My thoughts??? So much politicin'. This is great music done well. Put your damn prejudices aside and speak as a musician. I am probably no longer welcome on the campus, but for God's sake, quit doing what you are angry at them for doing...
This is where I get confused. According to Bob Jones Jr. "The Catholic Church is a satanic counterfeit, an ecclesiastic tyranny over the souls of men....It is the old harlot of the book of the Revelation—'the Mother of Harlots.' So why are they singing Baroque Catholic hymns written to combat Protestantism and why do they have a giant collection of Early Modern Catholic art? Sounds a little schizophrenic to me.
I just love it how the so-called American "Christians" (like Bob Jones Jr)think the largest Christian denomination isn't really Christian. Your knowledge of Ecclesiastical history is sadly lacking. In the 18th century (that's when Mozart lived!) Catholicism used baroque music and theatrical performance of the Mass (along with other elaborate devotions loathed by Protestants as "idolatry" and "superstition") to contrast itself with otherwise austere Protestantism, especially Calvinism.
i wasnt referring to the Eccliesiastical history. i was referring to the roman empire in which Catholicism originated. the beginning Catholicism were of the same beliefs of recent-day Christianity. what has changed over the many centuries is the background and basis to Catholicism. Catholicism now is like a chameleon. catholic churches change from location to location. a church in ohio is different than a church in virginia. Christians are the same everywhere and hold to their beliefs. Catholics
differ and vary. BJU was not using music of the Catholic church or of Mass of now a day. If it was the same of Catholicism then it would be the same of the early Catholicism in which it was the same of today's Christians.
@mizmuzition I, personally, guarantee you that the Roman Catholic Apostolic Church is as immutable, being the one Body of Christ, irrespective of us mere fallible creatures, as Christ. Christ Jesus is the one triune Biblical God and is undivided and unchangeable. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He is the Creator and the Redeemer. He is life everlasting. All else is vain, futile, perishable, false, of no use.
Laudate Dominum is PSALM 117 set to Music. I think we need to stop finger pointing and stick together, the next few years are not going to be good ones for Chritians regardless of sect around the world.

This can't be a faculty member conducting! It's much too fast and sing-songy.
What beautiful female voices!
The nitwits who are so critical of the fine arts at BJU should take a class in music appreciation, don't you think?

Early Catholics had the same beliefs as the Christians of today. And I believe this song is from the early period.
