  • holy shit look at that rat at 40

  • I like the R44s. I would hate to see them be replaced by those horrible 160As or 160Bs. The R44s and R46s run comfortably, smoothly and are spacious.

  • @burbank What's horrible is that they are keeping the R42, which has both structural and technical problems. I personally favor the R160A as my favorite bench seaters.

  • True. I thought they got rid of the R42s. Do you like the R32s and R44s R46s and R68s?

  • @burbank Sorry for the late reply, but I like all the bucket seaters especially the R68As (now that the R44s are retired). As for the R32s, I have some problems with them that I'm sure you wouldn't want to hear.

  • i love the R44s.they are the fastest train car

  • 87.75 mph is still the record! I love the R44s for their comfort and acceleration!

  • That record will never be beaten. However it's unknown how fast R10s were. Even though R10 and R44s are the fastest subway cars ever made.

  • Reminds me of my days in high school when I'd cut class and go riding on that

59th to 125street express run on the A or the D.

  • That center platform is a mess!

  • R44's sure give some smooth, smooth rides. Nice video

  • @NewYorkEmperor555 unfortunately, they have too many flaws to make them good. the A needs R68/68As. they have the smoothest ride quality in the system.

  • @thesubwaynut No, the A needs the next generation of NTTs. I'd rather have bucket seats on my rides from Midtown to CI for the next 20 years!

  • @jesuschristsmysavior i want the Q to become exclusively R160s (which will most likely happen once it replaces the W in astoria) and the A or G to take the few R68/68As on it.

  • @thesubwaynut As the N becomes a local, the W's R160Bs would most likely go to the N. The G is still in question as to whether its move to CI (if it moves) would require another fleet or not. But what I'm seeing here actually is that if the V's fleet moves to 207th/Pitkin and the M only layups at Jamaica, then there will be more than enough room for the G to remain at Jamaica despite not servicing QB.

  • @thesubwaynut Also, the current slate is to unify the A's fleet with R46s, though there had been thoughts of making the C full length should QB give up enough R46. But that leaves more questions as to what will happen to some remaining SMEEs. If you heard about the recent SMS plans on the R32 and R42, it would be worth it on the R32 but not the R42 (rusting internally and externally as well as bad performance).

  • @jesuschristsmysavior if all R44s are going, there probably will not be enough R46s to run even one set on the C, so it will continue to use the R32s for years to come, even if it becomes the only line in the system to do so. i agree that R42s suck and need to retire now. hopefully, the last four-car R160As will retire them instead of sending them elsewhere because pitkin, jamaica, and 207th street all hate them.

  • @thesubwaynut The last R160As aren't retiring anything as the M will remain entirely R160A for the new run, which means that the ENY 5 sets may not be going anywhere. It was speculated that R42s were kept instead of the best of the R44s for compatibility reasons, though they have both structural and technical problems.

  • @jesuschristsmysavior ENY may not be able to take in anymore R160As if it keeps its 50 R42s, but we will have to wait and see.

  • @thesubwaynut I agree.

  • yeah and the R32s are retiring this year

  • not bad... it seems the R44's still have some life in them.

  • Even if they are going to last until 2015, they really need a SMS like the R46s on the F train.
