  • @ticonskiracer781 thanks!

  • Did you degree the cam after installing?

  • do you like that throttle body over the bbk or is the extra 200 not worth it

  • I would just buy new ones. I just bought some and there the adjustable comp cam gears and are deff worth the money. 12degrees retard or advanced is what the adjustable to.

  • @Kylesa89 thanks! I started to get confused when my brother tried to explain installing a cam. I'm trying to get more into cars and am trying to sell my truck to get a 88 lx hatchback

  • To answer ScooterTuck11, 2v is just an abreviation meaning ( two valve ) you can have 3V, 4V, ect. Cams can be placed in the middle of a block, or like these 4.6 Mustang blocks are set up, on top of the heads ( ohv )

  • Did you have a tune on your care after you added your cams?

  • Oh and btw I'm not a car person at all but I always thought the cams in a car were in the middle of the block..or are cords just different?

  • @ScooterTuck11 2v means there are 2 valves per cylinder. 1 exhaust and 1 intake. 4v is 4 valves. 2 exhaust and 2 intake. a single overhead cam (sohc) has 1 cam on the top of each of the heads. a dohc has two. A motor with a cam in the middle is a pushrod motor. This is where the cam pushes on rods, this then lifts the rocker arms, operating the valves. in a sohc, and dohc motor, the cams themselves operate the valves.

  • Dumb question but what does 2v mean?

  • nice vid bout how did it take to finish the whole project? thinking about doing the same?

  • so is this a 4.6l ..or what

  • @MrYoungmoney2140 yes it is

  • nice man i cant wait to get my v2 cams in this december! thanks alot

  • when you put new aftermarket cams in..do you have to have anything done with the computer? like will it set off a check engine light? im just curious because i am in the process of rebuilding my engine in my 99 GT and i want cams but im not sure what the computer is gona do..

  • assembly lube is a better choice lubricates till oil pressure is made

  • How long did this take you

  • Has anyone done the pi swap on the 96-98 gt? I think I'm going to do that and cams at the same time when I get my Mustang..oh the plans. That is, if I get the 4.6..

  • @imjustpassinthru - I litterally just got mine outta the shop, the timing chain had worn thru BOTH guides and was making a ticking noise from the passanger side as well, someone had suggested a bad lifter. i bought a timing set on Ebay for 200.00 and paid 650.00 for labor due to being deployed i was unable to do it myself.

  • I've got a 4.6 liter with a "ticking" sound coming from the passenger side that sounds like something in the valve train -- like loose valve lash on a motor with adjustable rocker arms. Is there anything I can tell by removing the cam covers and checking? A Ford dealer guy suggested a bad came lobe. Is there enough room to get a micrometer on the cam lobes? What else could I check? Thanks.

  • Awesome video! Now I have a good idea about swapping these things out. Thanks!

  • Did you lose low end power with the new cams?

  • hey id like to know the name of your valve compressor and were you got the air hook up into the spark plug cuz id like to min but i dont wan to take my head off and use a conventional spring compressor

  • @quad2211 God conventional spring compressors are a PITA... We use them in my ASE class...

  • do you degree the cams?

  • Was it just me, or was it hard to hear the exhaust at all on either version ? I couldn't hear shit. Good documentation though.

  • god i really dont want to do this on my cobra :[ i have dohc

  • yo your old injectors look humongous. lol i had to compare them to the coffee cup to tell there real size hahaha

  • Nice video ! Plan to do the same soon.

  • awesome vid

  • hope you put new lifters in it cause it didnt show yall doing it

  • Great video!

  • good job man.

    what is this music?

  • @al3id

The music is Clubbed to Death by Rob Dougan

  • nice looking 4.6L, how long did this take you guys?

  • you know that there's enough slop in the timing setup to allow for a few degrees difference when timing by marks on the chain/gears. i retimed my fr500 cams that i had a shop professionally install, and they were off from bank to bank. shm said that cams timed incorrectly can lose up to 30 crank hp. just throwing it out there. message me if you need the steps on how to degree using the centerline method.

  • dude i like this vid i was thinkin of doig cams in the winter time n this vid help alot now as far as timing how do you time it or just lining it up with the marks is all it takes?

  • Wow.. I just came across this by accident.. this is my video and my car. And I briefly read through the comments, as far as the sound difference not being that big it's just the camera trust me. The video camera has never done my car justice but it's a huge difference in person.

Also.. the dyno number went from 270 rwhp to 296 rwhp tuned.

  • do you need to adjust the valve lash on these types of valve train?

  • how many miles did you have on it when you did this and what kind of oil do you use? looks like a very clean engine. i plan on putting some cams in my expedition too, i have the same motor.

  • clean

  • please name of the song ??????

  • Very emotional music, but what if a rock goes through the radiator in a very hot climate?

  • @seapeddler Ummm then I guess you would have one leaky radiator.

  • @mustanger99gt I never thought of that.

  • Does anyone know how many standard shop hours it usually takes to install cams? with and without springs?

    Thanks

  • i am looking at a mustang and for aftermarket it says springs. what does taht mean?? thanks

  • It just means suspension lowering springs. Probably just aftermarket springs so the car sits lower. The springs that I am refering to are valve springs which are small springs in the engine.

  • If they are lowering springs the car will sit lower and also handle better.

  • I am thinking about putting cams on my 04 GT and I think your video gave me a good idea of what I am getting myself into. In terms of getting the timing right did you just line up the marks on the timing chains again or did you have to redo where they were aligned?

  • nice video, i thought the change in sound would be a little more pronounced though. still great job

  • whats the name of this song??

  • if im not mistaking, i believe it is called clubbed to death by Rob D

  • I bet all that hard work pays off. nice job

  • does anyone know what the average price is to install a cam on a 2vgt, if i already have the parts???

  • what are the numbers before and after?

  • Cams, springs, and a tune are what you need to do it.

  • Good*oopps

  • Great video.

  • There was definately a change in the sound, but u really have to listen for it. I thought it would be a little bit more pronounced than that. Good job on it though. I want to see numbers before i make a decision to do this cause i dont want to spend that much time on a 15hp upgrade. I was also wondering about good cams to use with nitrous on a 2V mustang?

  • Crower Level III's are really for for mid-top end power for blown and nitrous applications which i have both in the 283ci 2v KB GT lots of other goodies too vids coming soon..

  • So before you get a blower of some sort you recommend setting the car to handle the horsepower like new cams and other apps???

  • yes, but you just need bolt in cam gears

  • @mustanger99gt im going to be doing a cam install on an 03 4.6L explorer, why are aftermarket cam gears needed? Is that just for the VT cams?

  • @exile907 It is needed because the factory cam gears are pressed on and cannot be removed, therefore you need bolt on versions which can be found on different years but they are pretty cheap to buy new though.

  • @mustanger99gt that makes perfect sense, and yes i have noticed they are very easy to find from several makers. Thanks for the reply!

  • @exile907 Take a grammar lesson, you dumb yank.

  • @JohnKreeseCobraKai HAHAHAHAH wow, take a stalking lesson you freak. and get a life, seriously, when someone blocks you.. you dont follow them. HAHAHAHA WOW.

  • @exile907 It's ironic you're on Youtube telling me to get a life. Typical dumb yank.

  • @JohnKreeseCobraKai Notice how you respond mear hours after i do? and how i take a whole day? its cus i have a life. Now quit bothering me. Or ill report you to youtube k?

  • @exile907 Please don't report me. I don't want to be arrested by the Youtube cops. Dumb nigger.

  • Clean install. I did a swap in around 9 hours including beer/pizza time; btw what's the song?

  • the song is clubbed to death, can't remember the artist.

  • 9 hrs thats it?? are you a mechanic?

  • about how long did or would this take?

  • Guys, just to let you know, this is not my car, just a video I found and thought it to be very helpful.

As for the cams, they will work with the stock pistons fine, no PTV issues.

  • great vid very helpful did those cams work with the stock pistons??

  • great vid, i have the exact same stang same wheels and everything lol, and have just about all the bolt ons and was thinking about doing a cam and either having the stock heads ported or just getting new ones....either way im sure this job would take me a few months untill the car was drivable again but w.e, great vid and good, eat some chevys for me

  • Very nice! Im holding off on cams right now until I can do the heads in one job, but great work man. Good project for a Father & Son to tackle. Not a better way to spend quality time together turning wrenches on a Mustang.

  • awesome video...awesome work bro...wish u the best luck in the world with this project because its so awesome!!!!

  • Great vid. I just installed Comp Stage 2 cams in my 2000gt. I know your pain. I did it with my brother-in-law in his garage. We used the tool to change the valvesprings with the cams in the car, and its a real pain. Yours looks better. Anyway, post some vids with the cams in the car with a better sound quality, and if you can, some dyno #s. Don't give up on the 2v!

  • Thanks for showing this vid, really helps out. How much psi through the line to hold valves in place, thanks.

  • Whatever psi your tank is holding will be enough to hold it in place.
