Okay, this is my opinion of it, just so that everyone knows. If you have ever watched the camera, and the visualizations in Guitar Hero, they are almost direct ripoffs of this clip.

The crowd.

The camera shot angled down the neck of the guitar.

The animation.

It really is obvious.

@Jerkface68 I am no great fan of guitar hero or any music game, but i do know a bit about filming. the reason they look simpler is there are only so many ways to vary a strum and make it look interesting and there isn't all that many. take a look at any guitar dual video with a decent camera operator (as in one that will move around and not keep one angle locked in for the whole thing) and you'll see similarities there as well.
