i do agree, most of the NOT bands here are NOT punk whatsoever, but i dont think all-american rejects or yellowcard considers themself punk.

anything new in 79 trying to be punk, missed the fucking boat and didn't realize the scene died in late 78 and electro shit got big.

Someone tried to explain to me that Green Day was true punk. After listening to their music, it was more pop than punk. That's for sure. The new albums and the old. It was complete HAPPY POPPY bullshit. If you're old navy wearing girlfriend and her friends have it on their playlist with Lady Gaga, there's a problem.
There's tons of bands this day an age from the 80s still putting out quality punk like Anti Cimex, Discharge, etc.

The reason real punk bands aren't gonna be heard on the national radio or have their records sold in places like wal-mart is because it is un-punk to sign to a major record label or support corporations. And true punk doesn't care what the musical definition says or whether or not they're liked because true punk is rebellion against the main stream.
