  • @mateo666555 Unbeleivable In the opening scene, he looks exactly like Ritchie. I'm looking for Bag playing the drums.

  • @mateo666555 .yeah and hes as bald as Cunningham too

  • @mateo666555 He totally does!

  • This is such a great song!! Thanks for posting. What ever happened to these guys?

  • thank you so much for the music video this is one of my favorite songs XDD

  • awsome song, you never hear this song anymore!!!

  • @golddustwoman1969 Just heard it on the radio today....105.9 BOB FM

  • @golddustwoman1969 i know,this still rocks and it's never old.

  • wat a great song

  • I used to watch a lot of mtv in the early 80's and don't remember ever seeing this video. Still one of my favorite songs. Thanks so much for posting it.

  • I remember this great track...early 80s?? I must've been about 13 and I really like the melodic minor key here (Could be D minor).

Living in the UK now, and it still brings back great memories. Aussies can push out great stuff.

  • 1981.

  • One of my favorites from the Little River Band, especially coming out during the hard rock era (as in, the Disco v. Rock wars). The extended ending -- which this version has! -- is a MUST (even though the rest of the abridgement is OK IMHO). Thanks much for this great memory!

  • thanks ever so! Love it!

  • The first time I ever heard this song was when it was in the movie Bad Boys with Sean Penn. Great flic and great tune.

  • This is hard pop. It just rocks. No other band could find those harmonies.

  • Remember -arcades(pac-man, defender), journey, alan parsons and this song. good times and great music! He's out there still he's the night owl baby!

  • thank you so much for getting the actually vidoe

  • Beeb Birtles looks a lot like Ron Howard during his Happy Days years as Ritchie Cunningham, especially at 0:21 and 0:33.

  • Actually make that Wayne Nelson, not Beeb Birtles.

  • Love, love, love this song.

  • The LRB was one of those groups that just knocked everyone's socks off. They had the just the right formula with a load of great sound each and every time, highlighted especially by songs like this one.

  • rich harmonies, just an great fat sound to this band.

  • this song is the bomb - one of my all time favorites - cant help but move to the beat. good music like this lives forever

  • Litterly for Lofgren. :)

  • SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!

  • love this song!!!!!! all the good music...*sigh* y is it so hard to find this stuff

  • I agree! I couldn't find this video ANYWHERE!

  • GREAT find....thanks for posting it!!
