  • Any Skynyrd fans out here know what the absolute very earliest footage of the band is? I know I saw a clip of them playing on "Earth Day" in Jacksonville, Fla., when they were first getting started (on the Freebird Movie DVD) .... is there anything earlier than that? Or recordings earlier than that? .. I'm a fanatic for history of this band.

  • they may have been 10 years wiser, but the starting lineup was a helluva lot better!

  • @toothmaker22000 You got that right

  • can someone please send me the link to the vid where i can see the whole vid of Steve Gains jammin out to that amazing solo!!!

  • 10 years older, yes. 10 years wiser, maybe, 10 years better? Not a fucking chance boys, Skynyrd will never be as good, not without Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines.

  • I read a comment somewhere that said neither Steve nor Allen made "Rolling Stone"magazine's top 100 guitarist. I would have them top 5 ever.(probably 1-2) oh yeah , Ronnie had it right when he asked"WHO THE FUCK ARE THE ROLLING STONES ANYWAY''

  • @BufordWoody ...they also left out ed King and many many more.

  • What a shame. They just ruined they're legacy when they did this. Ronnie was Skynyrd. Period...

  • I remember when beer cans and all cans had the pull off tabs... like whats sittin on Bills piano.

cool vid footage. I wish I coulda seen RVZ and the Core gang, but I DID NOT MISS the 10 year show and a few since.

  • Ed King left in 1975, Steve Gaines joined in 1976. In 1987 Ed was back and sadly, Steve is gone ... full circle.

  • ive seen free bird from oakland colesium 1977, but i want sweet home alabama from oakland colesium 1977. do you have the video??

  • @GAMER0995 Mate, let me know if you ever get it. I would love to see that too.

  • 0:34 - Been trying to do that 25 years. Clearest shot of it I've seen. Helluva lick.

  • @xkxlxkx That great solo was 100% Steve Gaines.....though the video makes it look like Ed King was playing it initially. Since the band reunited in 87 to now I don't think they have ever attempted that version of Alabama on stage. Don't know if it is out of reverance for Gaines or that nobody can play those licks like he did.

  • sorry but most of that was from ten years earlier, steve gaines was one of the ones who died in the plane crash in 77.

  • where is this from? like where can i buy the video?
