this song takes me back to the time when if felt free. This is a great song with a beat that has with stood time in my mind. I wish they still made music like this.
Wow! What a gem of a find, here! I didn't know that a long version of this song existed. The wonderfully gorgeous, haunting melody, along with the funky rhythm and uniquie, snazzy vocals make for an awesome piece of music! It's hard to find music this fabulous anymore.
@RONFREEDOM You can get the original album which this track comes from ("Places and Spaces") for £6 on Amazon. It is one of my all time favourite albums
Love this song! This is my old school. Let it last forever! Richard Morgan Class of 1980, Santa Fe High School! yes it's me. The who always had the radio!
Loved it then, love it still! Will always be a funk soul jazz sister. Even though it's rubbish getting older I'm glad I was born when I was...I've experienced so much amazing music throughout my life and for taht I give thanks xx
The kids just don't how to chill anymore , This is the best at picnics in the park !! 1980 !!! 30 years old and sounds like yesterday !! GOD bless the Duke & Chic Correa/Stanley Clark/ Marcus Miller/ Herbie Hancock/ Chaka Khan/ GeORGE bENSON/ John McLaughlin/ Billy Cobham/ Harvey Mason/ keep adding to the list on your list
@2maxxjazz Al Jarreau, Grover Washington Jr., Norman Connors, Greg Phillingaines, Joe sample Chuck Mangione Herbie Mann yeah this could take a while..........................
@lawhamjr - I'll help you out! cont'd... Herbie Hancock, Pharoah Sanders, Roy Ayers, George Duke, John Coltrane, Stanley Clark, Marcus Miller, Miles D....LOL! You're right, this could take awhile.........................
I bought the 12 " to Talkin' All That Jazz back in '89 with the Dominoes remix-not knowing The Byrd sample ( I know several of his works but this slipped by)..loved it! Fast forward 20 years later I bought a compilation CD "Soul Hits" at a Circuit City closing sale last year and played the 2nd disc. In the middle of the disc, this came on...MY JAW HIT THE FLOOR...must've played it 10 times back to back...I love-just a perfect song!!!...Thanks so much for posting the vinyl!!!
Classssssssssssic tune!! All the thugged out brothers boppin' in front of school...learning the latest steps...some blowin' weed ...just laughin' enjoyin' the music...no worries...memories.....
@mclarp remember it yes but it only dissapointed when put next to this think i bought it but regretted it eventually found the album versionon a blu note sampler in a second hand record shop in york as bfar as i new the 12 was virtually extinct and the album was 50quid to buy utube is a gift from the gods
@145k493 "Pure soul?" Try Jazz fusion. Ask Herbie Hancock to address the hate he encountered during the 70's. The music industry or life in general kicks yo ass for doin shit off the beaten path til you're accepted by the masses. Then they can't kiss enough booty and pretend they were on your side from Day1
Yeah, Howard University. Brings back memories. This was the jam ya'll. It's so, so sad that music like this is a thing of the past. But that's okay, it lives in our hearts, and on YouTube!
Hey, I went to Hofstra back in he early to mid-seventies but used to hang on Howard's and Georgetown's campuses back then. We've probably crossed paths.
Aw Damn! THis cut here is cold, back when I was fucking around with Edmund Darris, one of the greatest guitarist in the world! He use to jam with Bobby Harper, Michael and Cedric Howell...that was my Niggie back in the day! Dominoes...aw damn, Man!
found this record one sunday in a record shop in wolverhampton uk i went in the back part of the shop and there was a door which was private so there was nobody around exept for the guy at the front of the shop so i had a look.
there was a pile of disco 12 and this was in there
i have all of donald's 70's blue note lp's produced by larry and fonce mizell!! i have my father to thank for that, lol....this track is one of the ultimate low ridin' funk jams from trhe old skool era...and i still ride smooth and easy with this track....this is a perfect song, too, especially in the summertime!!
