errm...my great uncle was not scottish and was lead trumpet for many years...john Spencer...if It helps My dad was Scottish and my daughter is learning cornet
I absolutely love the sound of the snare drums in bagpipe bands.... How do they get such and high and tight sound? is their an addition on top of the drum?
Sorry, I did not intend to insult your family, my opinion is my own, I just believe pipes can create an awful noise especially when played by a Scotsman! Now an Irishman from The North or the South can make pipes come alive with melodic bliss! Just joking with you best wishes,
The Pipes & Drums of the Scots Guards association must be comprised of many ex-SG pipers because they have the manner and style if a guards pipe band. They play well with the band of the Scots Guards. Tune here is "Cock O'The North".

bad base drummer all he is doing is beating the drum he should vary hands atleast
umakeiwatch 2 years ago
Do you mean beating the drum on the left, right, left, right, etc.?
I absolutely hate that, it creates an absolute shit sound as the beats go off in either direction, creating different echoes.
I believe that most bass drummers in the UK are taught to beat the drum only on either side at a time and never to alternate between the two.

I am from the USA, but I love the sound of the pipes being played.
