American Accent?!?

The American accent I've been looking for brits to try is the Midwestern american accent. I think they would have trouble dealing with it. its slow off the mark in speech.

@jktwins19 Is it? I'm from Illinois and I didn't think many people here talk slow. The Midwestern accent is often considered Standard American English. Most national sports broadcasters are from the Midwest since our accent can be understood by those from coast to coast.

america is like the entertainment capital of the world. american media is very influential throughout the world from movies/music...but i cant say the same about english entertainmnet, english celebs arent that big over here in america...the biggest was probably the beatles LOL

right now, the most popular music/movies watched by english ppl/teens are american musicians/actors etc

Im american, but alot of my family speak with a british accent so Im very used to both. i think Im good at both accents. but it is not so posh as people make it out to be and fyi the australian accent is way different. Im also good at a spanish accent (dominican) - and just fyi im fluent in american sign language and it is NOT the same as british sign... oh yea, peoples opinion of american accent is different since there are "so many" different american accents!! good luck! :)

i think the reason the California accent is really easy to understand is because that is the basic hollywood accent so that is what people are exposed to the most. Im from Nor Cal and I sometimesnotice the differences between my accent and that of my cousin who lives on the east coast.

I like the American accent. especially the Southern one(the cultured Southern accent, not the redneck one), and the New York accent also sounds cool... anyhow, you Americans sound like a nice, friendly bunch of people.

I cant really say what people in London would say about your accents, but in the north of england, the accents are so extreme and there are so many different accents up north, nothing like the london accent... well anyways what i am trying to say is, up north your accent would seem a lot stronger to us guys, which is a very good thing!!
