Yes all blacks are the best team at the moment but it's gonna be really more difficult at the RWC even french team seems to be as strong as eggs but everybody know what happened at the last RWC. Besides they will have many pressure on them because everybody think they'll win the RWC

For the past year or more the standard of rugby has gone down a lot.

Dont get me wrong, irelands grand slam, south africas dream year and a great lions tour was brilliant................. but when you see a game like this it really brings it home.

Every game of rugby should be played like this. Its time the IRB realise that the notion of aerial ping-pong is making the game boring and extremely non-entertaining.

If the super 14 is the premier competition then how come there has been a huge exodus to play in the H cup, the tri nations has been played since 96 and dominated by NZ in the NH its been going 1883. The SH and particularly one-eyed kiwis need to accept BOD was a better player this year because the rest of the rest of the world can see it

ireland are only undefeated because you didnt play the All Blacks, and everytime you have played the All Blacks recently Conrad Smith has clearly outplayed BOD. Just because O'Driscoll is good by Irish standards doesnt make him the best in the world....Fourie DuPreez if anyone deserved player of the year ahead of McCaw....but as it stands McCaw plays the most physical position at the highest standard consistently year in year out...DuPreez had a good year but hasnt always been as doiminant

I love the game as we all do. Think Smith is extremely underrated but even he says BOD is the benchmark for centres. I agree the standard down under is better but BOD plays for a team although good, that doesn't have the class of players that NZ have playing around him. EXtra pressure on BOD. If Smith doesn't do it, Nonu will, or Muliaina will, or Carter. You have more matchwinners in your side mate. We have taklented players but we always look to BOD to produce something...

@mickser101 the exodus is purely for the money and a chance to experience new cultures/travel....we have since found that every time a player comes back from NH it takes them a season or two to get back up to speed (Chris Jack, Luke McAlister, Dan Carter etc)

How can BOD be the best in the world when Conrad Smith clearly outplayed him, and consistently performs against the best teams ie. Springboks? I saw the Ireland vs Australia game BOD went MIA

Fact is your arrogance is overwhelming you ask any rugby player or fan who deserved it and about 80% would say BOD. O'Driscoll has been involved in 90% of Irish tries and led Ireland undefeated in 2009. Allblacks lost 4, Springboks lost 6 so stop whinging,loser.

McCaw plays the best sides all year round, BOD plays the average 6 nations, when he came up against the big teams he did very little. The way he was burned so badly by De Villiers was crazy.

Firstly O'Driscoll deserved it because of being Ireland's Grand Slam winning captain, Heineken cup winning captain, having a great Lions series, having a Great Autumn series, top scorer in the Heineken cup and 6 Nations, being an inspirational leader and playing amazing in every single game, McCaw had average super 14, awful Tri-nations outplayed by Brussouw and had good Autumn. Sadly the clowns in the IRB got it horribly wrong

you are kidding, mccaw plays in the premier rugby competitions against the best teams and players in the world. o'dris winning the 2nd rate 6 nations and heineken means nothing. the northern hemisphere got their quota player of the year last year, reward the real players this year. you have to judge who the receipient played against, and northern rugby is complete tosh.

Great result for NZ. McCaw easily one of the best players if not the best player in the world in the last decade but this year he wasnt the best player in the world. was off form for a chunk of the year and was injured for big part too. BOD or du preez deserved it.
