i can't imagine why it's the hate comments that get the most thumbs up. speak greatly of this music, but why must you speak ill of another man's taste? is it a fact or subjective? nujabes is great. underground rap is great. but if you move the majority, you will get your name out there. souljaboy going big doesnt reflect upon mainstream equaling to shit. it reflects upon the masses that nod their head to it. dont hate souljaboy, hate the listeners. theres good music in mainstream. find it.

Rap is not a contest, it's a form of self-expression, like all art. Battles are just about having fun. They can be done competitively, sure, but just because something can be done competitively doesn't mean that it's what said something is all about. Then there's of course pop-rap like Wayne, who are all about simple songs for simple people.

@TheEpiph 14 year old's are not allowed to say 'back in my day'. Good sounding music has always been the same. Lyrical topics have little to do with how something sounds, Nujabes has produced a ton of songs that are just about love.
More often than not, however, shallow music (Wiz Kalifa and Rick Ross) also sounds shallow. Rap is supposed to be part poetry, and there's no poetry in Wiz Kalifa.
