well you can still have private insurance, there is no govt-run healthcare...but i must say that the rivolis are one hell of a couple...the reason there is a mandate for health insurance is because lets say something happens to you then you should not be a burden on the taxpayers

A public option is really a good idea, it increases competition, which has been disappearing in the last few years. Healthcare shouldn't be a huge profit industry, isn't this about saving lives not making as much cash as possible?

How about the option of saving for a rainy day (instead of spending it all on cell phones, tennis shoes, etc), so that you can self-insure, if that is your choice. Or, you can buy a wide variety of options for health-care. Of course, for those who are irresponsible and want government to pay for everything (with who's money?) the Nancy Pelosi proposal for the public option designed to shut down the insurance companies is a great idea--And Karl Marx had a lot of other good ideas-did they work?

Saving for a rainy day? I'm sorry I don't have the 60,000 dollars that my wife needs for her back surgery. We need a public option or heavy regulation of the healthcare industry. Plain and simple. I pay my taxes so I should have just as much a say as to where they go as you do. I would prefer they are spent on health insurance then go to wasteful spending and knee jerk reactionary policies, like these bailouts and corporate welfare.
