Horner isn't much for practicality...he never got his actual degree, only honorary (I've met and worked under him)...chickens? Hardly the ideal candidate. You would need far, far larger eggs, and the only way to do that would be ostrich or emu eggs, and we'd need even larger for some species - we'd have to manufacture an egg that breaths and supports the yolk. At any rate, listening to these people who know nothing of paleontology talk is painful.
i remember actually watching this continued documentary o__O
im not even kidding like, i cant find it but.
long story short, he found the DNA and injected it to a chicken embryo and it DEVELOPED teeth and a small tail. does anyone know about this besides me? the documentary was a while ago though.
I think it would be interesting. Don't know if it will happen in this century (or in the next 50 years), but it'll probably happen eventually. Not saying it's right or wrong.
You know they keep saying that nature has rules when it really doesn't . For example there's a species of jellyfish, Turritopsis nutricula, which has achieved immortality through the regeneration of cells.
interviewee didn't do a great job relaying the info. They're only modifying a few genes: teeth, wings into three fingered hands, and tails. Chickenosaurus. Not Jurassic park coming from this.
The best way to make a dinosaur would be to turn on and off certain genes of a bird in key points in time during it's time in the egg to make it have scales, with tails, and teeth etc...
i don't think making a baby t-rex would be good b/c when it born it my bite your finger of so making a b-rex might be better (bob rex) so it would be a D-rex (***** rex) cant say what D stands for though srry
I would love to see a new world smaller version of T Rex hunting down other predators like Lions in Africa and eating them. I love big cats but that would be so cool.
The guy is annoying. He is not taking her seriously. He will be laughing when he sees a real dinosaur walking around. I don't think we are far from this. I love the idea of reversing the chicken and soon my dream of seeing dino's with us will soon be. But they will be smaller because dinosaurs if lived today would not grow to the size they were in jurrassic park. Oxygen levels are too low.
I have No problem dying at the jaws of the King of the Dinosaur's. I say bring T-Rex back to life damn it... Hell bring them all back... A real life Jurassic park would be awesome i know id sell everything i own just to see a T-Rex
@roxy3766 Google it? Basically, dinos, specifically theropods, evolved into birds. Scientists can go into the genes of birds and start flipping switches. They've already grown chicken embryos with teeth and tails.
IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN YOU WOULD FIRST NEED THE DINOSAURS DNA/RNA HELIEX AS A BLUEPRINT WHICH THEY HAVE NONE,SECOUND AT THE MOST IN GUESSING THEY WOULD COME UP WITH THAT BIRDS DINOSAUR ANCESTRAL FAMILY, WHICH ARE THE FLYING DINOSAURS AND THE RAPTOR AND THATS IF THE THEORY OF DINOSAUR EVOLUTION TO BIRDS IS TRUE, OR A FREAK OF NATURE SO YOU GET NOTHING YOU LOSE GOOD DAY SIR!!!!!!!! >:P
After syntheticly engineering:Microbes, Viruses, Prokeriotes, Eukeriots-and reconstructing T.Rex basement matrix molecules-and rebuilding chickens by reversing them-and adding a bit of T.Rex cell structure-we should have something interesting and Dino-AAARRRHHH!!! like (O:
The 'Mild Acid' maby burns away the DNA residues-from the cells left over-what about 'Chrystal Agregates' and the preserved DNA info that is in the bones-how to axess this data-may alow scientists to recover Genomes from fossil bones-it's just a matter of developing the right teckniques to get the data-The direct line from first dino to bird runs right through the middle of the whole raptor line-eccept of course side branches-whitch are all the fossils that are found. (*: itl happen (*:
@geoffreyah Theres two problems with reverse evolution first without a blueprint your guessing like a blind man on super crack on building the helix and since they dont and never will get the blueprint they cant unless they use a komodo as their blueprint but dinosaurs didnt evolve to reptiles only birds for the secound reason see my top comment
Dinosaurs: Return to Life is a Discovery Channel series that covers this topic. By reverse engineering chickens, turning on genes that have been conserved despite years of evolution, I think we will see a small raptor-like "dinosaur" in the next 5 years. They've already induced tooth and tail formation.
If evolution from one species to another is what actually occurred, it seems that transitional fossils in the fossil record would be more the rule than the exception. Instead we find abundant record of species we can identify. Where is the teeming evidence of animals having died and fossilized in mid transition?? These creatures would be so very unique in structure!!!
All fossils are transitional fossils. What is confusing you is the timescale. Not all rates of evolutionary change are equal. Also not all animals fossilise, it is a rare event for land vertebrates for example. Not so rare for trilobites. We do not expect uniqueness, but modification. Finding vertebrates for example with no skull, 7 limbs and two backbones would be unique, but we don't. They are all modifications of the basic tetrapod plan. As predicted by Darwin.
I'm not sure if my question was addressed. Again, if evolution claims that species change through many generations, with each generation being slightly different from the previous, why are these transitional states absent from the fossil record. More interesting, why are the identifiable animals the only ones present? I'm not sure how "timescale" or "rates of change" explain the question. Any thoughts?
Another simple example in which the evolution position voids itself of common sense: Birds have 3-chambered hearts. Evolution says that over many generations, they slowly developed 4 chambers as seen in (supposed) future species. Common sense causes me to wonder how these many generations survived and thrived with partially developed hearts. Talk about "survival of the fittest"! Were these half formed animals the "fittest"?? Far from it! It would take enormous "faith" for me to accept the idea.
Or, did the now-defunct "sudden leap" theory actually occur (one animal birthing an entirely new species)? Well, here's one instance where common sense won out in the evolutionist's mind. Such an idea was always illogical on the very surface. I have a hard time seeing how it could ever have been proposed.
Yes, indeed, creationism and evolutionism are equally faith-based. Who would disagree? And which is easier to believe?
Dude recently I have seen a show done on national geographic about humans ancestors and scientist do have the Fossils of these beings in possesion but they have very few of them, most were found in Africa which is supposedly the birthplace of human kind
@videonomy And indeed we have abundant transitional fossils. It's called Google, look for them. The dino-bird link is one of the best documented. Dinosaurs with an avian body plan, dino with feathers, with wings, some that can at least glide if not fly (Microraptor), then we have birds with teeth, claws, tails, etc. "Missing Links: Evolutionary Concepts and Transitions Through Time" is a good book, go read it.
Out of all the animals to revert to dinosaurs, they picked chickens, the animals that we treat the WORST. Very smart.
