@shahriar1960 : Good answer. Much of the Iranian population is educated and modernized. Furthermore, they did not have to sell their independence like the governments of the Gulf states (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, etc) in order to do it. I am not Iranian, yet I know Iranians are amongst the most educated. In contemporary times, it should be noted also that poverty does not equate to a lack of education. The West will never understand the dynamics of the Middle East.
