09:48-10:06, particularly 09:48-10:00. Interesting. One of the rare events, if not only through the series, where Frasier plays off much more vulnerable and Niles much more steadfast / strong (insensitive??). So different from the hallmark big bro / little bro role!
For the comments about Frasier's hair, Daphne's hair was also longer and more wavy when she first met Frasier and Martin. Just sayin'. Doesn't matter, just enjoy the show.
@surrealfeline--Arugula possibly could mean the Mediterranean restaurant in West Hartford, CT. Since Frasier was living in Boston at that time, it's a possibility.
...this episode was filmed...they would fix this problem with the episode 'Crock Tales' in season 11, episode 22 where they actually used wigs, extensions to make Kelsey Grammer and Jane Leeves look somewhat the same. They can do more with cosmetics and wigs in 2004 than they could in 1996.
@kellmax001 What on earth are you talking about? The cosmetics and wigs industry saw virtually NO technological advancements between 1996 and 2004. Certainly not the best of the best of the industry which would be Hollywood make up/costume departments. My god..how old are you that you think that 1996 was some sort of dark ages for costumes? Hair extensions existed ong before then. Wigs made of realistic human hair existed for decades before then.
@knickknack07 Breathe...now relax, breathe...now relax. First my age is none of your business and 2 (as I said before) relax. Wiping the pink pony. Can I get an expert check in here? If he was a toddler then with mysophobia (yes, I looked that up) does this synchronize with the babysitter episode who told him he had 'earworms' and caused all this? Just running this by the experts …
0:42 May 21, 1993? It took him only one day to divorce Lilith, arrange the joint custody of Frederick, drive all the way to Seattle, and land a job a KACL?
(Cheers ended on May 20, 1993, and he was still in Beantown married to Lilith)
@corrupt200 Just because Cheers ended on May 20, didn't mean that the events in that episode took place on that day. They could've occurred in either March or April of that year. Add some time in between for the events that happened before the Cheers series finale, and the day this episode takes place, and everything makes sense. @mrdanijel Frasier could've gotten a haircut and a shave before he moved to Seattle.
This episode doesn't make sense - firstly, the pilot episode already covered Frasier's first day at the radio station. 2nd - Roz gives Frasier a tape of his first show as a present, but we find out later on that Frasier keeps a copy of every one of his shows in his room. 3rd - You'd think Frasier would recognize Daphne when she shows up at his apartment for day care job. 4th - they didn't even bother to fix Frasier's hair! (it should be longer if this is flashback). Just sayin'
Techinally: 1. By the time 'The Good Son' aired, Frasier had been at KACL for about 4 months and was still having problems and learning the ropes so to speak...2. It is possible that by season 10, in which 'The Two-Hundreth' takes place...that Frasier started collecting the tapes from this gift from Roz. 3. How many people remember a face that asked only "are you done with the sugar?" four months earlier? My guess is not that many. And finally...4. No wigs on the set the day...
@13charachters 1)The pilot wasn't Frasier's first day at the station. Did you even watch the pilot? It was set a few months after he started the job. Martin isn't living with Frasier in this ep, because this was, duh, *before* he moved in in the pilot. 2) Frasier could've started collecting tapes after Roz gave him the first tape as a present 3) Are you kidding? No one would recognize a stranger they glanced at for half a second months later 4) He could've cut it and then grown it back.
@grumpytosnowwhite I love you. I have no idea who you are, but I love you! lol. That person is an idiot! I was gonna answer, but you did a fine job! Blessings, yo!!
@13charachters The Pilot Episode didn't cover Frasier's first day. It starts with him in the studio, by then he was well acquainted with Roz, and was already comfortable with the job. As well he had already been well acquainted with Niles at the coffee shop later in the pilot episode. Also the flashback takes place before Martin moves in with Frasier..so he didn't have to look for Daphne. As far as the flashback and the hair, this is how "Frasier" remembers that day..
@13charachters Being that Frasier is the one remember the day, he is going to apply things that are in his current life, such as appearance..and everything that does happen would have been in his perspective of how he remembers it. Re-watch the pilot episode. "The Good Son" to see that all I say is True.
@13charachters As far as the tape, it's safe to assume that he started doing that much later in the series..seeing how he only has 841 tapes in his Closet. Yes, I counted...and Yea..I'ma geek for knowing this much about Frasier, but I LOVE this show....and the writers are brilliant, they would never dare make such a drastic mistake as the one you are claiming.
@13charachters I agree...partially. Yes, it is later revealed that he has all of his shows, but in the pilot, "The Good Son"(just watched it), it is stated that he has been in town for six months and given his gripe about "Chopper Dave", it would seem to be far from his first broadcast. Also, a single encounter in the cafe' would not necessarily trigger a memory of Daphne for Frasier. They hardly speak. As for the hair, well, it's only been three years. Maybe he likes his hair "just so".
Is it me or at 8:20, does Roz say "corticulture" instead of "horticulture?" Pretty distinctive "c" sound at the start. Just thought it was funny... most people find they can generally pronounce words properly after reading them, like in a script.
Greetings from Ireland. There are alot of little mistakes in this episode but it really doesn't matter because the humour is just brilliant. There will never be a show like this again
@gwhizkids I thought the same thing! And Roz's hair was different back then, too. Also, he's carrying the briefcase that Roz gave him. 8P I guess they didn't really care for details.
I couldn't help noticing that the Iamericanright videos have twice as much views as josmasterofvideos videos. are people so lazy that they cant press a button twice to watch an episode?
Out of all the actors, I think John Mahoney is the best in Frasier. Not downplaying David Hyde Pierce, but John Mahoney's acting abilities seem to have no bounds for the type of characters he can portray. If no one's seen him in some of his movie roles, I highly recommend it. Saddens me to see all the praise and attention go to David Hyde Pierce (although he is brilliant), but I think John Mahoney has better range for acting.
Has anyone noticed that Frasier has short hair in this episode when in fact after Cheers and when first moving to Seattle (first episodes) Frasier has long hair??
What's the relevance of the pictures of the actors and actresses at the end? It seems a bit random to me, did they have something to do with the show?
Lots of people here are complaining about Frasier's hair in the flasback scene, but if you think about it none of the other actors made much of an effort to make themselves look younger either. I think they did that on purpose.
But would Frasier really say "ma" instead of "my"? He never spoke like that in Cheers.
there's only one error in this episode...his hair. In the first two seasons, his hair was longer, and it was longer when cheers ended...oh well, it's not like i'm complaining, it's something interesting to note.
What's everyone on about with this whole pre-pilot thing? This is from season 3, isn't it? I think it's just a retrospective episode or whatever. (There must be a name for that.) The audience reactions indicate that they know about the Daphne/Niles thing, etc. Incidentally, as far as I can tell the title is actually 'You Can Go Home Again' (Frasier and Daphne do, after all), but I'm sure someone brought that up long ago.
Has anyone ever noticed that Niles wipes the seat and or table, and will put it back in his jacket....to use it again some other time. On his face or bleeding nose per se.
@sexyitsy I know, I can't stand it. Although I guess those kind of compulsions are usually very irrational in nature. It just makes me want to get him a paper towel and Lysol to carry around.
@ambalabibo "Thanks for calling" credits are shown at the end of each season giving credit to all the actors who played parts calling into Frasier's radio show. This was the final episode of season three.
@ambalabibo I may be displaying my age, but you don't know Laura Dern -she was the female scientist in Jurassic Park! And Matthew Broderick -Ferris Bueller and Jodie Foster -silence of the lambs and Jerry Orbach- law and order??? Those last three still pop up every now and then. Then again I am 24...
@ambalabibo you should recognize Matthew Broderick, Aka Ferris Bueler, aka Simba from the lion king, aka inspector gadget, and from godzilla, also in the producers, and many others.
Little owlet in the glen, I am ashamed of you; you are ungrammatical in speaking as you do. You should say "To whom, to whom", not "To who, to who"...your little friend, Miss Katydid, may be green, 'tis true, but you never heard her say--Who the HELL are you?
Cheers ended May 20, 1993 and this flashes back to May 21, 1993. Maybe Frasier flew to Seattle that night, got his hair cut before the first radio show, then decided to let it grow back the next 4 months before the pilot episode
@tempest9123 That is weird. I swear Frasier said that he left his wife six months ago in the pilot episode of Frasier. I always assumed Frasier and Lilith lived together and tried to reconcile but failed.
@joevictor53 in the pilot he was referring to when Lilith left him briefly during season 11 of Cheers, since he said my wife left me, then she came back to me
Daphne only gets a week a year off?!?! Geez... I dunno, maybe that is fair for a health care worker who takes care of the house. She needs to be around but still...
Daphne only gets a week a year off?!?! Geez... I dunno, maybe that is fair for a health care worker who takes care of the house. She needs to be around but still...
I never understood why Daphne thought she had to take an entire evening to make the decision of where she's going on her vacation. She couldn't think about it after dinner? And then when Frasier gave her the extra week off so the point was moot, she still didn't go with them.
Was his radio show ever mentioned towards the end of Cheers? Didn't watch all the eps yet, but I checked and the last episode was aired on May 20th 1993, so this would be set one day after leaving Boston.
@spagerbot You obviously don't watch the show or know what you're talking about, since Martin Crane was one of the best most noble fathers on television. The only reason he seems abrasive in this episode was because he'd been suffering loneliness and isolation after his wife died and the family was split up. Honestly, please know your facts before you go ranting so rudely.
It's been bothering me for quite a bit, and I'm sure that someone else has noticed this, but Frasier has short hair in this episode! He had long hair at the start of the show.
Boy, Roz doesn't look good in 'mom' jeans at all.
@manaburn That's what I was thinking. It's kind of weird that he would have long hair at the end of Cheers and long hair at the beginning of Frasier but short hair inbetween

Has anyone ever noticed that Niles wipes the seat and or table, and will put it back in his jacket....to use it again some other time. On his face or bleeding nose per se.
sexyitsy 1 year ago
@sexyitsy I know, I can't stand it. Although I guess those kind of compulsions are usually very irrational in nature. It just makes me want to get him a paper towel and Lysol to carry around.

Hehe, Niles - love at first smell.

being english and 21 i hardly ever recognise any of the 'stars' who called in haha. awesome episode, great to see a 'pre-pilot' episode. thanks

Awsome episode!

Clearly it isn't 1993 that he was reminiscing about as evidenced by Frasier's receding hairline. In the pilot his hair was longer and thicker LOL.

any particular meaning to the pictures of the random stars during the credits??
stefanielepine1 1 year ago
@stefanielepine1 They played the characters that called in to the show.
ExplodingConsole 1 year ago
@iamericanright
What did the credits mean when they said "Thanks for calling" and then put those pictures up?
ambalabibo 1 year ago
@ambalabibo "Thanks for calling" credits are shown at the end of each season giving credit to all the actors who played parts calling into Frasier's radio show. This was the final episode of season three.
TheCaptiveSpirit 1 year ago
@TheCaptiveSpirit Oh wow! They got Eric Idle, Ray Liotta & Billy Crystal ! Unfortuantely, I don't recognise the rest of them, I'm only 16!
ambalabibo 1 year ago
@ambalabibo I may be displaying my age, but you don't know Laura Dern -she was the female scientist in Jurassic Park! And Matthew Broderick -Ferris Bueller and Jodie Foster -silence of the lambs and Jerry Orbach- law and order??? Those last three still pop up every now and then. Then again I am 24...
laylod4 1 year ago
@ambalabibo you should recognize Matthew Broderick, Aka Ferris Bueler, aka Simba from the lion king, aka inspector gadget, and from godzilla, also in the producers, and many others.

Little owlet in the glen, I am ashamed of you; you are ungrammatical in speaking as you do. You should say "To whom, to whom", not "To who, to who"...your little friend, Miss Katydid, may be green, 'tis true, but you never heard her say--Who the HELL are you?
Absolute classic. And Niles rules!
SenorSpode 1 year ago 36
Why does Frasier even carry a briefcase?
And lol @ 21 mins when Frasier was looking at Niles, anticipating a silly remark after Daphne said she'd get into a bikini.
Xaquake 1 year ago
Cheers ended May 20, 1993 and this flashes back to May 21, 1993. Maybe Frasier flew to Seattle that night, got his hair cut before the first radio show, then decided to let it grow back the next 4 months before the pilot episode
tempest9123 1 year ago 4
@tempest9123 That is weird. I swear Frasier said that he left his wife six months ago in the pilot episode of Frasier. I always assumed Frasier and Lilith lived together and tried to reconcile but failed.
joevictor53 1 year ago
@joevictor53 in the pilot he was referring to when Lilith left him briefly during season 11 of Cheers, since he said my wife left me, then she came back to me
tempest9123 1 year ago
@tempest9123 Yes but as I recall he says six months ago I left Boston blah blah blah.

Daphne only gets a week a year off?!?! Geez... I dunno, maybe that is fair for a health care worker who takes care of the house. She needs to be around but still...

Episode full of pathos. Real comedy and life..love it.
normalil 1 year ago
I never understood why Daphne thought she had to take an entire evening to make the decision of where she's going on her vacation. She couldn't think about it after dinner? And then when Frasier gave her the extra week off so the point was moot, she still didn't go with them.

@zkhn21 those were the people that were the voices of frasiers callers throughout the season.

@zkhn21 They do it at the end of each season. It's people who were the voices of callers on Frasier's show throughout the season

Frasier has long hair when he first moved back to Seattle...
So, him having short hair here is undoubtably a mistake.

Was his radio show ever mentioned towards the end of Cheers? Didn't watch all the eps yet, but I checked and the last episode was aired on May 20th 1993, so this would be set one day after leaving Boston.

Fuck, I fucking HATE Martin.
Abusive much?
spagerbot 1 year ago
@spagerbot He gets better. He's just bitter here.
phix95 1 year ago
@spagerbot You obviously don't watch the show or know what you're talking about, since Martin Crane was one of the best most noble fathers on television. The only reason he seems abrasive in this episode was because he'd been suffering loneliness and isolation after his wife died and the family was split up. Honestly, please know your facts before you go ranting so rudely.
surrealfeline 5 months ago
It's been bothering me for quite a bit, and I'm sure that someone else has noticed this, but Frasier has short hair in this episode! He had long hair at the start of the show.
Boy, Roz doesn't look good in 'mom' jeans at all.
manaburn 1 year ago
@manaburn That's what I was thinking. It's kind of weird that he would have long hair at the end of Cheers and long hair at the beginning of Frasier but short hair inbetween
