  • Have always respected and enjoyed Kolyer and Barber! Kolyer had that rich earthieness that harked back to the New Orleans traditions; Barber much more arranged, still great to listen to! Thanks for your uploads, you are sharing the joy! I mostly heard them in concerts in Glasgow, Scotland UK, now I live in Denver Colorado USA.

  • For New Orleans jazz, check Bunk Johnson 1942; Paul Barbarin's bands; American Music recordings (Wooden Joe Nicholas); Young Tuxedo Brass Band 1958; Eureka Brass Band; George Lewis early 1950s. etc.

  • Monty Sunshine played with the (my) Rainier Jazz Band on a weekend at the Vancouver Hot Jazz Club in early 1980s I believe....Magical night...Thank you for posting this man! Randy

  • Ken, of course, stayed true to New Orleans music. Chris Barber went on to invent the execrable "trad."

  • I don't exactly understand what the diffrence is between trad jazz and New Orleans jazz? Can you explain?

    Im a newbie..sorry hehe
