  • More water carrying for Obama. If Bush did this the Young turks would slam him like no other. The Young Turks are nothing but apologists for Democrats. Obama;s war is illegal, unconstitutional, and is Americans killing Muslims again. HURRR it's "Nato Operation" and we're working with a "coalition".

No Shit. Liberals simply trot out some platitiudes about internationalism and all of a sudden illegal war are A-OK

  • Cenk Uygur, you posted this video on Mar 24, 2011. By then the ENTIRE WORLD knew already that Gaddafy never lifted a plane on Tripoli nor on Misurata. Everyone knew that only 150 civilians died (and NOT thousands). This was reported and confirmed by Amnesty International and Human Right Watch.

Either you're an ignorant fool or you're paid by the Obama administration to spread lies and misinformation.

Either way, you are a disgrace to journalism.

  • Cenk Uygur, I kind of liked you in the past, but now your stance with the war in Libya revealed what a disgusting piece of ignorant shit you are. By supporting the real criminals (Obama, Clinton, Sarkozy and Cameron), you're a disgrace to journalism. You are a disgusting living being. You make me throw up.

  • NATO (not the United States) is technically enforcing a no-fly zone. If that's a declaration of war, then the rest of Europe is at war as well. And the ultimatum is clear: stop massacring civilians. Read UNSC resolution 1973 if that's not clear.

  • @Magicwillnz NATO's mission is for the defense of the member nations. NATO has no business in Libya. Osama Hussien Obama is wrong on this one. He is bombing innocent civilians. Osama Obama lied and people died! He is a war criminal. He also violated international law with the raid in Pakistan. He killed an innocent woman civilian in that house. Where is the outrage from the left and from the democraps? Can you imagine if Bush bombed Libya killing and authorizing a raid in a sovereign nation?

  • Cenk you are a fake ProgressaCUNT that talks out of both sides of you mouth

  • @truthout911 Osama Hussien Obama is bombing Libya killing innocent civilians. Osama Obama lied and people died! Osama Obama did not get congressional approval. Where is the socialist democrap outrage? Where is the outrage with Osama Obama and $5 per gallon of gasoline? where is the outrage of 2 yrs of 9% unemployment? Transparency? legistlation put online for all to read? focusing on the economy like a laser beam? civility? no lobbiests in his administration? so phony! he is in way over his head

  • Bush did not have the backing that Obama does for this mission to imply that Libya is the same as Iraq is upsurd. Doesn't matter what the details are there were no lies involved this is a clean cut mission that international community will shoulder as well this is about human rights plain and simple

  • @Intelligentparadigm The U.S. has no business along with NATO bombing a sovereign nation that did not bomb us. NATO was not set up for bombing tyrrants. NATO was not attacked. Osama Obama did NOT get congressional approval. No wonder ragheads hate the U.S.. Vote Ron Paul and bring our troops home.

  • Dumb fuck? Because my opinion is different doesn't make me dumb. Judging by your lack of civility you must be a republican. I commend wills bannana and a few others for theirs. Mature individuals can see all sides of the debate and discuss facts in order to come up with the best solutions to world issues. Name calling and dogmatic thinking is counter productive. Please step aside the adults are talking world events

  • Dumb fuck? Because my opinion is different doesn't make me dumb. Judging by your lack of civility you must be a republican

  • Dumb fuck? Because my opinion is different doesn't make me dumb. Judging by your lack of civility you must be a republican

  • cia wil helping the rebels in libya, the rebels in libya is El Quaida organization the rebels and gaddafi said this many times, but america will helping el quaida not gaddafi

  • So troops will be counter-productive but bombs will not? The Turk is missing a trick here.

  • This is not in any way a war. It's a UN mission and the US is the bitch.

  • Come on Obama, lets get the hell out of Libya while we can.. WE ARE NOT THE PEACE KEEPERS OF THE WORLD.. Do not supply the rebels with weapons...You have US citizens back home who are still trying to rebuild from Huricane Katrina.. Now your involved in 3 wars at the same time.....

  • @CENK WHY WOULD THE US SUPPORT REBELS???

WHY WOULD THE US GIVE REBELS A FIGHTING CHANCE.

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU REALIZE THEY ARE REBELS. THE MESSAGE US IS SENDING IS THAT REBELS ARE ACCEPTABLE IN THE WORLD.

ON THAT ONE I'm NOT WITH YOU CENK

  • I don't know if this happened for anyone else, but for me, the ad to the right of this video was for Tea Party Patriots. I think that's hilarious.

  • We are dropping bombs. If this is not an act of War then we have never been in a war!

  • I am frustrated with Obama

  • @blakaxe and Obama is frustrated with you

  • I heard Obama actually kicked a dog! and slapped a Cat!

    :)

    :P

  • thank you Cenk, you got it perfect, finally.

  • @michealati2 Let me clear something up. I only use profanity of those deserving which are tools such as yourself. I would bet my education level and professional success probably far exceeds yours. Although it is not uncommon to see a liberal idiot such as yourself think they are sooo much better than everyone else. Elitism and Liberalism is a disease or the mind. You don't deserve more than profanity because you are too stupid to understand facts.

  • @michealati2 Well dumbass, congrats on making yourself look idiotic. Death Korps is a fictitious unit in a Science Fiction Book and Game Series.

So thank you for proving what a retarded judgmental idiot you are.

  • @michealati2 Well since you both are illiterate ingrates I don't think you are able to educate anyone on anything

  • @michealati2 I think your comment shows yours. What exactly does my screen name mean smart guy?

I love ignorant assholes like you that think they know me because of an internet name.

  • They are currently negotiating with NATO to take over the mission. He has clearly stated the role of the states and people should commend him for standing with the libyans not occupying them.

  • @Intelligentparadigm so, have you heard that us and egyptain special forces are in libya training rebels, its being reported by most news outlets as of today...you sir, are a brainwashed dumbfuck.

  • After reading the comments Obama is not getting you into a new war he is providing the rebels with temporary assistance to give them a fighting chance. As for cost this can be repaid with the libyan assets that have been frozen all over the world. He has stated that this is not an invasion and therefore ground troops will not be used. He was a lawyer and he has handled this matter according to the law. @ sarah palin looks like his ivy league education has it's benefits.

  • @Intelligentparadigm I find it weird that you don't consider bombing a country an act of war. 2007 Obama would be very disappointed in 2011 Obama.

  • @Intelligentparadigm

Launching a military operation in which hundreds of U.s missiles are fired onto foreign soil, in order to destroy sections of that nation's military? the fact that is an act of war is inarguable.

Also; acting within the law is arguable. The constitution states (I;m paraphrasing here) that the president cannot launch a military action, very much like this one, without the approval of congress, unless there is strong evidence that a threat against the homeland is imminent

  • I agree with Cenk I said the samething

  • How can it possible be better if it's"limited"?If it's "limited"--the conflict goes on indefinitely, causing massive agony to libya and enormous cost to the allies.and what happens if the REBELS are in a position where THEY'RE threatening civilians? The Goals have to be MUCH BETTER DEFINED

  • Obama is the worst president in US history. I thought Bush was a dumbass this guy has him beat 1000 fold

  • @DeathKorps94 Obama isn't even the worst president of the last decade.

  • @ThePsychoReturns Keep dreaming smacktard

  • @DeathKorps94 It's not a dream, dipshit. It's a fact.

  • @ThePsychoReturns No dumbass a fact is not just something you claim is a fact. A fact is something that can be proven so PROVE IT.

I won't hold my breath as we already know you are full of shit

  • @DeathKorps94 So you forgot already how Bush nearly drove the economy into oblivion, and it was Obama that saved it?

  • @ThePsychoReturns Your strawman argument is irrelevant

  • @DeathKorps94 That isn't a strawman. It's another fact.

  • @ThePsychoReturns Education is something you chose to disregard and avoid. This is quite clear from your lack of understanding of the simplest of principles of a debate. PLease learn what a fact is. Please learn what a straw man argument is. Please get a clue before posting.

  • @DeathKorps94 I know what a strawman is. I know what a fact is. You're projecting.

  • @ThePsychoReturns So you claim lol. IF you did you wouldn't be defending your idiotic statements

  • @DeathKorps94 I don't have to defend my statements. I'm refuting yours.

  • @ThePsychoReturns In order to refute it you have to address my comment dummy, See more lessons on basic educational topics you should have learned

  • @DeathKorps94 I guess you have some sort of reading comprehension difficulties, because I did.

  • @ThePsychoReturns Now your response more or less equals "I know you are but what am I" Lol

    You truly are pathetic

  • @DeathKorps94 You're projecting again. I have refuted your statement and you have failed to respond.

  • @ThePsychoReturns You truly are a class A moron. Congrats your stupidity and childishness knows no bounds.

  • @DeathKorps94 There you go again, dipshit. Enjoy your lack of an argument.

  • @ThePsychoReturns Lol I see your mouth is still running with nothing to say. You should see a doctor about that it is pretty embarrassing for ya

  • @DeathKorps94 I don't have to say anything. You still haven't addressed my point. You're projecting again.

  • @DeathKorps94

NO! You're wrong, Obama is using 'smart power,' he even said so himself!! Obama is an intellectual and Bush was stupid, although they are taking very similar action against very similar geopolitical events, Bush lied to us, ah, Obama is hope, change...aaaah..

  • @willsbanana lol your posted just showed your IQ to be about 60.

  • So far, the whole operation has cost every man woman and child in the US a dollar or so. Not alot, no, but I seriously doubt you could have gotten enough people to voluntarily donate that money in exchange for the supposed benefit it gave them.

  • rule #1 never let a nigger run a country

  • Why do you guys try to make it sound bad to criticize Obama. This guys laughing because people are against America getting into a new war? Whats wrong with this guy.

  • By getting involved in Libya, Obama has shown how contradicting and hypocritical conservatives are. The oppose anything Obama does, even if they initially supported the action. Just like the miranda rights issue with terrorists. Obama went along with conservatives, and issued an executive order against miranda rights for terrorist, now he is going to sit back and watch the conservatives contradict themselves.

  • Cenk, Cenk, Cenk. How many election promises did Obama keep? Do you really expect him to keep the ground invasion promise, with 4,000 amphibious US troops on the ready to move in? You're being far too naive.

  • @dm1133 He has kept over 130 promises so far. There's a website called polifact.com

  • @TheRyder89 And how many did he make??? Also, that site doesn't work, I just tried it. So as far as I'm aware the count is still 0, unless you can provide me with some other source.

  • @dm1133 He made 508 promises according to polifact.com. And he's kept 137 of them (27%). 218 are still "in the works" (43%). Moreover he's made 40 compromises(8% of his promises) and 42 promises have been broken(8%)

The website works. Just write "Obama promises" to Google and click the first link and then choose "The Obameter"

  • Obama's War of Opportunity has no congressional permission.

Congress has no loyalty to our Constitution which says they are responsible for the decision to go to war. Congress are MIA.

    Throw the bums OUT

  • Humble foreign policy of Republican and Democratic Presidents.

    /watch?v=F9SOVzMV2bc

  • thank you Cenk

  • Thank goodness there's somebody with some sanity. I was so disappointed that Jon Stewart was attacking Obama for helping NATO to implement the no-fly zone, when preventing the Gaddhafi dictatorship from massacring its own civilians is the only possible ethically serious position. Good for Cenk.

  • Comment removed

  • Considering the highly touted "corruption" of Gaddafi has been enabled by US and International corporations since BUSH normalized relations, don't expect any change for the better there. In fact, expect it to get worse when and if the newbies arrive.

    FRESH MEAT!

    Obama was a rolling stone

Where ever he laid his hat was his home

    and when he lied

All he left us was alone

  • does Cenk just agree with every word Obama says?, i remember Cenk clearly stating that he wants all the troops to come home and a war in Iran will ridiculous. Now when it is actually happening with Libya though Cenk supports it just because Obama supports it, Weak man weak.

  • @greenhose1 This is about consistency. If you were against Bush's actions in Iraq, (a country, although headed by a dictatorship, never attacked us) wouldn't you be against Obama's actions regarding Libya (a country, although headed by a dictatorship, never attacked us)? If you supported the war in Iraq, that's fine, but Cenk is being inconsistent.

  • @Motionedout

The difference between Iraq and Libya is that Iraq is not approved by the UN and Libya is approved the UN.

  • @Balencian UN support sounds suspect (not that it isn't true, it just sounds suspicious with all the dictatorships around the world the UN could approve of stopping), and even if it weren't, it still doesn't make it the most sensible thing a country already at war with two other countries could do...just saying, that's all.

  • @Motionedout

I don't deny there might be some hidden agenda (oil choke*). Imo, the UK and France are more into starting this war than Americans . I know we are already at war (esp 1 that is unprevoked) but the Libyans had cried for help, and UN sanctioned something, we had to do something. Moreover, U.S. is not the only major participant in this war unlike Iraq. Let's not follow the footstep of the League of Nations. But ya, everyone have different opinions.

  • @Motionedout

But just to clarify, I only support the no fly zone for short term, i myself support Cenk's argument, under no circumstances we should be sending ground forces in, we simply don't have that much money.

  • @Motionedout

Sorry about not finishing the last comment. "And obviously if we sent ground troops in, Gadaffi will go guerrilla on us, and for someone who used human shields on NATO air strikes, who know what will this man do? A bloodbath will ensured for sure when we step in."

  • @Balencian

Another difference: The Libya attack was not approved by Congress.

Another difference: The coalition of the willing supported action against Iraq

A further note: Hussein outright rejected multiple requests by the U.N

My intellectual 2 cents: Both are ruthless dictators who should not be in power.

  • @willsbanana Libya was approved by the senate.. 100-0..

there was noo coalition in Iraq it was like congo and el salvador.. that didnt help squat..

  • @mashack12 49 countries, including Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, Australia and the Czech Republic...

Try to use some independent thought, rather than repeating Cenk's talking points. Also, what is your argument, the fact that other nations are involved or that other nations agree that it is acceptable?! Because more nations were involved in removing Saddam then this war, you realise..

  • @willsbanana those countries refused to help in Iraq.. they were in the coalition for afghanistan which i was for.. if you knew the facts you wouldnt e spouting complete nonsense.. do you remember bush&co. denouncing the UN? also Saddam was no threat to the US and GWB knew that he had to lie to get ppl on board.. And I am 1 who will never spew cenks talking points.. I hate this guy with a passion.. All he does is lie and twist facts to make it go his way..

  • @mashack12 Australia, United Kingdom and Poland all were involved in the invasion and eventual occupation, the rest were all in agreement that the toppling of Hussein was necessary.

Gaddafi is also no threat to the U.S, bud..

  • @willsbanana Not the UN, the Iraq war was illegal under international law regardless of how many countries supported it, the Libya war was legal because Obama got a UN Resolution authorizing it, now do you support the rule of law or do you beleive might makes right?

  • @Motionedout Yes!! I love this comment, the people commenting here aren't focusing on the real revealing aspect of this whole debate, the shear hypocrisy of people on the left (and the right). How can the crowd who was saying Bush was evil for his actions against Hussein and Obama justified for his actions currently..?! It is ludicrous. Also to a lesser extent, people on the right screaming murder over the attack ob Libya, if they were supportive of the Iraq invasion...

  • @MrDustock: Your mistake is assuming the other team would actually govern better "lol". This is a scenario where one team is playing lousy but they're still much better than the other team!

  • Canada is in charge of the mission now.

  • Government in Benghazi needs military and economical support.

  • @michealati2

Oh, and may I add, my country is one of the few countries in the world capable of only using renewable energy for electricity all because of hydroelectricity, our energy bills fluctuate a lot tho, especially in regions where there isn't established much else energy sources. That's the problem with such renewable energy, it's unpredictable. We need nuclear for a stable supply, it is actually being debated right now about building our first nuclear plants in these regions, if ever...

  • @michealati2 As a short term solution bio fuel works great, especially because it can replace gas for cars and many other vehicles already built. Solar is a no go atm, the technology is too weak. Windmills are kinda dull, but we have some sea windmills in testing stage right now that could turn windmills into a more viable option. Hydroelectricity is a very important renewable energy source, covering 88% of all renewable energy produced in the world, but no one talks about that.

  • Well, look at that, Obama finally does something others don't like. Do you see some kind of light here?

  • @michealati2

I don't think you have the full picture. There is a limit to how much food we can produce. There is limited fertile land, and our technology limits us as to how much we can produce of that land. If I recall right, with current technology and limitations we are only capable of sustaining a world population of 10 billion, we are on the edge of overpopulation, and some countries even are there already because of lack of technology. Bio fuel is cool, but it wont be long lasting.

  • How can you talk Cenk with that GE dick in your mouth?

  • @michealati2

Bio energy is interesting, but we shouldn't use food sources (includes growing anything on fertile land for bio fuel), only waste produced by society, seriously are we gonna turn crazy amounts of potential food into alcohol while millions of people in the world are starving? There are better options, nuclear plants is the best, I blame environmentalists for the oil crisis we are about to face, without them the world would be fueled by mostly nuclear energy already!

  • @michealati2

It can, you already have over a 100 nuclear plants, build more. I don't think USA have enough hydroelectric possibilities to supply the whole nation, but a lot could be covered in that area as well. Or wait for some revolutionary technology, which might be coming in about 20 years, hybrid nuclear/fusion plants, which can extract 80 times more energy from uranium than ordinary nuclear plants + destroy any radioactive waste.

  • @RukiaRod

If we are gonna have any chance of getting off oil before it's empty we have to either build a huge amount of nuclear plants or build hydroelectric power plants in every river we can get our hands on but environmentalists would riot if we did that. Then there is windmills, but we would have to build an army of those to supply the world population, not a good option. All other renewable energy sources are bullshit, costs a fuckload to build and yields nothing back.

  • @DidYouJustMakeThatUp

Cruise missile wise probably close to 0. Over 400 personnel, 6 combat fighters, plus a few more surveillance. We pay for this too proportionately. Oh, so because I'm not from the US I shouldn't have an opinion with it? That's a pretty weird statement in reply considering you were complaining about costs and I was just making you aware of some massive other costs of war going on which we both don't want.

  • HAIL OBAMA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • man... Cenk is getting so dumb and retarded... I know he's interventionist since he said so in older vids but that doesn't mean you can just ignore the budget. My priority is to get the budget straight so our dollar currency buying power stays strong. I personally am non interventionist but if we paid all our debts and still had money to get involve with Libya or w/e I don't think I would really care much.

but look at our current debts. Pay the debt first then we can worry about others.

  • Fuck Obama

  • What is a military for if we can't use it to stop a massacre like the one Gadhafi promised against the rebels? If we can't do a mission for humanitarian reasons we shouldn't have a military at all... which is a reasonable option to consider, I think.

  • @jenesaispas82 Then by your thinking we need to start a "mission" in Yemen now! oh yeah, and Iran, Syria, Bahrain, and Ethiopia, the Ivory Coast, Jordan ,Darfur, Tibet etc, etc. Reasonable options?

  • @toneo2001 Obviously you missed my thinking entirely... though I would have supported UN or AU intervention in Darfur, Sudan in the shameful Bush years, and in Rwanda under Clinton, no rational person would suggest military action in Tibet or the other countries you mention. There is a huge practical and moral difference between stopping a massacre or genocide, a la what Gadhafi would have done in Benghazi, and waging a war of aggression.

  • @jenesaispas82 Stopping Hussein, however?? Morally bankrupt??

  • reports khadafy's black mercenaries raped multiple arab girls in Libyan towns+

  • Cenk is now Pro-War !

  • Nope Cenk, if attacking a nation that never attacked us was wrong for Bush, it's wrong for Obama.

  • I see all these "Cenk you suckz you sellz out!!" and I lolz. I knew the very day Cenk got in on MSNBC the count down for such comments started. You guys are MENTAL!!!

Keep on rollin' Cenk, keep on truckin' through.

  • @Chubearishere How are we "mental"? We're just holding Obama to the same standards as Bush...

  • @Motionedout The difference is that Bush didn't prevent a massacre, he initiated one.

  • @jenesaispas82 I think it's hard to say that there'd be a certain massacre in Libya had we not intervened. And we rarely see our intervention if they country's name happens to be the Ivory Coast, Sudan, Rwanda...I don't want to belabor the point, but I think you get what I mean. If this happened during Bush's presidency I'd be against it. I'd even say Cenk would be against it. Libya never attacked us, and yet we're intervening supposedly for the "good of the people". That's a Bush line.

  • @jenesaispas82 Bush won congressional approval and Osama Hussien Obama did not get congressional approval to bomb Libya. Osama Hussien Obama is bombing Libya! Libya didn't bomb us or attack us! Osama Hussien Obama is bombing innocent civilians! He is a war criminal! He needs to be on trial. Osama Obama lied and people died! Where is the outrage from the left and from the media? What about the 2 billion Osama Obama spent so far on the Libyan war? where are the socialist democraps? hypocracy!

  • get well soon cenk

  • I'm with Cenk on this one. Bombing from the air is significantly different than a ground invasion. We are there with France, Britain, the Arab League, other major powers, we have a UN mandate, and there will be no ground troops. This is the only way to stop a genocide of an entire democratic movement.

  • @Magicwillnz Sorry, how is mass bombing any more acceptable then a ground assault?!?! It is far more devastating of an attack..

Also, Iraq had huge support from a large amount of countries..

Hussein was just as much of a dictator as Gadafi, the argument is ludicrous..

  • @willsbanana There's nothing ludicrous about it. We've done military interventions before that didn't result in long-term occupation. The international community has never applied military force evenly against all humanitarian threats, but that does not mean when a gross violation of human rights does occur, it should not be sanctioned against. It's a little like saying we should not pursue murderers because some killers go free.

  • @Magicwillnz

I think the thing is "who's 'we'?" Only Congress can declare war. Shooting our U.S. cruise missles into another country is war.

  • everyone who is against this war should unsubscribe from tyt . Cenk said it himself If Quaddafy is out is a MASSIVE WIN FOR OBAMA., what the fuck you go to war

to score political points, Cenk is a motherfucking chicken hawk , fuck him,

  • Cenk you're just another war mongering sellout. Guess your MSNBC paycheck was huge.

  • Comment removed

  • Cenk the correspondent AGAIN? FOR FUCK SAKES ANA CAN'T CARRY THIS SHOW SO GET YOUR ASS TO CALIFORNIA OR GET THE REST OF THEM TO NY.

My caps lock key is ripped out of my keyboard, I held shift that hold time, because my typing style doesn't require a fucking caps lock key

  • The US Constitution, is a joke. Any doubts?

  • @rollsthepaul dude the constitution is solid, it's the cons who try to tell us what it means is the problem.

  • @TheIronweasle Wrong. It's the neocons who piss on the constitution. Neocons couldn't possibly be less conservative. The only true conservative in modern politics, Ron Paul, would never have gotten us involved in Iraq, nor done any of the innumerable other blatantly unconstitutional things that W and Obama seem to go out of their way to do.

  • I'm still of the opinion that we should stay out of international affairs.

  • WTF? Cenk? Who the F*** do you think you are you arrogant c** what gives you the right to police the world! kill innocent civilians, how would you like it if your family was killed by foreign missiles?

    Cenk Uygur, another war hawk

  • There is no rebel force. They're just a bunch of enthusiastic fuckwits........as I would be if there was a revolution and loads of free weapons.

  • Are we sure that most of Lybians don't support Gadafi? In Tunisia and Egypt nobody supported the Goverment, but in Lybia (a country with good living conditions) that doesn't seem to be the case. And who are the rebels anyway? What do they stand for? Are they better than Gadafi? Is there any better alternative to Gadafi in Lybia right now?

  • @Adlershof wow, follow the news will you... cause all those questions been answered since day one of the protests in libya. or did you forget that it started with democratic freedom protests

  • @robinvan1983 Really? Tell me one, only one, quote of a Lybian rebel defending democracy. Actually, Can you recognize the face or name of any lybian rebel? None of these questions have been answered. The only thing that has been reported is that the rebels stop their activities to pray

  • @Adlershof technically they aren't rebels, they are citizens that protested and got bombed. did you miss that in the news? So technically they are as much of a rebel force as the people in egypt. Mohammed al-Mughrabi is the spokeperson of The Libyan "rebels" , Mustafa Abdul Jalil former justice minister is part of the council and is the prime minister. you might want to look them up...since you rather be don't make an effort in it and just ignorant about it

  • @robinvan1983 And their deffence of democracy? Or is it that during the time of Mustafa Abdul Jalil in the minestry of justice there were no human rights violations in Lybia? They are just opportinists who thought that could debunk Gadafi quickly. They don't represent the majority of libians and have no more legitimacy than Gadafi

  • @Adlershof so if you don't follow the news then you get these ignorant questions. Just do a search about National Transitional Council of Libya and you get all the info you have. it isn't that difficult

  • Can someone tell me why ground troops is bad? As soon as the coalition and the rebels win, the rebels takes control, isn't it totally different from Irak where there was nobody to put in charge?

  • @phprevot

The rebels are just as untrained and politically unaware as the 'rebels' in Iraq..

  • i agree with Cenk on every single point.

The only fear I have is, if this take more than a year, there will be ground troops. There is no way that Obama is stopping the war by saying "sorry, we tried". You have to consider that at that point we will be in the middle of the 2012 election. The GOP and FOX will destroy him over this issue if he does that. We all know Obama will never fight back to them, he is going to try be the "strong leader". And give in, as he always do.

  • Yeah, I've noticed over time that Cenk has been forming the opinions of the elitists and trying to give excuses for the foolishness that's going on. At the same time ignoring the other side of the media...goes hand in hand with the mainstream media. Go figure... He's still trying to make it seem like it's some republican vs. democrat thing when they're all birds of the same feather. Seriously..fuck this guy. Definite unsubscribe.

  • Who the hell do Europe and US think they are? The World Police? How can't they be ashamed of toppling unuseful dictators, and supporting the useful ones? They don't have any credibility or legitimacy whatsoever. An what a disappointment, to hear Cenk talking like this. I thought he was a thoughtful man.

  • Yes shooting missiles at planes is humanitarian in THIS scenario.

Are missiles peace makers? Not inherently, as they destroy things. But target a SAM site preventing planes from striking artillery from shelling civilian areas, then that's a different story. The attacks were strategic. Gaddafi hired mercenaries from other countries to butcher in the streets. He orders shelling of civilians, and airstriking non-military targets. When you say "Stop" and they say "No!", options are low.

  • @SamuelHans Strange you believe that, when similar atrocities were being committed in Gaza, Darfur, and are currently being committed in Yemen and Bahrain...yet all of a sudden, we're interested in Libya who happens to have the largest oil reserves in Africa. But hey..let's believe the official story and COMPLETELY ignore the allegations of innocent civilians being killed. The media just loves to quickly gloss over that little detail. Give it a few months...history is repeating quite nicely.

  • @XSilvenX

I do not agree with Gaza's situation at all, and that is absolutely terrible what is occurring. That does not mean I shouldn't give a damn about this. I also don't agree again with previous atrocities committed.

But this scenario, with innocents being killed... so they're on the oil reserves, so what, let them die?

And why would you say completely ignore the allegations of innocent civilians, when that is one of the most major points that this was done?

  • @SamuelHans The funny thing is, the only reason you know about it and feel this way is BECAUSE it's a major thing on the news. They can make any uprising situation seem imminent because that's what media does. But of course, since most people are media sheep, they don't necessarily understand this. When things are going on in a country the U.S. doesn't give a shit about, it simply turns its head and you hear nothing of it on the news. We will see though, like I said. Give it a month....

  • @XSilvenX

If by things the U.S. doesn't give a shit about/doesn't want you to, like mainstream media that covers what *they* want you to see then yeah there's problems. I find that depending on what it is, things like Gaza are irrelevant to many groups sadly. I know about this through various protests, emails, and international means. Not quite the media you are referring to I think for the majority, which I agree too. If this situation goes bad, I won't hesitate to change my stance.

  • @DidYouJustMakeThatUp

If you don't think we should help innocents, that's fine. Of course it costs money... almost $300m for those missiles. Much better than some wastes of money, like the multi-billion for Iraq and Afghanistan. Save money in wasteful battlegrounds, and put it to good use here. Disengage when done, and not waste more. I agree with costs, and to be focused. If people invade, bad. Do the job and pass control, good.

  • Of course people are pissed. US is bombing yet another Muslim/Arab country. Its starting to look pretty bad bombing all these countries. One thing I respected about Reagan. Is when US barracks got suicide bombed in Beirut. He knew to get he hell out of there. Arabs are fucking crazy.

  • "read my lips. no ground invasion."

  • @paolofanderson Who exactly are the Libyan rebels? You know nothing about them except they are anti-Gaddafi. Their sympathies may be with terrorists, they may be just another group of thugs. Yet you want to spend millions of your tax dollars and possible US lives to fight for them? Crazy!

  • @Bigwave2003 or maybe there the civilians of the country fighting against the dictator thats been in power for decades have you not watched any coverage wat so ever? so to correct your statement you sir know nothing about the rebels

  • @Bigwave2003 Well, assuming that the rebels are "terrorists" (something we can't prove either way) or "thugs" that hate the US (I'm pretty sure the whole country isn't thriled with us) is something that we can't really determine. Obama''s foreign policy is no better than Bush's, that's the least we need to know. Cenk is so hypocritical on this.

  • @Bigwave2003 Aiding support to their cause makes it way more likely that they won't side with our enemies . Are you forgetting that they are fighting a terrorist? Fox new said the same thing about Egypt as well, because you know that every time an oppressive dictator is overthrown the terrorists win.

I'll respond in the same way you did towards the situation. Who is this commenter? He might kill puppies. We don't know anything about him except he's rebel. You want to thumbs up him? Crazy!

  • @Bigwave2003 We've misplaced more money than we're spending on Libya in the Iraq war

  • @Bigwave2003

How are you so sure they have sympathies are with terrorists? How do you know Gadaffi is not with the terrorists? Afterall he did order the bombing of a few airliners.

  • Totally disagree, Cenk.

    1. How broke do we have to be before we stay out of other country's problems and use our money to fix what's wrong at home? Yesterday a US $31 million plane crashed in Libya. How many teachers would that hire? How much health care for kids?

    2. No such thing as a quick and easy war. Once they start killing Americans, taking US prisoners or Gaddafi side starts rolling, we're going to pick that moment to say we're outta there?

    3. Who are these rebels we support?

  • I dont get all the ppl who think that this is wrong.. How do you feel about Rwanda? How about Darfur? You people are so wrapped up in your Ideology that you dont take a step back and look at the situation.. you want to judge this presidency on the lies told to you by GWB.. Take a step back an look at whats going on.. This president will not allow that to happen on his watch and he said that in his Nobel speech..

  • @mashack12 GBW could claim the same moral high ground. Who says that GBW and his admin. felt morally obligated to act against the warcrimes of the Hussein dictatorship?

On the issue of GBW's 'lies.' Bush acted on intelligence given to him by the CIA, stating there were WMD's, yes, there turns out that there wasn't, but that was not the sole reason for invading Iraq. it was merely a brick (somewhat a large one, given) in the wall. Bush and co. laid out their reasoning and it was accepted..

  • @willsbanana Well then he would have said that it was to stop the slaughter of saddams ppl.. It was about WMD, & 9/11 remember? It was his dad whop went in and did the right thing by stopping the slaughter of the kurds remember? If you read the Rumsfeld book, it will tell you that they lied about WMD, and that they cherry picked info to make it look like they had info about WMD.. Bush wasnt trying save lives.. He could have went in to Darfur.. that would have been the same as this..

  • Obamas Father Is DARTH VADER!!

  • I think it's hilarious watching the hypocrites on MSNBC praises Obama's humanitarian bombing on Libya. If Bush did this the MSNBCers would have been very critical of Bush.
