  • damn this is why I got a 240. Amazing swap, you see rb25's and sr20's everyday, same boring stuff, this is nice considering you have no turbo its instant power and you can redline this all day, good for straight lines, daily driving or drifting

    that awd 2.0 hung with that 5.7.....and I own a 240sx, a wrx, and an ls1 camaro so before anyone says other wise suck my pee pee.

  • damnit i have the motor, swap kit, suspension parts, etc... just missing the car and now i have 2 guys tryin to sell to me different 240's one is a 97 and the other is a 94. WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO I LOVE BOTH OF THEM, FUCK SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This will be my second build of a 240 with a ls motor and i had the 98 to work with the first time. Damnit i love both what do i do oh woooh is meeee....!!!!!!!

  • Do the 94 b/c they are only verts as you prolly know. Never seen a ls1 vert.

  • i did the 97 and sold it. Made 5k on top of costs. Next time. Besides the 94 in this matter wasn't a vert. Would be nice though seeing how it would be different.

  • I've never seen a 94 that wasn't a vert. 89-93 are coups and hatches and 94 verts and 95-98 are s14s. A vert ls1 would be pure gangster and og tho.

  • The LS series has a huge advantage over ka-t/sr/rb... It's completely smog legal and the gas mileage is supposedly around 30mpg. It's out of the box performance and reliability. If something does go wrong though it's an easy trip to Autozone.. something you can't do with rb/sr.

  • 3 inch collectors off headers to dynamax bullet mufflers 3 inch to single 3 inch to 3 inch dynamax straight through muffler in rear! total of 3 mufflers basically.

    o and not to be a dick that is not an STI its a wrx :D you could tell because the STI would not have those fog lights under the headlights it would say STI there instead

  • did you just say too much torque? get the hell out of youtube. and actually it all matters about the gear ratio of the rear end. the stock 240 rear can hold the power... but you'll top out at like 80mph. the ratio of the camaro is 3.73, and the 240 is 4.08, the closest gear ratio with VLSD is the q45 which requires no modification and is 3.69 the only thing i would be worried about are the axle CV joints. they'll blow out quick under that much torque.

    I've ran 4:30 gears in a car before and I could still hit 120 mph in 3rd gear, so quit going around saying 4.08 gears won't let you go past 80. DO THE MATH OLD FART

  • the j30 vlsd is a 3.92.

    240sx hicas vlsd's are still 4.08 if i remember correctly.

    Do your research before bashing.

  • I have broken 1 r200 pinion gear on a welded diff, I have also broken the splines inside the inner passenger cv boot. I was thinking about doing the q45 diff swap well see.

  • how did it handle on the highway with the welded diff? im thinking about doing that but not sure if its going to push or not.

  • lol the stock ratio of all the 6 speed camaro's is a 3:42 ratio that is also the same ratio that the corvette's use including the zo6. auto z28 camaro's came with 2:73 ratio's, and there was an option of 3:23. that is all thank u

    First I heard from a lot of people it was 130 pounds lighter than the KA which seemed wayyy too light.

    Then a bunch of other stuff

    Do you know how heavy are the LS1 and the T56, acutally the last figure I saw was around 490 lbs for LS1 and 130 lbs for T56...

    If its only a few pounds heavier its gotta be the best swap for this car !!!

  • the weight difference is minimal when swapping an LS1 due to the aluminum vs iron block. IE if you have a stock auto KA24DE and swap a LS1 with a t56 you actually lose like 5 lbs.

    What rear are you running? Im in the middle of getting an Aluminum Q45 rear installed with a 3.68 ring gear and pinion, and Z32 TT Axels with a Cucso 1.5way, paired up with 18x9's

  • yep ls1. corvettes and silverados have variants of those engines

  • The Camaro Z28 and SS (SS has like 10 or so more hp and torque), and the Trans Am and Formula Firebird have the same 5.7L V8 LS1's.

  • Actually The SS has less torque. A lot less torque. Anyone care to speak about LS1 ringers? My buddy's stock dyno was 350. Check out the donuts. Agenttyranus.

  • The other crazy thing is that your video finally shows why the f-cars are setup to understeer. You can get neutral handling just by putting the accelerator down a little further, but half of these yahoos out here couldn't handle a truly neutral handling car anyway so why make it easier to kill themselves....

  • the car isnt setup to handle neutrally. 240s are known for their understeer and if you have sense of vision you can see his car isnt handling heutrally its oversteering a lot but he is doing it on purpose.

  • 240sx may understeer, but they are more neutral than American performance cars. I've owner both so I know personally. In addition, he stated that there was no sway bar on the car. Don't be so defensive I am actually on your side....

  • the weight distribution with the LS1 is actually better than with the ka24de as it weighs 130 pounds less. evens out the weight distribution a little bit and sheds over 100 pounds off the car. and LS1 is 50 state smog legal. why bother with anything else?

  • ok.. well car weight 2625 with half tank gas... with bumper supports .. no blower motor a/c or heater core.. no tar on floorbooards.. basically 2 seats, dash, center console, and door panels... 50 state legal with cats!!!

  • God you are so right. I talked to the guy at Hinson motorsports and he confirmed. I've had both a Trans Am and a 240sx just like this one. I would have never thought you could combine the two. but I'ma give it go myself - just do the math (Clean 240sx + LS1 and associated mods = $10,000-maybe less) and still definitely cheaper and possibly faster than a Corvette. Great handling too....

  • as for a 240sx MAYBE being faster than a corvette... your taking corvette power and your shedding 700 pounds off of it... of course its gonna be faster.. its gonna be A LOT FASTER. LS1 S13 with bolt ons will probably keep up with the new 505hp z06. stock motor ls1 s13 can break into 11s. $70,000 for z06 or $10,000 for ls1 s13. you decide..

  • this video is friken awesome! those are the kind of rims im trying to get for my s13 but im not sure of the offset.... right now im thinking 18X7.5 +38 and 18X9.5 + 35 for the rear... if anyone could help me out that would be sweet!

  • well i dont like my offsets but you can fit the 18x9.5 +35 in rear on stock fender with a 265 35 18 tire. minor fender lip roll thats it. fronts are 18x 8.5 + 35 but i have 25 mm spacers on it to make it sit more flush.

    But , im not liking the drifting on the streets deal , if you even call that drifting , if your are , then you are starting your drifts waaaaay to late , more like powerover than anything. plus the street racing is the ghey..and please dont reply "f' you kid" , cause im 32. But , that motor sounds like music...i would do anything do have that motor in myu S13.

  • your right alot is power over but also i had no sway bar and not much time on the setup and i not to shure on how it reacted. Since then i have got a little more comfortable with it but yes it is a beast. I also have a camera mount now so video will be more stable from now on.
