You should really take more attention to the Atari 800 version of that game, which has been done to fit to the movie, and has been released later as "Starraiders 2".
I love this movie. I believe the real reason the film didn't do as well in the box office was because the producers decided to cut the polygons in half because they got cheap at the last minute. This cause the all CGI special effects to look half a real as they could have.
Either way its a great films with excellent acting. I still enjoy watching it today! I hope someday they will make a sequel.
The people who made that last-star-fighter game on the NES should have been sued by the makers of URIDIUM ( watch?v=Ooby_M9XwUY ) also in the film, the arcade game sent a signal out into space if you reach a level of proficiency which indicated to the aliens you could be of great use in the real space war :)
Yea that game is a rip of of Uridium on the C64, i don't know if craftgold were Hewson-soft or whatever, but either way, its a rip off using a film name to increase sales, I know the NES was grot even back then...
I'm glad I found this video. I was looking at possibly buying this on eBay and have since decided not to. :) I do have the Atari game you showed pictures of and thoroughly enjoyed it. It did have some issues in aiming (destroying the large ships was as simple as leading them to the cities they wanted to bomb and then moving up so the city more or less scrolled past the bomber. Ultimately, the idea of defending your cities and then launching an attack on the Ko-Dan made this game unigue and fun.
yeah, I had this game growing up. It was pretty tricky. When you reached the point where you were supposed to land, we didnt know what buttons to press, so we made the ship do rounds across the landing strip while we mashed the buttons with our palms. Eventually the ship would land or be blown up. It was very educational : p
hi i was born in 79- i remeber the last star fighter it was my faviote childhood movie ive watch it still today i know the should make a new one but the could never do it as good because 80's movies people could act and there was just the feeling there this movie is my number 1 movie..
just go to RS and download the computer version. it says you need a joystick but you dont. you just have to dick around with it for a while to figure out the controls. i like the game, and i'm thinking about creating an arcade cab for it. peace...
i think there should be a sequel to the last starfighter. not as a movie but a video game. i think the story should revolve around a new recruit to the starfighter league, the return of xur, and a new type of starfighter. it should be for the wii, i think it might be great. if you have any ideas for a last starfighter video game, i would like to hear it. i won't give it to the game companies but i thought it would be a great idea to debate about this.
i was reading an old game informer magazine one day, and on the guess the game thing it said that the last starfighter arcade game was going to be remade for xbox 360 live. i don't know if it is a rumor or something else. i think they need to bring it to live.
p.s. i think the last starfighter should get a sequel. i think it should be an animated movie (i also should think it should be in anime) what do you think- anime, american animation, or live animation?
tell me about it. back in the 90s animation was great (in my opinion) but now it all gone (like the wind). if either nintendo (or microsoft) can pull off a a great last starfighter game (if possibe in japanese animation) i will buy it. i love this movie, i used to watch it and wonder how fan technology has come. thanks for emailing me, i have to go now.
It was on the C64, but I never had a chance to use the C64 so I wouldn't know, it is however available on the virtual console if you happen to live in Europe...
I like eighties movies. And I played the sega genisis when I was one. But this is a reveiw that is classic oriented. Not all reveiwers are going to reveiw modern games.

It has been very much fun to play it back then.

I did beat this game but the ending is complete crap, you blow up the place then the game calls you a chicken or something like that.

@pcvideogamer
I believe Graftgold developed both versions and Mindscape only published the NES version.

Anime, I think.
American animation is so crude looking these days.

Well, that sucks. The movie was pretty good for it's time. Maybe someone will go back and make a next-gen game for it.

So does that arcade machine really exist? with the actual game from the film?
Always wondered if they made the game, thought it looked awesome in the film.
sidewaysbrown 3 years ago
I think some people made a game of it later on, there's some neat versions if you search 'em here. :)

I saw the movie once when I was a kid. I use to have it on VHS, never knew there was an actual game though.

Plus these games are good. Most ps3 aND XBOX games are terible and this e3 was on of the most dissapointing e3 ever. It was 90 percet sequels.

Wow, never realized Last Star Fighter didn't do well in theaters. Its a fond memory among all my friends and I.

The cover of Solaris has the same artwork as Star Raiders, that's odd. Star Raiders was a 2600 game which included a keypad in the box.

I guess you're supposed to land somewhere at the end of the level right? I have no idea. But yeah, this is identical to Uridium for the C64.
