if you noticed..natives and mexicans look very much alik..should say something 98% of mexicans have native blood and are full natives but you obviously dont know tht..maybe a powwow festival can teach you tht.
@lafeamasbella246 that is so true. I do not understand why people cannot conceive of the reality that if Native Americans and Mexicans lived on the same continent....with no freaking boundaries, that they are the same people, basically. That is why all this illegal immigration bullshit is just that, bullshit. Noone has more right to be in this country than Native Americans and Mexicans.
you guys are friggin racist and dont kno shit! you obviously dont know that mexicans are native. uh we're in encyclopedia of natives. we were labeled mexican by the europeans. the spanish. and in the redbone theres natives and there is a mexican in it. they dont play to be anything it is what it is and youre so ignorant and mad just cuz you know its true but you want to insult and be ignorant. learn your shit. and really wetbacks?
Custer had it coming because as brave as he was he made a poor military decision. He was cocky. He should have went in with more force and would have demolished those brave Indians. Either way brave men from both sides died. Over Custer's cockiness and poor judgment.
They should have sent Gen Sherman. Things wouldve have been different.
It was such and awful waste of Human life both on American Indian and the white people. But htat is what history so moving to know that we dont make the same mistakes.
And for the record...Sitting Bull did not lead the battle at Wounded Knee, he wasn't even there, he was on a sacred mountain top praying for the outcome of the battle. A young, handsome military 'chief' named "GALL" of the Hunkpapa Lakota, actually planned and orchestrated the indians attack at Wounded Knee. The other key player in this Historical Victory was ofcourse, CRAZY HORSE!
@Melbow14n Actually the facts you are relating DO NOT relate to WOUNDED KNEE,...they relate to THE BATTLE OF THE GREASY GRASS,...or as most call it, the battle of the LITTLE BIGHORN. There was NO BATTLE OF WOUNDED KNEE in the 19th Century, only a MASSACRE of INNOCENT PEOPLE by some sub-human scum. The 20th Century would of course see a "battle" at Wounded Knee. Misinformation goes a long way, please remember this when relating native history. :)
Yes you are right...I got so worked up about the whole thing that I MISSED THE OBVIOUS! VERY observative of you. Won't happen again, glad somebody is paying attention.
Custer ABSOLUTELY had it coming! Regardless of the fact that he was outnumbered, he put his men in harms way just to beat the two other Generals to the battlefield. He was suppose to wait for the other two flanks before attacking. He was an arrogant, vain, dumbass, that amazingly got recorded in our history books as a "HERO".
Ya Custer Did Had It Coming To Him I guess He Forgot How Big We Are We Out Numbered Him And his Troop's Custer Had It Coming To Him If You Think That The Great Spirit Will Forget What You Do On This Earth You'r Dead Worng He Know's Every Thing And Custer Forgot That..

If you cannot see a younger Redbone in a couple of these guys you must be blind, that is like saying videos lie- No way this was shot in the late 1980's in Los Angeles.
Brothers Patrick & Lolly Vegas, formerly Vasquez, formed Redbone in L.A. in 1968. The original band consisted of the Vegas brothers, drummer Peter DePoe & Tony Bellamy (guitar, piano, vocals). Butch Rillera replaced DePoe & Redbone achieved much of their commercial success after that. Pat Vegas leads the current band (it's in the video). Raven Hernandez (guitar, vocals & songwriter) replaced Lolly after he suffered a stroke in 1995. Tony Bellamy was later forced to retire due to illness.
Redbone's members changed in 2006. The current Redbone consists of Pat Vegas, Mark Guerro, Raven Hernandez, Steve Roybal, George Ochoa, Karl Carrasco (keyboard), Ron Reyes (lead guitar), Art Sanchez (bass), and Ron Zapata (drums). The band's name and Pat Vegas are the only remaining original aspects of Redbone.
To understand the music of Redbone, enlighten yourself on the concept of "Manifest Destiny" (Wikipedia). Mexicans are Mayan/Aztec Indians. They share the same DNA of all the original people, natural born heirs, of North, Central and South America.
Hello, I love Redbone. Of old Redbone, Tony and Pat both year of the snake in Chinese astrology. Walking Bear is Goat, and Lolly is rabbit. I like also the band today.
Thank You! You are the only one to point that out. And what the hey anyway. Who really cares. 1/4 1/16th etc. The message could come from any one. There is a Redbone society. It is to connect people with thier roots. The name Redbone is old and does come from mixed people. It has taken on a derrogatory shadow, but people who are redbone are proud to say I am a redbone. Cajun, Indian, French, Spanish, creole, etc
You mean the 1870's or the 1970's? Well, I wouldn't say Custer had it comin. On the other hand, if he hadn't messed the Indians, well, gee, he might have lived to be an old man.
spelled Xit and they were good but I always liked RedBone and Pat and Lolly Vegas, had it going on in LA, all over. Fan forever, just like being Ndn forever
lolly looks good like always... pat looks like he was in a DISCO all nite... ;-) i love this, i think its funny in a cute way, cuz thats how i recall people dressing back then ( hair, clothes ect.) LUV IT...
@LuVsAiLoRs -yes thats what people dont realize, they are dressing with what was maybe some of the style back then.of course they still looked good back in the 70's
This was back in the 1980's hey where were you when this stuff was going on things have changed light years in technology since those days and they were at the beginning so unless you have walked in their mocasins YaTaHey to you..
One thing now about Redbone is that they were true to their native roots. Now I know everyone in America claims to be part Native, NDN is in your heart and not a lot of people can claim that part without looking phony, and Redbone was never phonies. Skins out to have a good time...I mean look at the songs they did, this video was just for fun-and Custer did have it coming to him.
that is something that could go to court and have to be proven. Nowadays its not even
1/16th it is down to 1/32's, if you can prove it. That's what I mean, my husband is a full blood Lakota from Pine Ridge, SD and he works for a company where trucks pull in from all over the US and each trucker tells him that they are part Indian. We have all of our degree of blood papers too, but never had to pull them out - so calm down. Empress?
I'm not upset. Just stating a fact. You may look at me and think I'm kidding you when I tell you my father's mom was Seminole/ Cherokee. Because I don't look native. My Dad and grandmother do though. I don't tell people. My grandmother didn't tell people, because to be of mixed blood could have meant my grandfather's dental patients would have shunned him. Some tribes are much more accepting of people with mixed blood. Other tribes are all about pure blood. I like Redbone. I always have.
Did you mean purebread? Pureblood is a term I heard used at the Taos Pueblo, by the Indian, yes he called himself Indian, tour guide. It didn't seem to bother him. He did say that to the Red Willow people, it's very important to stay pure in blood. They can't pass their pueblo dwellings down to someone who is not 100% Indian. Hey, no use going around uptight about all of this. By the way, you said your husband is 100%. What about you?
you said "pure blood" not me, and I am Oneida, Cheyenne and Lakota full blood. If an Indian calls him/herself Indian then they must be Indian, Its hard to be full blood, let alone pure like the driven snow. What about me? I think your comments are pretty narrow minded and only catch the tip of the iceberg on what it is to be Native, that was funny (purebread) or did you mean pure breed?
I may be the Empress of Wyoming, but it doesn't stop me from being the queen of typos. I don't blame you for your ire. American Natives have been put through much hell. The pride you feel in your heritage is moving. We agree on one thing at least: Redbone is a good part of our history. You and I are very close in age and share a common era. Peace be with you, lady.
They were just a band of brother's trying to make it in a very difficult business and the styles and the personna were from the 1980's so if you were not there I guess you can't relate, but these guys were musical pioneer's and the first Native America Rockstars- Kudo's to them always..
Well I was born in 1978, so I mainly got the pop music crap that played on the radio. You know, Lionel Richie this, Madonna that kinda treatment. Lucky for me it didn't kill me! :P
Damn! The 80s killed those american indian rockstars! The two on the right are just awfully dressed. Where's Boy George? And how about the awful slowmotion and hat, etc. ANyway, thx for the obscure footage.
Mexicans, Indians, Americans, who cares? These guys made some unbelievable music, and that's true even if it turns out they're really Martians.

You mean the 1870's or the 1970's? Well, I wouldn't say Custer had it comin. On the other hand, if he hadn't messed the Indians, well, gee, he might have lived to be an old man.

joelsamuel 4 years ago
One thing now about Redbone is that they were true to their native roots. Now I know everyone in America claims to be part Native, NDN is in your heart and not a lot of people can claim that part without looking phony, and Redbone was never phonies. Skins out to have a good time...I mean look at the songs they did, this video was just for fun-and Custer did have it coming to him.
ndnforever7 3 years ago
That's because a lot of us do have Native blood.
EmpressOfWyoming58 3 years ago
that is something that could go to court and have to be proven.
Empress?
Redbone still did good for our people
jinared 3 years ago 2
I'm not upset. Just stating a fact. You may look at me and think I'm kidding you when I tell you my father's mom was Seminole/ Cherokee. Because I don't look native. My Dad and grandmother do though. I don't tell people. My grandmother didn't tell people, because to be of mixed blood could have meant my grandfather's dental patients would have shunned him. Some tribes are much more accepting of people with mixed blood. Other tribes are all about pure blood. I like Redbone. I always have.
EmpressOfWyoming58 3 years ago
NDN's don't even say "Pureblood" thats for canines...duh,
Yes, Redbone was a good group and I thought this video was funny.
jinared 3 years ago
Did you mean purebread? Pureblood is a term I heard used at the Taos Pueblo, by the Indian, yes he called himself Indian, tour guide. It didn't seem to bother him. He did say that to the Red Willow people, it's very important to stay pure in blood. They can't pass their pueblo dwellings down to someone who is not 100% Indian. Hey, no use going around uptight about all of this. By the way, you said your husband is 100%. What about you?
EmpressOfWyoming58 3 years ago
you said "pure blood" not me, and I am Oneida, Cheyenne and Lakota full blood. If an Indian calls him/herself Indian then they must be Indian, Its hard to be full blood, let alone pure like the driven snow. What about me? I think your comments are pretty narrow minded and only catch the tip of the iceberg on what it is to be Native, that was funny (purebread) or did you mean pure breed?
jinared 3 years ago 2
I may be the Empress of Wyoming, but it doesn't stop me from being the queen of typos. I don't blame you for your ire. American Natives have been put through much hell. The pride you feel in your heritage is moving. We agree on one thing at least: Redbone is a good part of our history. You and I are very close in age and share a common era. Peace be with you, lady.

This is NOT the original band. Redbone broke up in the late 70's and this is Pat Vegas' sort of "new" Redbone.

They were just a band of brother's trying to make it in a very difficult business and the styles and the personna were from the 1980's so if you were not there I guess you can't relate, but these guys were musical pioneer's and the first Native America Rockstars- Kudo's to them always..
joelsamuel 4 years ago
Well I was born in 1978, so I mainly got the pop music crap that played on the radio. You know, Lionel Richie this, Madonna that kinda treatment. Lucky for me it didn't kill me! :P
matamor78 4 years ago
Damn! The 80s killed those american indian rockstars! The two on the right are just awfully dressed. Where's Boy George? And how about the awful slowmotion and hat, etc. ANyway, thx for the obscure footage.
matamor78 4 years ago
What good didn't the 80s kill?
So true. A great and clever message destroyed by synthesisers and fugly fashion.
