by the way, in parodius portable for psp they changed the music for 1:20 of this video to Naoki's Brilliant 2 U song which you can hear in other Konami's games like Beatmania or Dance Dance Revolution
The teacher heads parody the Moai heads seen in other Gradius and Parodius games. Why did Konami chose to use Moai heads as enemies? You'd have to ask them. I certainly don't understand it!
BTW, Konami does far, far worse and much sillier things to the Moai-head theme throughout the Parodius series, including sticking, on a huge battleship, a Moai face that pops out on a spring when the player annoys it.
Konami has a very weird and delightful sense of humor... and great music.
There's actually more behind those Moai heads at this specific part of the game : they are parodic representations of the heroines of the Dating Sim Tokimeki Memorial (the stage they're in, Stage 2, as well as the game's subtitle "Forever with me" is BTW a huge parody of "Tokimeki Memorial : Forever with you").
i only remember this game for 2 reasons: the commentators who will comment on anything (in japanese) and the Speed stage based on Lethal Enforcers (which has an arranged version of the tune "Desperate to Survive")
I don't know if I could play this game, I'd be too distracted by all the crazy shit happening. Oh, & 2:12, a remix of a catchy 90s song, how enigmatic.
I remember that, the first time I played this, I totally grooved to that particular homage to KC & the Sunshine Band, all the way up to the giant shiny at the end of the stage. :D
It's almost as fun as the remix of "In the Mood" (1940s?) that shows up in Go-whatever-yuu Parodius (the second one)
06:22: Black-haired penguin used Shoryuken!
It's super-effective!

The musics in this game's SNES version are good, but IMO they are much better on the PS and Saturn updated version.

Dontcha mean 3:12 with the remix of That's The Way (I Like It)? That does rock though it's the 70s, not 90s.
Still, awesome game and awesome music, I'm sure you can play it, I managed to :D

Yeah, I remember thinking "I'm probably way off with which decade it came out." Thanks for the corrections.

Awesome stuff but I enjoy the music better in the Saturn version.
