Harry had a original and very noble purpose for being there. That was to support the NCBH after the loss of his dear friend John. His willingness to come out live on stage was something he before never did and it was an honor to have him do so....Drew (the band).
Well, at least his voice sounds better here than other videos I've seen of him singing at a Beatlefest....still, you can see that he's so far gone he couldn't hold a key if it sat on 'im. Poor Harry ......between John's brutal death and the fact that he'd become no more than a footnote in the music business rather than the huge talent he was, the poor guy didn't stand a chance.
Heck, his mentor died 12 years earlier, He lived to see the dream end, I don't mean that negatively. Old Harry was just past his prime at this point, Happens to all of us, Really. There is no "Grand Escape." It's more of what Harry is doing here... think of it as you wish.
@tommyrock69 I wouldn't necessarily say that Lennon was his mentor but the two of them had parallel careers. Of course Harry is not as well known as he should be considering the great albums he put out over the years.
I'm not so sure his voice was shot as much as him. just being smashed. This pretty much sucked, much as I love Nilsson. It's like the Bonzo Dog band on Magical Mystery Tour.
@phishbeat I was there too, just a few feet away from ole Harry... he was blitzed off his ass - but damn, I miss him. I saw him later too by the elevator (he was even more smashed and two guys were holding him up) and I'll always remember - being the dopey kid I was I asked him if there was ever going to be a sequel to The Point - and he said that he actually had an idea for something called "Back To The Point", but nobody was interested. Then off he went, presumably up to his room. G'nite Harry

oh ok... now i've read the comment below me....
it is a shame though that he ruined his voice semi purposefully during a screaming/singing battle with john lennon... it was so beautiful.
