  • One of those "pop songs" you took for granted all those years ago, now it sounds so good to hear with all the happy memories it brings back...,

  • I thought I was the only person that knew Jimmy

Page played the lead. Iloved Herman'sHermits

  • Hey 2000's, I want you meet the the older years' music. Take notes.

  • this version sucks

  • THE RAYS ARE THE ORIGINALS

  • 00:25....''luke skywalker was here '67''

  • i <3 this song, it's so cute :3

  • Hermans' Hermites were actually the 8th group or artist to record this song.

it all started with the RAYS (managed by FRank Slay) and it went from there.

Some of the early 50's artists were: Steve Gibson, Connie Francis, Cliff Richards

and so on.........too many for me to remember.

  • Sorry everyone! Vic Flick is the one who gets the credit here.

  • Which one's Justin Beaver?

  • @wwwonderful Umm you're blind, go away.

  • More confusion about the Guitar riff!

I heard years ago that the Guitarist in Hermans Hermits couldn't play the riff, apparently it really screwed him up that he couldn't nail it.

So Mickie Most got in Jimmy Paige to play it.

Jimmy played it and the rest is history.

Then I saw a programme on TV that said that the Guy from Hermans Hermitts was a really good Guitarist and nailed the riff first time.

    Who do you belive?

  • @orriblebob I haven't played it but my guess is that that series of triplets in that guitar run (with key change), picked and double-tracked cleanly enough for recording purposes, would probably have challenged most of the pop group guitarists of that era. However, it doesn't sound like Page either, who wasn't noted for clean picking and was most often drafted in to get the rough bluesy 'modern pop sound' on solos that the older players (who picked cleanly) didn't get. Only guessing though.

  • @sludgefingers You are obviously quite clued up on musical terms!

I am just a music fan.

But I can understand what you mean, the notes are in groups of 3.

We saw Hermans Hermits a few years ago, only 1 original member ( the drummer) and for the intro they just "busked it" with chords.

To be honest they were a cabaret band, telling jokes and stuff, quite sad really.

Anyway thanks for putting me in the picture!

  • Keith Hopwood was my favorite !! His photo is the first one you see in the video,

  • Fantastic song!!!!!! Love the guitar part.

  • I hate it when that happens...

  • This should be renamed "The Stalker's Ballad"

    webbrmkvc

  • Jimmy Page and JPJones on this track.

  • @spursareshit no shit? was jimmy part of the band for a period of time or was he just a featured guest for this track?

  • @nestorguti2176 This song was just one of the hundreds that Jimmy played on as part of his session work.

  • One of the best versions I have heard. Thank you for leaving it the original and not messing it up. Great video comp too.

  • THIS is the original ...

  • @sippy1111 no its not

  • @sippy1111

Tritty is right......... The Rays did it back in 1957..... One year before I was born Herman's Hermits did ti in 1965 I think.

  • This is absolutely precious. Love the photos too. Thanks for posting!

  • super gracias por subir esta version tan bien hecha
