CS 1.1 was by far the best version and although every new release got more and more noob friendly, up until 1.6 they were still good. CZ was basically 1.6 with slightly better visuals and should have been a free upgrade for 1.6 owners or just never been made. CS:S is an absolute disaster in terms of gameplay, which is amazing because the HL2 engine had such high potential for a real CS2. I still have a little hope for CS:GO, but I won't be surprised either if it sucks even more than CS:S.

Wow, super amazing comparison of de_dust2 in exact locations for each of the 4 main games. Each shot is perfectly aligned so I guess some console commands made each shot in the exact part of the map. As each random transition applies the graphics do seem to increase slightly better. Very good and accurate comparison for the most popular map in CS.

Prefer 1.6, graphics aren't a big deal really. What made cs work was that it was counter-strike, thats why it had such a long lifespand, I mean it was one of the "earlier" online fps games, they didnt do anything revolutionary but what they did, was everything right. In game economy, gun balance, balanced map which rarely favored either sides, if any. The most important thing though, the communities, the moders, without them cs would literally never happened. Hope CS:GO is still Counter-Strike<3

@Nuhjeea counterstrike players are not easily won over by a shitty game with awesome graphics (e.g. Cod). As long as the game plays well, graphics mean nothing. In fact when I play css I turn the graphics all the way down - I seem to play better that way. The simpler textures and models produce faster target recognition for me, and help me judge distance and movement faster without my mind having to filter through all the fancy models and textures first.

But i disagree about the game having awesome graphics o.o I understand playing with low graphics since it's easier to see everything, but I think it's nice to have a visually appealing game too. I play a lot of shooters... currently Tribes which I think is a great FPS and I put the graphics up pretty high ;)
