WOW VERY POOJ JOB. Its pretty simple to knock down an engine compartment fire. When you arrive Step 1: pop hood, either with the ood release under the steering wheel or with your marrage. Step 2: get water can or A.B.C extinguisher and spray inside engine compartmant. Step 3: check for exposher to pashanger compartment and go home. Sorry to say this mstabspeople but your local fire Dept sucks...
That's just absolutely PATHETIC!! They could have put it out with a water can if they had opened the hood when they first got there! That pump operator would have been riding in the back on the way home. Most cars are junk after they've been on fire, but that one could have been repaired quite easily if that dept. had been able to adapt to a problem and try something else. Poor training and leadership for sure.
typical firemen... totally clueless unles they have a building on fire or a cat up a tree.Even then it's a case of ..'get a big hose out ' and drown the property... Why bother sending these bozos out. Let them do what they do best... snore all shift and get paid for it. What a joke ...!
They need some equipment training for sure. Wasted a lot of water at first and then couldn't open the hood. I can't figure out why they didn't just pop the release lever inside when they broke in? That vehicle wasn't totaled by the fire. But the fire dept made sure it was junk by the time they finished with it.
@bapabob 1st: The operator and officer prior to this crew need a talking to for leaving that bumper turret open. 2nd: Most release levers aren't levers they're cables and they're plastic in nature so it dosen't even take alot of fire, just heat like here, and the cable melts/burns through and becomes inop. Also ever heard of steam conversion? If done correctly you can put out & overhaul a fully involved pickup or car with 200 gallons.
@tomlillie317 The bumper turret was obviously exposure protection fo the Chiefs car. Dont forget RECEOS. There was no rescue so exposure protection was next on their list. Don't be so critical. LOL...
Take the Halligan bar and ram that point right trhu the hood. Bend the corner up and shove the nozzle in to knock the fire down then open it. Of course if they had wet down the jeep instead of the chiefs truck it probably would've went better.
bugguy905, just so u know retard i have more experience then u could imagine, 12years+ rookie, been to plenty of jobs, this dept needs a little leadership. oh yeah besides 12+years, fire level 2, driver operator, hazmat tech, instructor and by the way this will end up in the what not to parts of my classes, i love good training videos
Gee, thanks for not helping out my local fire dept. If you have so much more experience and training, why not stop acting like a 12 year old hiding behind a keyboard talking shit on youtube and actually offer some help. You hold classes too? Yeah that all we need, more shitty firefighters with gender issues and shitty attitudes. Thanks for nothing, dick..
also that fire would have plenty of oxygen so openning the hood fast or slow really wont make that much of a differnce, just make sure u have water ready and apparently they did with the deluge gun...lol'
wtf...no wonder why they cant get a real wagon...no funding since they cant even get a car job right...they should of tried and hit the hood latch in the passenger compartment to open it if that doesnt work then go to prying or what ever they think that was
what fire training you have dip shit .. unless you walk the walk do not talk the talk oh btw dip shit they probly have a real wagon just not taking it out on a car fire.
The company has a wagon if u watch twards the end it arrives on scene a little late. I know this becacuse i belong to a company down the road from them.
what they r doing w/ the water at 40 seconds is flushing ot the pips and pumps its a normal procedure that happens alot. hopes this clears the "what are they doing with that water" ques.
U my friend are an idiot....I personally have never had to do this so called "normal procedure", nor I have ever heard of it having to be done(except after drafting from a pond). Think before you speak num nuts. They probably left a discharge valve open, and when the driver put the truck in pump, well you saw what happens.
dude just chill the were probally being cations of what they were doing as if the pop the hood to fast then the oxygen if there was a fire would have made the fire worse and then some ok just so u know!
What the hell do you call that? Seriously 8 minutes to pop a hood, and put out the damn fire. are you kidding me? Damn amatures, it figures. My grandmother could do a better job then that! haha!

9 times out of 10, the first thing that burns in a car fire is the cable for the hood release.
