Expert version of Venom is much more difficult than in the hard route. Good thing I beat it anyway with all medals on both Main and Expert modes!

Conclusion: yup, hard level. (I always go for the medal on every level, and when I got to this one I also died. Like 9 times)

@falkenjeff Each of the five times I died was within the first 30 seconds, so that first onslaught of enemies is what I would consider to be the real difficulty. I actually had a lot of fun once I got past that.

Is Peppy's path more difficult? I followed Falco in this simply because it is the path I remembered the best.

@demensionflip Well you see what Nintendo did was they had two versions of Venom, and the idea was that one way led to a decoy Andross and the other led to the real Andross. Decoy Andross is revealed to be a robot once you blow his face off, where as the real thing has a brain. So in order to actually beat the villain and get the "true ending" you need to be good enough to get to and beat Area 6. I guess it is kind of like how some games (Doom comes to mind) didn't let you play far on easy mode.

Hmm, it might also seem that another difference between normal and expert mode is that you take alot more damage from colliding with enemies or the ground, etc., as I noticed at 0:14 that right when you hitted that enemy and your wing broke off, you took a shitload of damage more than from a shot, but I don't know for sure, might be the same amount of damage you take in normal mode.

The only thing I hate about expert mode is that wings break of easily when the Arwing collides with a solid object. I mean, I don't mind having more enemies which are hard to kill and more damage, but broken wings are extremely frustating. you can consider yourself lucky if you survive with wings intact on a level/

In Expert Mode, enemies have a little more health than normal. It's a pain in the neck at Sector Z, it makes dealing with the Copperheads very hard work. Also, taking the warp at Sector X takes a few more laser shots for each gate, if you don't have Bill, you'll need to hold down that brake button!

Well I finally managed to ressurect my N64 and play this game, and apparently the reason I couldn't get the medals on some of the planets was because I don't do charged shots often.

So I collect all the medals and after several years I check out Expert mode...I got all the medals on the first try but Sector Z was a pain in the ass because of the other pilots shooting the missles along with Venom I for killing me over 10 times...concordat you're right, they need to make the next game harder.

Actually Venom 2 is pretty damn hard if you lose your wings. Which happens all to quickly. Besides, either route is somewhat connected to the level before it. Venom 1 is similiar to Area 6 (lots of enemies), while Venom 2 is similiar to Bolse (all-range, Star Wolf).
