@christsminstrel One thing my mother talks about is part of hell is described as eternal suffering, including always being thirsty and never having water to drink. My mother went 3 days not being allowed to drink anything after she had a C-section, and that was the most miserable time of her life so she can not imagine what eternity like that would be like. And I agree, I've been sick and couldn't drink, most miserable feeling ever, who would want to face that for 1000 years?
Movie about “imminent” pretribulation rapture made 39 years ago(!) In my studied opinion, the events will not occur in the order portrayed in this film. The bible clearly says that the Lord will return only AFTER the sun and moon have been darkened (Isa 13:9-10, Isa 24:20-23, Joel 2:1-10, Amos 8:8-9, Matt 24:29-31, Mark 13:24-26, Luke 21:25-28, Rev 6:12-11:15.) After that the redemption (“rapture”) will occur - an event we, as believers, eagerly await and unbelievers scoff (2 Pet 3:3-4 KJV.)

@dmnemaine - It's an evil thing for parents NOT to tell their kids about the truth of God's word. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." I wish my parents took me to a real Bible-beiieving church when I was growing up. Even the New Testament writings of Paul clearly indicate that he himself expected to be among the living at the time of Jesus' return. It's just another scare tactic used to keep people "in line". @dmnemaine I know the Bible is true because the prophecy contained in it has come true. The Prophecy is a sign to mankind that it can be trusted. Some were recorded hundreds of years before they happened. Many have not been fulfilled yet, but will be. The so-called prophecies in the bible are very ambiguous and can be made to mean anything you want them to. Also, the writers of the New Testament were very aware of the Old Testament "prophecies" about the Messiah. You have no proof of the fulfillment of those prophecies other than someone else's say so. In other words, hearsay, which is not proof of fulfillment. Just because somebody wrote in a book that some Old Testament prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus doesn't make it so.

Ezekiel (or whoever was the writer of the book that bears his name) knew this was happening, and it's pretty obvious from the passage that it is a reference to what was happening at the time of the writing of the book. @dmnemaine If you knew the actual prophesies, and then read and knew the history (especially world history) then you would know all of the fulfillments that have happened and are happening now; then the rest will soon come to pass. I can show you in the Bible 5 prophesies that the fulfillments have recently happened, and some are coming to fulfillment now and soon all the others will, too. Recieve Christ, or prepare to deal with the Antichrist. It's heaven or hell; those are the only 2 choices.

@christsminstrel One thing my mother talks about is part of hell is described as eternal suffering, including always being thirsty and never having water to drink. My mother went 3 days not being allowed to drink anything after she had a C-section, and that was the most miserable time of her life so she can not imagine what eternity like that would be like. And I agree, I've been sick and couldn't drink, most miserable feeling ever, who would want to face that for 1000 years?

Movie about “imminent” pretribulation rapture made 39 years ago(!) In my studied opinion, the events will not occur in the order portrayed in this film. The bible clearly says that the Lord will return only AFTER the sun and moon have been darkened (Isa 13:9-10, Isa 24:20-23, Joel 2:1-10, Amos 8:8-9, Matt 24:29-31, Mark 13:24-26, Luke 21:25-28, Rev 6:12-11:15.) I am speaking from experience. I grow up going to church as a young girl and into my adult life. I only took Christ as savior when I also died from a asthma attack. Yep Christ gave me another chance. People deny the truth of the bible, then how true could other historical writings be? they could just be fictional stories. As on said to prove the writing by the writings is circular reasoning. They could be just great stories. There are people who deny the extermination of millions of jews in concentration camps and that was in the 1940's. If you think the bible is fiction, then to be fair all historical . the writngs that happened before you were alive to witness are fictional as well.

The bible predicts things that could not have been thought of on the human level, like nuclear warfare, and everyone in the world seeing events at once, how do you explain this?

Jesus is the only way to get into Heaven there is nothing in this world or anyone else other than Jesus that can save you and get you into Heaven. I've looked over your comments and I Do know one thing; when I see a building downtown, I may not know WHO built it, but I DO know there HAD to be an architecht. From what I've read, God only holds us responsible for the amount of truth we know. I also know that if a person Really wants to know God, that He will Reveal Himself to that person. The people I know who don't know God, have already chosen something else...

@dmnemaine Wont happen though. Logic doesnt prevail. People have imaginary things called feelings that cannot be explained. So fear trumps all in the majority. I feel fear at times, then I think about what it is that i am afraid of. Then I usually dont fear anymore.

Look up FEAR in the bible its original meaning is "reverential awe", if I revered someone there would be a deepseated reason for that reverence but few if any can cause me to feel true awe. If I could wrap my brain around GOD then he would be a tiny creator.

Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." I wish my parents took me to a real Bible-beiieving church when I was growing up. Otherwise, I wouldn't have made a lot of bad decisions in life. Thankfully, I did find the Lord and He knows how to make all things work together for good. Jesus is real and He is coming back soon!

In ancient Greece it would have been Zeus or Apollo or Athena or one of the other of their deities. @dmnemaine - While I agree a country's culture can influence a person's spiritual beliefs, the fact is people are becoming Christians all over the world even in nations where preaching the gospel is illegal. In Iran, there are reports of former Muslims who had Jesus appear to them in dreams saying, "I am the way to heaven. Allah is not the way." Thanks to tools such as the Internet, Matthew 24:14 is coming to pass right now. Nobody will have an excuse on Judgment Day.

@dmnemaine - Yes, I have been "brain washed." I've chosen to renew my mind and "cleanse it with the washing of water by the word" (Romans 12:2, Ephesians 5:26). That protects a believer from deceptive lies preached through the secular media. Since my true citizenship is in heaven, I set my mind of things above more than things on this earth. "We can conclude that we are now living in the end times." Christians have been thinking that they were "living in the end times" since the start of the religion. Even the New Testament writings of Paul clearly indicate that he himself expected to be among the living at the time of Jesus' return. It's just another scare tactic used to keep people "in line". Frighten them into thinking the end of the world is close by.

You might say "The Bible is God's Word." How do you know it's "God's Word"? "Because the Bible claims it is." That is what is known as a circular argument, and is a logical fallacy. You CANNOT use the Bible to prove the Bible.

@dmnemaine I know the Bible is true because the prophecy contained in it has come true. The Prophecy is a sign to mankind that it can be trusted. Some were recorded hundreds of years before they happened. Many have not been fulfilled yet, but will be. No other beliefs can back up their writings with this much fulfilled prophecy or with as much accuracy. Watch JS1WlP2a4_s on you-tube to get a little more info.

The so-called prophecies in the bible are very ambiguous and can be made to mean anything you want them to. Also, the writers of the New Testament were very aware of the Old Testament "prophecies" about the Messiah. You have no proof of the fulfillment of those prophecies other than someone else's say so. In other words, hearsay, which is not proof of fulfillment. Just because somebody wrote in a book that some Old Testament prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus doesn't make it so.

@dmnemaine Ezekiel 36:22-24 is a direct prophecy of Modern Day Israel That is still being fulfilled. verse 24 says "For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land."

The book of Ezekiel was written at the time when the Jews were being allowed by the Persians to establish settlements in the land they were taken away from by the Babylonians. Ezekiel (or whoever was the writer of the book that bears his name) knew this was happening, and it's pretty obvious from the passage that it is a reference to what was happening at the time of the writing of the book. Again, you have something ambiguous enough here. (cont.)

@dmnemaine If you knew the actual prophesies, and then read and knew the history (especially world history) then you would know all of the fulfillments that have happened and are happening now; then the rest will soon come to pass. I can show you in the Bible 5 prophesies that the fulfillments have recently happened, and some are coming to fulfillment now and soon all the others will, too. Recieve Christ, or prepare to deal with the Antichrist. It's heaven or hell; those are the only 2 choices.

@dmnemaine I choose to believe the Bible because it is a reliable collection of historical documents, written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They report supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies, and they claim to be divine rather than human in origin. That is why I choose to believe in the Bible, please, tell me whey you disagree with it.

Christians will disappear one day (rapture), like what this movie says. You will be left behind. Then maybe you will believe. You may also just wait for death and face God, just as the Bible says. Maybe then you will believe.
