I remember when I was 11 years old, I got my first Ipod. And my dad wanted to put some of his favorite music (Bruce Springsteen) on it too, so I could listen to 'real music'. Today, I'm 16 years old, and I'm so glad my dad made me listen to Springsteen. I'm not like most other girls, who only listen to Katy Perry or Justin Bieber, but I'm a huge Springsteen fan. And next summer, I'm going to see Bruce Springsteen live with my dad and that will be a dream come true. I love my dad! (and Bruce)
@Frip36 Ok, this is enough for me. I don't wanna spend my time fighting on youtube about such things. I'd just like to add that this performance -the first time he played the River live- is famous among Springsteen fans also for the TEARS, which are considered to be a great thing not a bad one. You can read about this story in several books about Bruce and it's not only a girl's fantasy.
@Frip36 Never mind! it's always good to discuss and share opinions with other fans. If someone is ready to fight about these things, it certainly means he's really into Bruce's music and this is great. I think Bruce Springsteen has got some very good, diehard fans round here!
And now, please forgive my English if I made any mistakes in my previous comments. Bye!
@ireneadler17 Just to help you a bit. When reconciling or agreeing with someone in English, one doesn't say "Never mind!". One says, "It's OK" or "I understand" or "Oh, that makes sense".
this was part of (german?) TV documentary that i used to watch over and over again as a kid. unfortunately i threw away the tape, when i got a dvd-player. does anybody know what this doc was called and where to get it?
@AlbertSiebener It's from the No Nukes concerts held in september 1979 as a reaction to the nuclear accident at Harrisburg/three mile island. Clip was released as part of a video with live stuff in 1989 'Anthology' it was called I believe.
@Frip36 They're there. Look at how he blinks from 2:56 on and then cleans his eyes with his sleeve. You can see him blinking like that until he takes the mic and moves away from the camera. I know you can't see the tears clearly because of the lights and the sweat on Bruce's face, but people blink like that only when they're crying...or when a bug enters their eyes, which I don't think is the case.

@ireneadler17 I understand now. I wasn't aware of that. Thank you. This is probably my favorite live performance ever. No hard feelings.

But I remember us riding in my brother's car
Her body tan and wet down at the reservoir
At night on them banks I'd lie awake
And pull her close just to feel each breath she'd take
Real lyrics.

If anyone still had doubts about what it means to really feel what you're singing of...
The tears down his cheeks can't lie.
Amazing...no words.
