Ill fated it was - it was hijacked once to China. There was a problem with one engine, then the pylon holding another one on the opposite side detached taking another engine. Probably only had one engine in full workng order near the end. One of the crew members was a fellow aviation history buff. He would look things up in the archives in Taiwan for us and bring hard copies in those pre-broadband internet and scanned pdf days. Good guy and sadly missed ...

It is horrible to think about what happened a few days after this video was taken. Very Sad.

CAL used to have horrendous safety record, as the flight crew were recruited straight from ROCAF with little transition training. It has improved somewhat since 2008, as training now focuses on cockpit resource management.

TBh its a very creepy feeling to see this plane now flying and knowing it will kill 5 people some time later. :S
