Very amusing since we kicked the poms out in 1922 and graciously received her this year despite the savagery and genocide they practiced over hundreds of years. The poms owe much
Our beloved Queen who is 86 years of age in 2012, and has reigned for 60 years over ALL her peoples with dignity and kindness. Australia you may not have time for the poms, but you should respect this great Lady. It takes an irishman to comment 'uh matey' - we expect nothing else from this curse of a Nation -Ireland who lives off the British Taxpayer, and then insults us. Our Queen - yes we are very proud of her. Better than having an ugly republic - like Ireland.
@endofday11 Despite being the rebel American, I must say that for all Her Majesty's accomplishments, she still presided over the deconstruction, hence destruction , of the once great British Empire. Under her watch, Britain declined to a second rate power from a first rate power...still even I say: "God Save the Queen"
God Save the Queen ceased to be the national anthem in 1984 but was made the Royal Anthem
PROCLAMATION
By His Excellency the
Governor-General of
the Commonwealth of
Australia
I, SIR NINIAN MARTIN STEPHEN, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby declare - that the anthem "God Save The Queen" shall henceforth be known as the Royal Anthem ...
@irishgodfatherchris surely our use of the anthem does not relate to the winning of things as ephemeral as olympic gold medals :-) The tune was in use after an opinion poll in 1974 and then more officially after the national poll in 1977
@MultiSnakeman no actually our Constitution states that she is the Queen of Australia for the purpose of swearing allegiance to because its illegal to swear loyalty to a foreign nation or person, so for the purposes of official protocol when she is in Australia and she say gives royal assent to bills, she does so as the Queen of Australia not the Queen of the United Kingdom
notice god save the queen is first THATS GOOd

@MTPatriot Here Dad, George VI did that. Only South Africa and Fiji (and a one other I think) have become republics since her reign began.
