Well, if by "superpower" you mean usa, you should admit that it has been such for only 20 years, after the end of the USSR and before Chinese economy raised to the nowadays level.
Now the oil prises will balance the western economics a little bit, in technological level Russia needed financing - now it has it, and hardly ever there is any field in which we cannot compete now with the west.
20 years is not a ground to construct illusions about eternal superpowers, everything changes.
