I'd love to see this with a little better video and audio. Great stuff. Thank you for taking the time to post this and make the effort with a cell phone cam. A+ In a perfect world, we would all have handicams at the ready.
This is from a cell phone, so OF COURSE the video and sound are crap. BUT I WAS THERE AND IT WAS GREAT. THE CROWD WENT NUTS. SOUNDED FINE. AWESOME SHOW.
I'm sorry for the negative comment... but this sucks. A ghost of the greatness that once was. Maybe it's because it's the cheesiest member of the original group (JW). Thanks for posting anyway.
Commenting on radio play in the states that is really subjective to what area you live in. I grew up in the San Francisco( San Jose to be exact) area and KSJO KOME played a great range of music. I live in Salem Oregon now and the stations here suck! they play the same old and new bands over and over.
good point and I would agree with you if he did a good job at singing them, but looking at this clip all i can see is him butchering a fine song, not too mention that he is an arsehole.
Ya I get the point that it's boring singing the same song the same way year after year but this sounds much like what Roth does in Vanhalen kinda like a bad night of karaoke
Why is he not in sync with the band. It was one of my favorite Babys songs and he is not even singing it well. And what was with the mic stand incident. He completely skipped lyrics to remove the mic from the stand? This is awful!!
John only plays a handful of Babys songs at his shows. Considering he has had much more chart success with his solo career than the Babys unfortunately ever expeienced--I would hardly call that riding the Babys coat tails
Depends which country you live in regarding his chart success for a start.Babys material has only charted where I come from. Secondly, he screwed over the founding members of The Babys and then went on to think it was his band and the rest were there just to back him up, so forgive me for disliking him playing any Babys material. He doesn't deserve to sing any Babys songs. He is shit in my eyes.
Well I don't know if he went on to consider it his band or not. Sadly in the states anyway--if it weren't for John Waite and the die hard Journey fans that are familiar with Jonathon Cain--no one in the States would even know who the Babys were. Which is a shame because they were a great band. They just never got the recognition that they deserved.
they never got the recognition that was deserved because the other Babys allowed themselves to be sold out to a corrupt record company whilst the person that hired them in the first place was ousted because he started asking questions. Then rot set in. People in the States knew who The Babys were, they toured there. I don't know what gives you that idea.
They knew then. They don't know now. Radio doesn't play them here. Not even on the classic rock stations. I tell people who the Babys were and they look at me like...."huh? Who were the Babys?" It's sad. I'm glad that John does play those handful of Babys songs at his shows. It keeps the music alive.
thanks for your insights. we will agree to disagree i think on this artist. i understand what you say about him playing Babys songs, but since he doesn't speak about anything to do with The Babys in a positive light, i think he should leave Babys material out of his shows. that is my opinion and i respect yours. The Babys memory deserves better than his disgusting attitude towards them.
Hey former bar banders- anyone else remember - good luck slappin' this one out at midnight? Thunder bass? How many remember the very last line in the song? Too fun!! 80's Babys rock!!!!
HAHAHA! I sure do remember THAT line VERY WELL!!! I used to CRANK that tune up (never really liked music VERY loud) just to hear ALL the fades so I could get all I could... it shocked me! This song practically DOMINATED the airwaves in it's time and seemed to perfectly avoid censorship!!! :) What did you mean "slappin' this one out and Thunder Bass? ;)
Also, did you know the band 707 "Megaforce" was co-written by Jonathan Cain? :)
"Slappin'" is a technique used by bassists in order to accentuate volume. Drummers and bassists just love to create thunder! Thank you for your question. Next? If y'all like John Waite see if you can find his interview on the Bob & Tom Show. It was too cool! Baby's Rock!!!
the backing band did a great job, talk about some bragging rights!

F all of those negative comments. Everyone has a Bad night & JW has too much of a killer history - don't forget. So what the sound was off.
No more monday morning Quarterbacking and stop with the sheeple mentality. Bahhh, let's kick a Rock Star while he's down.. Bah, Bah, Bah..

Please remove this video....it's production values are non-existent and not really indicative of how the band sounds live.

Man, KSJO went belly up a few years ago. Turned into a Mexican station. I was pissed. 35 years of memories down the toilet...
