Did someone here ask why she represented Switzerland? I'd heard that people from Switzerland simply approached her and asked if she'd represent their country. I don't know anything more than that. I guess you don't have to be a citizen.

That's not possible. She was asked by the composer. And that happened in the past. Luxembourg's five winners were from other countries as well.

Eurovision rules states that as long as the songwriter is a citizen of the participating country, then it is ok to have an "imported" song interpreter (singer/s)

ya, not all the countries participating in eurovision are in europe, but they all have kind of ties with europe? or seem to anyway...like, Israel also participated, and its geographically closer...and Austrailia's part of the commonwealth (isnt it?). so i guess thats why...

it's a shame north america has created this entertainment empire of their own. i think it'd be great if they joined in eurovision but no one over here has even heard of it :(
