  • i hate to be that guy...but this comment was shown to me just minutes ago here. things start go get strangely sexual at 4:30! haha cartoons from the 40s and 60s always make u do a double take :p

  • woooow! thanks a lot for posting this! brings back to me so much memories and I feel like a little kid again...! this is one of my favourites, I've been looking for it since long time!! thanks a lot again!

  • Considering this was made in 1940, me and my brother love this and remember watching it so much when we were young. We're only 20 and 18 but it goes to show how these quality cartoons have lasted for years and years. Unlike the toot they put on tv now

  • this is how LSD work on kids

  • This short is the fruit of unrestricted creativity, with almost no precedent to set the mark. It really is a child's daydreaming in cartoon. No bs parents lawsuits, no team of psychologists, no fear of prejudice or twisted misinterpretation.... just pure, unadulterated, art, seeping with puerile joy and innocence. No wonder it won an Oscar in 1940. All done by hand, too... and just listen to the complexity of Scott Bradley's music score... A true work of art.

  • @MultiCARTOON how shitty is you life did thatvyou have to destroy a cartoons comment wall?

This is a great little piece! No wonder it beat out the first tom and jerry for an academy award. Glad I found this :)

  • I love it, it reminds me on my childhood... was searching for that thing for about 20 years...

  • cute cartoon, love it!

  • amazing :)

  • @MultiCARTOON ur a right little dick fucker aren't u, u peado

  • Is it just me? Or does this cartoon start to get weirdly sexual at about 4:30

  • omg that's my favorite cartoon ever!!! :)

  • So, do you have long term cartoon turrets syndrome or something?

  • @straycatsean honestly, what's with that guy?

  • @MultiCARTOON

    You're annoying.

  • @MultiCARTOON

Not entirely sure what sort of enjoyment you derive by calling a classic piece of animation and its director such terrible names, you raffscalion, but I gently insist that you take all your pent up anger and ugly need to fornicate yourself sideways with a pointed stick elsewhere.

  • I think the cats were high in this whole short what do you think

  • Awww. Those were the days :)

  • What is the snack that the kitten falls on after he drinks Old Faithful?

  • HAHAHAHAHA i couldnt stop laughing at 4:39 :DDD

    big sexual connotation right there

  • Mgm Always makes good cartoons

  • this is one of my favorite cartoons ever , I always remember it and today I found it , I'm so happy... it's a big memory of my childhood :D ... I'd like to say to the people that commented before... why do you see gay things in so innocent stuff like this? you must be really sick!!! ... what a pity , this is what I miss from childhood ... innocence.

  • "it's milk!"

baha, this is so cute (L)

  • This is fantastic in every way imaginable.

  • Yeah you're right :P

  • me recuerdan a los sobrinos del pato donald

  • ajajaja por q?

  • Wow So Old 0.0

  • This is the first Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer cartoon to win the Oscar for best animated short film. In the 1930s, Disney dominated the awards. In the 1940s, MGM dominated, though Disney and Warners Cartoons each won one award that decade And this is indeed the only Oscar winning cartoon directed by Rudolph Ising, who isn't as well remembered as he should.

Too bad censorship of the time required those 5:30 bottle geysers -- animated boobs would have certainly been more interesting for sure.

  • I love old cartoons ^_^!

  • OSCAR 1940

  • u no i was searching for the milky way as in the moon stars and planets and this came up lol

  • 3:30 shooting stars, from the planet mars

    BANG BANG BANG

lol gawd i love the way these 1950???s cartoons modernize fairy tales

  • I can't believe that someone actually uploaded this cartoon! I love it! It brought back fond memories~ =) Thanks!

  • frickin WEIRD!D

i guess this is like a vagan or lactose intolerant's worst nightmare!)

  • lol milk weed. doubt any kids would understand that joke.

  • what a wonderful cartoon.

  • Wow. The internet rules.

  • I have this on video. Real good shit. The animation is superb.

  • if there is such a place as this "milky way" existing, this is an ideal place to serve as a correctional for unruly lactose intolerants.

  • I first watched this cartoon when I was 4. its been 14 years since I last saw this. It still has the same effect on me: I'm kinda having a milk craving while watching this. So cute!

  • than why are you wathing it if you have it on youtube

  • wow! I love this cartoon so much! so cute ^_^

  • My favourite cartoon eva! thought i'd never see it again.

  • I seem to only get the first 13 seconds whats going on, Ive not seen this in ages, and looks to me it might be even longer aggggghhhh!

  • What amazing imagination the animators and storywriters had back then.

  • Thanks for sharing this wonderful crtoon. This is my all time favorite and have not seen it in years.

  • Sometimes I'm so ashamed of myself of watching the newer animation when there's classics like this to watch. I wish the new generation of animators would make cartoons like this. I don't think I can take another minute of shows like Gym Partner and Billy and Mandy.

  • i am actually really glad that they don't have a short film category at the oscars anymore... it would be just a long series of disapointments!!! new cartoons suck....

  • The Golden Age of cartoons was the decades of the 40's and 50's.

  • I've been looking for this for years and have FINALLY found it!!! This is my favoutie cartoon, EVER!! THANKS VERY MUCH!!!

  • lovely.....liked the milk geysers.and the home for mice

  • Thanks so much for this - I saw this cartoon many years ago and never thought I'd see it again! (geekgo4, milk of magnesia is used for indigestion)

  • What is "magnesia?"

  • Milk of magnesia is a type of laxative.

  • I have this too on video. But mine doesn't have any channel watermarks on it, from late 80's when it aired on a channel. Really nice animation and audio. Definately deserved the Oscar.
