In the 80s, there was no Internet, only MTV. Gay people would be thrilled to see hints of gay identity in music videos. They made us feel less alone and unrepresented. DAF were an iconic band for gays who were into the Alternative music scene. Only thing that sucks about this video is that they had to throw in a dancing girl to fool the straight people so that this video would get airtime.

But, you addressed me directly so I'm answering. See the Youtube video titled "Gabi Delgado Polylux Portrait 2003" where Gabi talks about being gay. It's in German but there is some English transcription. It's a bit astonishing you cannot see how lovingly gay they are in their videos. Cheers!
