  • Jo Callis, is a Rock God!!!

  • I don't give a fuck if you slate them, this is class

  • this woman is horrific

  • Now the b52s make sense

  • fabby dabby doo, even the "likes" bar looks like a big joint of grass, smoking it up a treat and delivering some tasty goodness to the masses

  • Revolver was the point when your average street herbert and punk philosophy started to find common ground. Probably 1978 was an interesting point sociologically because the initial elitism of early punk was transforming and being absorbed into the mainstream and for me, that's the point when society started changing in terms of fashion, attitude and even spirit. When the masses start evolving, you know something revolutionary is going on.

  • reminds me of my highschool days lol!

  • luv this.

  • Jo Callis of the Human League playing the bass.

  • @asd36f he played guitar in the rezillos ,not bass

  • Why do I always fall in love with girls like her!!!!????

  • @MyKarlberg Fay was hot stuff

  • make you all jealous now cos im a fucking god ...ok . 1979 this sexy lead singer gave me a neck massage when i was only 15.. i was working part time at a hotel and it was sexy as fuck ... good memeories .. she said i looked stressed .. brilliant days.

  • @MrConundrummer THOSE EYES of Fay's and the mini skirts gave me plenty to think about in bed at night before sleep when I was 15 years old !

  • i loved this show!! does anyone remember the night that they played My Way

  • I remember watching this when it was first broadcast. Love love love the Rezillos.

  • nice old school slam dancing

  • 3 times and thats not enough, amazing, inventive and full of viitality.

  • V good. ta.

  • Is that Peter Cook on the screen, right at the beginning of the clip?

  • @Poopingbotham

Yes. Apart from the actual fact that some great bands played live to an audience, the show's format proved to be a television disaster. Peter Cook broadcast introductions and tried to make jokes via a big screen. He just didn't pull it off; some of it was positively embarrassing. The ratings were terrible, and the show soon got axed. Leaving a legacy of some clips great for YouTube !

  • @roddy76to86 The show was fuckin' SUPERB but many didn't watch as it was on late Saturday night before many got back from the pub and pre-video recorder days for most people. I, aged 15 at the time loved the show in the summer of '78 as many others who watched did too

  • @TheKenfig

There was great music so it was good for that, especially for us YouTubers now. What I've read is the format was considered terrible by every critic in the land (yes I know, what do they matter, but they matter to TV companies) and then with poor ratings it was axed. I'm 48 as well, but don't recall watching it, so it can't have been shown in Scotland. We probably got the ITV version of the "White Heather Club" ! That was AWFUL. Do a search for it, an embarrassment to Scotland !

  • @roddy76to86 Yes I will and will get back to you. The thing is though that REVOLVER was only on for 30 minutes per show with one commercial break but it packed in about five great performances during the half hour and also included a 'retro spot' which played a number, usually from the 60s, like Top Of The Pops ; I remember one time it was Massachusetts by the Bee Gees, in black and white of course. Cook was his usual witty self so I thought it a great little show

  • @TheKenfig

It was Peter Cook being on a big screen as if he was the god of the show that bugged a lot of the critics, and many viewers as well. But whatever the reason, the show was a viewer ratings flop, and so they didn't do another series. ITV had to rely on advertising revenue after all, so a Saturday evening flop just wasn't feasible. It's main legacy is good quality footage of the bands at the time that nobody else was recording, until the OGWT "studio revolt" booted out all the hippies.

  • @roddy76to86 But lots of critics are morons ; he wasn't there thinking he was 'God of the show' but he WAS a big comedy name and his cynical comments were designed deliberately by the producers as a kind of copy of his 'Bedazzled' movie character persona ; he would be the compare of a run down nightclub who hated the punk acts whilst introducing them.He didn't do much more than introduce each act with a usually witty put down or something so maybe they criticised that too much. Ratings WERE poor

  • @TheKenfig

I would go further and say most critics are morons. But they seem to be taken seriously for some reason. But you're last 3 words are the bottom line.

  • I like the look she throws the bassist when he cocks up(1.11)....woooops!

  • I'm pretty sure everyone in there is as high as Heaven, including The Rezillos.Anyways, awesome song :).I love how she's struggling to pronounce so that people can understand her...Guessing she's Scottish xD.

  • @Hafstadt

    No Shit Sherlock!!

Read your history. This song is written by the one & only Jo Callis who studied in Edinburgh!!

  • @Hafstadt

I really don't think Faye Fife gave a f*ck whether anybody understood her or not ! Whatever, a great voice.

  • they are so stylish

  • brilliant!!

  • Loved 1978, loved Revolver, loved the Rezillos & wanted Fay Fife so much ; still do !!

  • @LTandDS punk???????

  • @asdfghjklkjhgfdsa555 They're absolutely punk. There are many different punk sounds.

  • Wasn't revolver only shown in the midlands? Peter Cooke used to present it.

  • @MsLizaMB

    No,

    Shown elsewhere too MsLiza

  • @MsLizaMB Used to get Revolver up in Yorkshire

  • so is this lip synced or what? it sounds live, but the part at 24 seconds is obviously pretty suspect.

  • It looks fun

  • jo callis goes from playing a sg to a les paul & then back to a sg.

  • When music was exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was there pop-pickers!

  • Great programme fondly remembered!

  • My girlfriend was really jealous 'cos I couldn't hide the fact I really fancied Faye!

  • IF YOUR TOES AINT TAPPING,YOU ARE TECHNICALLY DEAD

  • Wow!! Everybody is pogoing to this great song and thats what I call old school punk/alternative before slam dancing came into the picture. That Fay Fife sure knows how to shake it!!!

  • The stock market for your hi-fi...

  • @Dzsingisz01 I suppose you have the same opinion about The Ramones? :-)

  • @Dzsingisz01: You have no idea about what are you talking about. They were totally new wave. You cant easily find information about then on the web. But it suggest that you can read. You said "them were shit", Perhaps reasons, sources about that?-

  • mi banda favorita desde que tengo uso de razon jajaja que buena banda eran estoa cabrones

  • I dipped her daughter

  • God I absolutely love this punk tune! Love it!

  • I wish there had been more Revolver, it was way ahead of it's time.

    .

    Thank you for this xx

  • Great record!!

Have you noticed the cameraman and stage manager (10 secs into the video) bouncing, ever so slightly, to the music?

  • fuck me i wanna be 17 again great days

  • You LUCKY...LUCKY...BASTARDS ! (no offence intended.) An essential ensemble for the time!

  • At 1.15 the bass-player makes a mistake and the singer gives him a dirty look!

  • Slam dancing in slacks. Hurray for the 70s!

  • You can't compare the Rezillos to the B-52s, Wiganmaher, ya numpty. Totally different bands, very different sound.

  • actually sweetie you can indeed compare the fab rezillos with the B-52s -boyz in bikinis/girls on surfboards/ rock lobster! peace and loveand a happy new year to you xxx

  • Great vitality and talent

  • @jnmklo9 I see vitality, but where's talent?

  • I love Youtube too!

  • Pop art and pastiche sums up the Rezillos. They were very much a British counterpart to the B52s, and very good at their trade they were too!

  • youtube is good for all the old music you remember growing up as a kid :-)

  • fantastic.... a great performance...

saw them at thier 2nd last gig at the edinburgh odeon in 78

  • WHoah! But you're not TOO SURE are you, that you were only being "tongue in cheek" - if you've taken the snide comment down! Appears that you're the "touchy" one sweetie.

So glad you appreciate good tunes. I think her outfit is as individually cool now as ever. BTW the era with the genre termed "dance" was at least a decade later anyway. So please stop being mad and humourless. No disrespect intended.

  • I could hear someone like Daft Punk OR lCD Soundsystem covering this now in 2009!

  • top of the pops doesnt run anymore

  • Brilliant.

  • very 1978 - young men in flares and checked knitwear bouncing up and down.

I watched this on itv and wasn't impressed by Peter Cook - more of a TOTP fan in my youth.

'it's got a lively beat and the kids love it sir'

    -

'as long as there's no spitting'

  • A bunch of fuckin' nutters but really good nutters. Back in 78 i used to play this on my local pub jukebox and no one but me liked it as it was only me that liked punk.

  • fucking fantastic sexy scottish bitch

  • fuckin cool,Fantastic BAND

  • so cool

  • Live?

  • I know what you mean: it's not "Mission Accomplished...But The Beat Goes On" is it?

  • Pure Glam/Punk/RnB/ Garage..POP!!!!, one of those bands who werent punk but had punk attitude, the Rezillos were fun with a capitol F, and lets not forget guitarist Jo Callis was responsible for some of the Human League's biggest hits

  • Oh my God, I'd forgotten Revolver. ITV's attempt to be cool in 1978. I'm still laughing. Peter Cook looking like Johnny Rotten's Dad on a screen above the stage. Really toe curling. But the Rezillo's were great. Kind of silly. But good pop.

  • Anybody know where I can see "(My Baby Does) Good Sculptures" ?????

  • It's here on the tube,

    I've watched it.

    Can't do links (old punk).

  • one of the few times the brits copied the yanks but failed not quite the B52s eh space cadets ?

  • yeah but this was years before that... so who's copying...

  • failed? this video doesn't do the rezillos justice, the vocals were terrible in this recording. Give them another chance, watch destination venus or something.

  • my old nanna thought they were very good!! ...as did I!!

  • Look up "aspect ratio"!

  • Funny thing is, if these guys could be ported to the year 2008 (and you make her hair-do a bit more spiky), same clothes, etc, they'd probably do quite well!

  • check out the "yeah yeah yeahs"

  • Reminds me of a female Anson Williams (and about as talented).

  • A*W*E*S*O*M*E

    I love Fay Fife.

  • You should have shown Peter Cook's part as that's the best bit.

  • one or to things to say here werealldevo A - Its top of the pops studio what do u expect B- watch quastrophelia it will give you an insight into the era of mods, C - that was the style back then just as bashing ur head all over the place is common now aka so called moshing and lastly who the flying fuck cares how yah dance as long as yah have a good time.

the only redeming thing you have bro is the fact Devo is contained in ur name so i wont be to harsh.

    P.s - THE REZILLOS will 4eva rock. :)

  • what a great great underrated band

  • BRING BACK THE POGO!!! I'm ancient enough to have watched as Pogoing gave way to Slamdancing, which was still cool. But as time went by,and things got stupider,Slamming gave way to Moshing. In the early days,if you fell down in the pit,a dozen people pulled you back up,usually before your butt hit the floor. Later, when folks lost their footing, they'd get the hell stomped out of them by brainless thugs, who thought this kind of shit was funny. At Woodstock 94,idiots moshed to Van Morrison...

  • i agree. i just look at this & i'm like...you're watching the rezillos...stop pretending to have fun & actually have fun...of course a tv program like this they were probably bussed in by the producers & were told to pretend like they like the band.

  • actually I've been in plenty of pits nowadays

and when i fall people actually pick me up

not just me but others as well.

  • lol. look at all those dick head limeys pogoing.

  • At least we tried to move you stupid shithead,i bet you listen to Marroon 5!!

  • i'd mosh every last one of those twats.

  • What's wrong? Jealous that we make much better music than pathetic thrash metal Yankee crap.

  • I wasn't talking about the music. I like the Rezillos, a lot; and the Jam & gen x & slaughter and the dogs & a lot of other british bands. I was making fun of the dancing.

  • you like 50Cent and muppet Snoop Dogshit!!!

  • Ah! The pogo! How I loved it!

  • fond memories seeing this lot in Edinburgh and Aberdeen in the 70's 10outta10

  • best song from the 70`s

  • shitt cant understand what they are saying

  • The queen of day-glo punk at her very best and still going strong today! Go for it hipsters!!!
