  • haha we read this in lit and we watched this. way too funny

  • Our history teacher showed us this the other day. Being in 7th grade we thought it would be a history channel type thing. We all started laughing so hard!

  • @RoastedKittyFood glad to hear you all liked it :)

  • We read the Odessey for English class, and our teacher said, "If you are confused, watch this video and it will make sense." Our class laughed our butts off. :D

  • This is brilliant! Ever though of doing an Aeneid version?

  • @mintyeejit We've thought of doing other stories in 15 seconds but somehow have never got round to it!

  • "Hi honey I'm home" LOL Great stuff.

I read the entire epic in hexameters a few years ago and I truly enjoyed it!!!

A story about freedom, danger and adventure ... A hero who needs help from the gods, but still makes his OWN decisions ...

If I had a time machine I'd go back to those days ... Speaking of which: anybody know the film "Time Bandits"?

  • I think it's pretty hideous

  • AWESOME!! XD

  • hahaha..........its funny lol..........:P

  • i'm prettty sure i could've JUST watched this and taken my quiz instead of reading it.......

  • only thing unvalid at the end was when Odysseus came home, he killed the suitors with his bow and arrow not a sword lol

  • LOL Excellent! Now maybe I'll pass my test!

  • The real melesigenes - homer or what?:-)

  • Now that's a good version.

I had to watch a boring movie about it at greek class, and it sucked!

  • the actual story takes up about 20 years...

  • amazing :) that was probably better than the movie

  • well...that was very educational =P if only school periods lasted that long

    or our teacher's...

  • Today your teacher tried to show us this but only the most weird sound of all time came out.

  • Best. Ever.

  • i will show this on my presentation! it is just great!

  • His name was either Odysseus or Ulysses. It was just a variation of spelling. Like Athena or Athene

  • my teacher showed this in my Omnibus class when we were reading the Odyssey

  • I have to show my teacher this lmao

  • Odysseus "WOAH! Son, you aged 20 years in 15 seconds! what's up with that?"

  • just in 15 seconds man that is so fast !!!!

  • 33 people need to be zapped by witches and eaten by Polyphemus.

  • Lol, I had to read this over the summer. This video basically sums it up

  • I am so pleased right now.

  • you didn't include all of it!

  • here i thought this was actually going to help... good thing i actually read the book

  • good to know....

  • hahahaha nice!

  • lol i just got done reading the adventures of ulysses

  • its much to long!

  • well done

  • greek mythology FTW!!! X'D

  • My class watched this video before we had to read it and it was confusing and now that i read the stupid book it makes total sense.

  • I read all the books This covers up to the Home coming very well Great viedo!

  • hahaha wow someone read the book!

  • wow that was very good.

  • I ahnania homne :D

  • I think it's just like saying "Tolkein's Lord of the Rings" or "Rowling's Harry Potter" or "Brown's Da Vinci Code"

  • Not that, though you are right. I meant, odysseus favors closely to Odyssey. Not much thought was seemingly put into it, though it was kind of a trend back then I imagine.

  • Or "Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon"!

  • @brothermcleod Or "Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon"!

  • @xsonz2 I'm not sure what you're getting at. I hope that you know that the word 'odyssey' is based on the name 'Odysseus'? That's not so creative at all..

  • @asdfasdfasddff yes, I understand this. Thats what im getting at, they are plainly done similerly by the author. I guess it would be slightly more relevant if Odysseus was a commen name, but I doubt it. The connection between the two are meant to be plainly obvious, but why? Just so the reader would remember the name?

  • @xsonz2 he was regarded as Odysseus, but his real name was Ulisses

  • @xsonz2 : Yeah the character's named after the story, right? I know, how dumb. It would make much more sense to name the story after the character... oh wait!

  • @xsonz2 We are not even sure whether the "Odyssey" was its original name at all. Generally speaking, the first words/line of a poem was often also its title. In this way, Virgil's Aeneid was originally called "Arma verumque cano" (the first three words of the poem) and 'Aeneid' was a later invention. So, perhaps, the Odyssey's original name was "Andra moi ennepe" (transliterated from ancient Greek).

  • our teacher actually showed us this video in our english class when we were starting to read The Odyssey, Super awesome XD

  • I'm very pleased about that!

  • @plainoutofthisworld Lolz our english teacher did the same thing today XD

  • @plainoutofthisworld

    same here

  • u forgot athena and zeus and that isn't whathomer from greek mthology looked like and homer didn't kill people he almost got killed

  • I think you may be taking it a bit seriously. And btw the main character in Homer's Odyssey isn't Homer - it's Odysseus. Homer is the author of the story. And Odysseus certainly did kill people.

  • when the hell did i write this??

  • IN THE FUTURE?

  • Odysseus(I am pretty sure you are not talking about Homer the poet.) did kill people. He was in a freaking war, and he killed all the suitors and the maids who slept with them.

  • Odysseus was a pirate! He sacked a city full of women and children for no very good reason.

Then gets cross when the Phaecians accused him of bieng a "trader".

    Strange man.

  • Wow... Awesome!!! :) One of my favorite things I read in high school.

  • you forgot Syclla and Chardabis! They were thr best part! goo d job anyways!

  • thas was very quik summary of odysses, nice job.

  • Its sad....that hes right...

  • awesome a 500 page poem cut down to 15 seconds i love it

  • @speed10641 I though it was prose?

  • @warofthemonsters1 I believe it's known as an 'Epic Poem' like Milton's Paradise Lost and others :)

  • hahahaha hi honey i'm home XD

  • Excellant!!

  • Lol, that was excellent!!

    XxXx.

  • Did you make a point on the 1 sec per year of travels or was it by accident?

  • That wasn't deliberate. Also I think it took him ten years to get home, plus the ten years he was held captive by Calypso (if my memory is right!)

  • makes sense.

  • that was awesome...lol...nice job

  • Um... I think I still have to read the book, but thanks.

  • Thank You so much! That saved me alot of reading

  • hahahahahaahah he stepped on his own dog lol

  • wait who gives the bag of the winds to who?

  • lol i so needed this 4 school hahaha

  • that pretty much sums it up!

  • Totally brilliant.

  • Amazing.

  • lol i read the odyssey :P but i dont recall a part where Odysseus' soldiers are pigs and get squished by a man throwing a rock.

  • Hi Faruh123. It's two parts of the story telescoped together - the part where Circe turns the soldiers into pigs. The second part is a reference to the ogres of Antiphates who threw rocks onto Odysseus' men.

  • OHhhhhhh thanks for the clear up man, and really good job on this animation, i dont think anyone has done anything like this before on the Odyssey so kudos.

  • you should make one on the iliad

  • iliad was boring kinda. 2/3 of book were telling who the people were

  • lol we watched this in language arts and we all laughed our heads off

  • Thank YOU! I need to write a report and this is what I will base it off of.

  • i dont think that that is a very good idea conidering that it isnt that accurate

  • That sums it up about right, lol.

  • stupid video

  • What no Telemachus? lol Or is that pt 2?

  • that was pretty accurate

  • lmao i saw up 2 the end of the cyclops part in english :)
