  • I know this will always be known as Space Battleship yYmato, but as an American who saw the original series in 1980, I will always know this as Star Blazers. And I will always call them Desslok, Deric Wildstar, Venture, Sandor, Nova, Homer, and IQ-9. But I don't necessarily have to call the ship "Argo".

  • So...they are at Saturn but it will take 3 days to get back to Iscandar's warp jump location....if only it were that easy the first time they went there.

And why isnt this guy a friggin captain yet? Decorations include but not limited to: - Saving the earth from extinction 2 times

  • @Nikkodemis Hear Hear! After all that Wildstar has done for Earth, along with the rest of the Star Force, he should be a Supreme Fleet Admiral by now!

  • running with only underwear on , remeber that from forces lol

  • He's not an actual captain yet?!?!?!?

  • Alex: Hey DESSlolk Desslok Desslok? Give Derek a message for me? I'm on Iscandar with Starsha and happy. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge and Desslok? You're not, so neener neener neener.

Really? Good idea to poke a guy with a penchant for (ahem) impulse control?

  • @demonlordpiccolo I totally know how you feel! but I think starblazers an space battleship yamato take separate paths here as starblazers makes a final dead end series whereas SBY goes to movies and finally the big screen!

  • @galloway6204 you know what, there is a JP version. The only thing is that there is no subs.

  • LOL @3:54 Talons bust'n out some tasty beats

  • "...5 or 6 destroyed planes, now! Oh and guys mighta died, too." VERY sensitive, Kodai. Also, am I wrong, or is Nova the ONLY women on board. isn't that kind of, dangerous? Hey, my favorite lacky, TalOn is back. I like him. NANI-eee?!?! The Japanese are the ones who started "Deputy- Captain"?! . OK, I'M Stumped-A planet excellerates and then warps after losinf orbital integrity? Im no astro-techy, but COME ON! Does any one know if 'deputy-captain' is a real rank in the Japanese Defence Force?

  • Season 3 is only in English on You Tube *shudders*

  • 5:38 "Sir, Isscandar appears to have sprouted a thruster! She's accelerating to warp one!"

  • Yamato communications officer: "Sir, we are picking up disco orchestral arrangments bearing two-four-four, range 200 meters!"

  • 1st officer to Leader Dessler: "Sir, our engines and systems appear to be emitting a sinister 'weeeeee, wee-wee-weeeeee, wee-wee-weeeeeee'. It could give away our position, sir!"

  • Yuki always has a towel to wipe Kodai's brow!

  • .....If the god damn Wave motion engine's optimum output is at 120%....that rating should be called 100% instead....

  • Maybe the engine is more efficient than anticipated. The space shuttles engines are 108% efficient.

8% more than they were designed to do. Impressive.

  • 100% is the nominal value used for propulsion. 120% is the overkill dose for evil aliens.

  • I wonder... what is the average temperature of the space between the stars in a wing/arm of a Milky Way type of gallaxy? It must be awfully cold and silent out there...

  • 3 degrees Kelvin. The atmosphere that wasn't lost while drifting through space would've frozen quickly. Starsha and her family might've have survived a long time inside the buildings of Mothertown with their advanced technology, but the air would be vacuum and the oceans ice. But this is the Yamato universe, where people can breathe vacuum if the drama is intense enough.

  • Not that quickly. Without its sun a planetary body still could maintain warmth for some time, weeks at least. Not to mention that Iscandar has lots of internal heat sources. It will become cold of course, but until the seas and airs freeze a considerable time may pass.

And the buildings can probably be isolated from the environment, too.

  • As soon as a planet leaves its orbit, it'd freeze immediately unless it goes toward its sun. This is the movie which made me totally dislike Starsha even as a child. She goes, "Oh, I can't leave my home planet" and tens of thousands of Gamilas soldiers perished for that!! Yamato makers should have made Desslar unable to rescue the family mainly because of the problems on the planet surface or something instead of Starsha's personal sentiment.

  • She wanted to show that she can be as hard-headed as Dessler himself, no doubt.

  • Starsha couldn't leave all of Iscandar's advanced technology, and the planetary self-destruct, unguarded. As the last Iscandarian, that duty became hers. Personal sacrifice for duty and honor are very ingrained in Japanese culture, and hence ingrained in this anime.

  • And lying at your love and deceiving them as Starsha does, is this also engrained in Japanese culture?

There do not seem to be many Japanese around her, anyway. Neither Dessler nor any of the Kodais understand her motivation.

Besides, the self-destruct should leave her time to get away. So much I have learned from Jean-Luc Picard...

  • 1 picard is in star trek next generation, 2 theyre family name isnt kodai, its sosumo or something like that

  • 1 I heard about that ;-)

2 The older brother is Kodai Mamoru, the younger is Kodai Susumu. The family name stands first.
