Two greatest jazz-rock bands ever- Chicago and EWF, a white band and a black band! As if they have played together from the very beginning as a single big band! Full synchrinizattion, perfect feeling of the rhythm, althought there are about 20 musicians on the stage without a conductor! This is called top class in music, top professionals! And also, this concert symbolizes the unity between BLACK AND WHITE, that makes Amerca AMERICA!
Chicago's bassist is great but I can't stand his voice; I've seen them 3 times and EWF 5 times. That's the only bad thing I could say about these two groups though; they're two of the greatest bands of all time. I'm ecstatic that they were able to do this!
Greatest part of this song is 0.01 to 4.24. "Never, never my darling, Never you'll be alone, forever, forever my darling, true love is written IN THE STONE!"
@chj2 Cetera was replaced by Jason Scheff in 1985 who's been in the band ever since. Jason is a powerhouse of a vocalist and bassist. His voice is even similar to Cetera's. If you ever have the chance to see the band live, they're stage presence is still extraordinary.
@drhey19 Sadly as much as I love Chicago, I'd have to say that Jason is losing his voice. Chicago is getting worse over the years, and EWF is getting better. Lets just say it sucks to see one of your favorite bands get old. Even Cetera, who still has the voice, lacks the lungs he used to have. So Chicago, still good? Yes. As good as they used to be? No. Worth seeing? Must see at least once in your life. But not as good as the old days. Not trying to be mean, just speaking as I see it.
@drhey19 Pete Cetera did this show he is the white guy on mobile keyboard singing this song. Although he has his solo career he did join the guys for this show. He also can be seen singing and playing acoustic guitar on Beginnings.
@elmntl1 Peter Cetera isn't in this. Peter Cetera is blonder and not as tall. The musician on mobile keyboard and acoustic guitar on Beginnings is original band member, Robert Lamm. But don't take my word for it. Google his picture. Peter Cetera fronts his own band, the Electric Bad Daddies Band.
You want to see "Greatest Show on Earth", nothing beats the collaboration of the greatest HORNS ever! The magic performed by both EWF and Chicago will never be matched by anyone. Long live their music FOREVER!
Dear Maurice, You may not be touring with the band anymore, but this is the closest thing to on old-skool EWF gig that one could ever want. Bless Chicago for bringing back the spirit! Love, S
Thank GOD for YouTube for bringing us this old school music back into our lives -
i am seeing great stuff i never was able to see before this.....great show and two great bands i grew up with - ...... made my day seeing this ......... keep it coming !!!!
If only Maurice were here. Kind of makes me sad to not see him here. It would have been lovely to have him here too. Maurice has said that he could still perform, but he just doesn't want to. Maybe there's a little more behind the reason of why he no longer performs besides the Parkinson's which he said he has kept under control.
I gotta say this was a show of musical love by all of them. It looks like a lot of fun being on that stage. Most of these cats are at 60 or older. What a treat!!
Aren't they still touring with each other? I was pissed! My mom was going to get me tickets but she wasn't sure if I like either of them. I almost fainted when she said that! haha
The vocal (and brass) harmonies of both groups blend so amazingly!!! So glad to have grown up to their music, and to be around for reunions like this!!!
I've Got chills watching these two Legendary Bands together. It's absolutely Beautiful how well they Compliment eachother. It proves A point that Music knows no Color
Thank you for putting this videos out there. Hopefully will inspire new generations of musicians and... one day we will get back to giving awards to real music art. I had a great time listening and seeing two great bands EWF & Chicago.
If your gona talk about horns..i think tower of power is pretty much at the top of the list,,they can work magic with brass..ew&f 2nd than chicago, but all in all they are all awesome performers.
I saw Earth Wind and Fire and Chicago when they were touring here in the states....They were just fantastic to watch and to hear their music was such a joy. The performance was charged with electricity and energy the whole damn time.
I saw Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire in Denver, Colorado 2004. I have to say besides Stevie Wonder, This was one of the best concerts I have seen. (And I have been to many)
Both groups came out and jammed alone, but then they all came back on stage and performed both Earth Wind & Fire songs and Chicago songs. it was so fantastic, I can't say enough about how awesome they were!
I enjoyed it so much, that I have to get on youtube to get my fix!!! :)
Greatest collaboration of "horns" in music, brought together on one stage. Just amazing to see and if you got a chance to see them live together (like I did), then you have experienced the very best.
This is one incredible video! Both groups together on one stage...the opening and closing medleys are just insane. And to see each group share in both groups' hits is another incredible event. Nice cinematograpy and sound. Thanks for posting.
Bill Champlin on the piano and Jason Scheff on bass are my favorite singers in the whole ensemble

Two of the tightest horn sections EWF AND CHICAGO!!
acjazz59 8 months ago
Earth, Wind and Fire: all (or predominantly) African-American, funk/R&B.
Chicago: all white, Jazz-Rock.
The fusion: stunningly beautiful.
How appropriate that they end this song with "we can make it happen."

But, that is really an amazing song -- it really blends EW&F and Chicago styles in a pleasing way.
