hey i have also 3gs and i bought cable from amazon.com but is not the original cable from apple store so when i try to connect the cable in to my iphone it's saying that the iphone is support the cable. so to i have to put only the apple cable only...

I have a 3gs 4.2.1 and i bought these cables and cant get them to work. They work fine on my ipod 4g 4.2.1. I dont understand why they dont work. Especially for $50

@MrChrisd1980 X2, i bought the $50 cable original from apple and i can't make them work on my 3GS but they work with my iPod Video (5G) from 2006! Why?

I have a non-jailbroken 3GS, and using the five-cable (component AV) cables is sweet. The only downside: on a 3GS, it only outputs from the iPod app. I have other apps, like CineXPlayer (which can play .avi files) but there's only support for full AV output for the iPhone 4 or 4th generation iPod Touch with these programs.

So I guess I'll have to continue converting any DivX and XviD (.avi) files I come across into .m4v or .mov files before loading them into the iPhone. But still impressive...

@CelebTalkWithDavid yeah of course, its an AV in on the tv, in particular this cable was an RCA so the red, white, and yellow cables.. but there are other versions of the apple cable

@Rompela12 only with jailbreak.. there are tv out packages on cydia that let you view any application on your tv

@TAITES17 yes, there is a jailbreak mod name TVOut i believe that lets you make any application output onto the TV. I believe theres another called TVout2 which also supports rotation

hehe yeah i got it like 6 months ago and for some reason just realized yesterday that now i was presented with an opportunity to actually make use of it (no source of video for my tv in my bedroom)... but.. sad thing is im probably still going to go out and get the HDMI version.
