the european theatre was huge,but the pacific campaign was more brutal in my opinion.Amphibious assaults are tricky,and retreat is impossible on these small islands.'Nowhere to run' would be a strain on the brain.

i really believe the toughest battle in WW2 was in stalingrad how 30000 ill equipt Russians with 30 tanks took on the might of the nazi airforce tanks n 250000 germans n held on to just few meters of stanigrand till they got reiforcments was amazng thank God the americans were in better possision cause japanese prisons are Not holiday camps no matter how bad amercans can be they are ANGELS next to the japanese

Stalingrad.I would've hated to be a soldier in either army there.The terrible cold and starvation,cobined with endless street fighting would take everything you had.Russia is fortunate to have bitter winters,it's saved them many times.I'm not saying they wouldn't have won without it,but it sure helped stem the tide.

Have you seen the leningrad 'battlefield' doc?Those poor kids in it were shellshocked.I've never seen such misery.Finland had mercy and didn't close the ring so food got in.

still are tough????? marines wont go into a house to fight even if there was a guy with one arms with a pistol. all they do is try to look tough, and when they run into problem. they run crying to air support for help. so they send in a 10,000$ bomb to kill one guy. Wow some army we got.
