Old Crowe makes great turrets that are good not only for hydra flak tanks but for many other types of vehicles

go check out their resin turrets plus they also make full vehicles as well

I simply cut the barrel down and removed the defense bit and made it a Medusa. Despite Medusa's getting a bad rep I think their great and are noticeably better than Basalisks since they don't have a painfully big minimum range and are cheaper

mortars don't have a breach. They load from the front so the crew should be infront of the weapon.

I'm not sure I agree with your coaxial argument for the hydra, it just doesn't look right. For the price of the bits, if you don't have a spare predator sprue laying around, it will be more expensive than buying the forge world kit and you get all the sexy forge world goodness.

Yes, you can. BUT until the new guard codex (Which I can confirm has the Hydra in it!) comes out you will need permission to use Forge World rules, unless the tournament says you can no matter what.

Hmmm........I am just starting an imperial guard army at the moment (2 infantry platoons nearly finished). Right now I am just fishing for ideas about the kind of army I am looking for. My options are as follows:

1. Mechanised Infantry (supported by heavy armour).

2. Airborne infantry (both standard and storm trooper squads) supported by Valkyries and sentinels.

3. A fire support battery (a group of Basilisks) with support Infantry.

Anyone got any other ideas?

Max out all units with plasma guns. They are volitile sure, but with a lovely rapid fire feture and a group of terminators on the other end you can be next to unstopable.

Also dont neglete the use of showing the enemy you can fire alot, no matter how weak the guns are. Alot of dice produces more results.

I would also reccomend grabbing a few Junior Officers for your infantry platoons (mainly for 2 reasons, they look cool and power fists are sexy).

Haha, not a bad plan. Actually, one thing I'd considered doing was for weapon attachments, rather than use magnets, stick down a flat painted lego plate and have a matching one on the bottoms of the weaponry, so you could effectively click it on and off... stuff like that. :)
