I own a 2010 Madone Project One bike. Although the technology of the frame is very nice and the hype by Lance is great, there are a few faults in Madones my brother and I purchased. 1) The cables are garbage and need to upgraded from generic housings to true Shimano. They stretch, cannot keep the bike in tune. 2) The factory tubes are garbage. Blew 2 tubes in 300 miles at the spokes with velox tape installed. 3) The bontrager wheels were inconsistant in paint and quality. etc, etc.
I rekon that the top tube on the 09 Madone is nicer and the teardrop blade system on the 09 6.9 is nicer than the blade system used on the 2010 bike. But in any case the madone is a great bike
I know I've just been marketed at ... I don't want to like the Madone ... but I do, and their Project 1 system just appeals so much more than an off the shelf bike.
It will be on my shortlist in 2010 for a new bike.
snifnscratch, i love trek. don't get me wrong. but you gotta know it's american. and american is wonderful at commercial. and of course great products are made. Just they know how to tell people what have they done better than the rest of the world. Pinarello did a lot of R & D as well. and that's a fact. Just they are not American and that is why you seldome heard about them. Just like trek, they also make very good bicycle.
In the UK I can get a complete madone for £3k, which is the same cost as the pinarello prince frame alone. The maths dont add up, especially when you consider the madone is made in the US and the prince in taiwan. The madone is a better bike. When the madone frame only becomes available in the UK it will retail for around £2k, so its a no brainer
TREK IS THE BEST!

The basic 5.1 for 2010 is just above 3k. However that is not the project one Quick Turn frames

pinarello do very little r&d, whereas trek do much more. To me the madone 6 is by far the best OFF THE PEG frame
